Jan.2006 code watch!!

Just my thoughts for early January codes:
There will be NO CODES for the first week of January.
Reasons:
1) many schools not going back until Jan 9, 2006 (that is why we will be in Disney Dec 31 - Jan 8)
2) people coming early for the marathon weekend (Jan 7/8)
I think that if discounts come out for January, that the first week will be omitted completely. Either that or VERY limited discounted rooms/packages available for the first week of January.

I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!!
Anybody else have an opinion on this?
Last years codes for Jan 2 onwards came out Oct 30/31

that's when I'm going and I always miss out on the really great deals. Sigh. Don't have a pity party for me though, because I'm going to Disney World!!! Woo Hoo.

I'm in the same situation (Dec 31 - Jan 8), and sure a code would be great, but I am just so happy to be going to disney with the kids, thats all that matters.
Plus we are hoping to have breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at Ohanas!!!! :cool1:

Should you get a room first or do you wait? How does it exactly work.

I'm hoping they continue over with the military discount! Some one in management(I had a complaint to make) told me that it's a possibility. She didn't say one way or they other. Just to check back mid October. Worst comes to worst I can always get an overflow rate through SOG. Heck, anything is better than rack rate.

nine9d- I wouldn't wait to long to at least book something. You can always adjust (if the rooms are available) the price later if a discount comes out. I would just book what you are willing and able to pay at rack rate. Then you have something you know you can afford. You also wouldn't be stuck with possibly not getting anything if you wait for a code, etc. Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Yes, I would book right away away also. In June we booked a value room only (with 20% AAA discount) for Dec 31 - Jan 8 (Dec 31 not discounted). Earlier this month I called back hoping to upgrade our last night or two to a mod and there were nothing left with an AAA discount (due to the marathon I assume). I also assume that there wouldn't be a lot of availability over MLK weekend as well.

Also about possible discounts coming out, the fall discounts came out last year Aug 28, this year they came out Sept 29. Sooooooo, does anyone think that any possible winter discounts may not come out until later as well (last year they came out Oct 30/31). I wonder if the end of November might be more of a possibility (if any come out at all)???
Any thoughts????

I have already booked and paid in full. I am still hoping for something but it looks doubtful.

Hi Suzy! :wave2:
Thought I'd add my 2 cents worth. I agree with you...the winter discounts will come out later, maybe November. I think Disney Co. will hold out as long as they can before offering any "deals". This is their big year, and they will only offer codes if they need to bring people in.
I'm thankful I made room reservations in July for Jan with CAA. Any savings is a help!
Besides, I'm going to Disney  Yahoo!

I understand why you think that the Jan or winter discounts may not come out until later because Disney wants a "wait and see" approach. I was thinking that the discounts (if there will be any :confused3 ) will come out very late because this current discount goes all the way to Dec 25th.

Good news for us marketing wise is I have seen an awful lot of posts of people whom got the free dining whom are now totally converted to the dining plan. I am hopeful that Disney marketing will realize that their approach worked and will offer it again for the sole purpose of enticing others. i feel us Jan/Feb people will be a good target because it is a very slow time of year, it will entice more people to come, but also not a huge expense for them because realistically they can only get so many people to come at that time of year anyway.

Either way, Disney is D I S N E Y!!! I'll still go as much as I can, when I can, and really all of the special deals just make me spend more in the parks!! :rotfl:

I booked in September for January '06 with the AP discount and was told to start calling in November for BR to see if I could get rooms cheaper. Not that the price I got was bad, but I may get to upgrade to a Moderate if this happens. So if that answers any questions of when the next batch should come out. Hope it helps... Wish I were at Disney now instead of sick at home now....

Schools don't go back until Jan. 9th in Canada?

I dont know of anywhere in the US that does. The week betwwen Christmas and New Year's is what we get off from school.

Schools don't go back until Jan. 9th in Ontario (Canada)? Is that a new thing?

SOME school districts (but not all) in Canada do not go back until Jan 9. We will already be in Florida Dec 17-31 so since school doesn't go back to the 9th, we thought we would add on an extra week and go to Disney. There were a couple threads posted awhile back asking when schools go back after Christmas vacation and I remember a few US people posting Jan 9 also. But I think the majority go back earlier so hopefully if discounts are offered in January, the first week will be included!!! Last year the discounts started for check-ins Jan 2 onwards.

I'll be coming after school is in session for people (Jan 12-17) but it is over the MLK holiday. Anybody know if that factors in to crowds and room codes?

We are in Orange county, California and are out of school until about the 9th of Jan, I think. We are going that week to WDW, I think, if we get codes. I'm not doing the BRP thing, and only getting an AP if codes come out.

I'm thinking of our regular choices--AKL, BWI, BC, YC, Poly or GF.... Hopefully a split stay between a couple, but it depends on the discounts and what's available  :grouphug:  princess: :wizard: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :sunny: :flower: :wave2:
