We've got reservations on the 4 night Wonder cruise on
1/03 and I was wondering if anyone else is going to be on
with us. I've enjoyed everyone's advice I've been
reading. I'm really new on the internet and I'm not sure
what I'm doing, but I love Disney and we are DVC members.
My kids will be 15, 13, 11 and 8 when we go. We are only
going on the cruise (not wdw this trip), but we are planning
on two nights (using points) at HH when we return. I'm worried
about seasickness, but I see good advice (I hope) from what
everyone has said. I am so excited about our cruise, it's all
I can think about. The kids don't know we're going yet.

mickeymom629,

Welcome to DIS! We cruised this past January and had a wonderful time. I know your kids will be sooo excited when you tell them!

Keep reading these boards and ask any question you may have and you should be OK. Hope you have a great trip.

Thanks for your remarks. Which cruise were you on, do you have children, how was the weather, how crowded was the ship????
I would love to hear all about your trip. Was this your first cruise?
It will be ours and I'm very excited, but nervous about seasickness and safety.

Our 1st cruise was a 4 nite in Jan 2000. I guess that the best way to tell you how much we loved it is it say we are going on our 3rd Disney cruise next month! Weather can be a little iffy, but we did have great weather on our castaway cay day. I was sooo worried about seasickness, kids club, etc. that 1st cruise, but everything worked out fine. We left on debarkation morning vowing to return... my gr.dtr. was 9 at the time and she's been everywhere - DW, DL, London, etc. and she never wanted anything more then she wanted to go back on a Disney cruise. Hope you have a WONDERful time.

My sister and I cruised in Jan 2001. No kids, just the tow of us, so I can only say that it looked like the kids were having a great time! There also seemed to be more little ones than middle school/high school.

The weather was great. I tend to get sea sick, but had no problems, except for a persistent feeling of rocking AFTER the cruise was over.

We were lucky - the weather at CC was perfect. We were told that the trips before us were not as nice, but our day was great, and over way too soon.

I would consider staying on the ship in Nassau unless there is something you really want to see. On our next trip we will probably go over to Atlantis to gamble a bit, but on a first trip, I would prefer to spend the time exploring the ship and doing some of the planned activities.

This board is great - isn't it? I have learned so much, and it really did help me out on our first trip. i feel like I got more out of the trip than if I had had to learn the ropes on the ship!

I do hope there are some teenagers on our ship. Thanks for the advice about Nassau. I kind of got the feeling that we might want to stay on the ship after reading some of the other reviews. Unless my family wants to try the Dolphin Swim (which sounds like it could be great for them), then I will relax on the ship myself. Were your cruises in Jan. filled to capacity? Sandee, was your second cruise as great as your 1st? I can already see my planning wheels churning to figure out when we can afford to go again! I can't wait to get the video I hear is wonderful!

I want to be the 3nd person to WELCOME YOU TO THE DIS.

Congratulations on booking your first Disney Cruise (join the club me to). I think you and your family will definately love it. It will an adventure :) they will never forget. Take LOTS of pictures.

By the way the weather this last January was in the 80's don't expect that type of weather next January. Expect colder weather prob in the 60's.

I was just looking at the Dolphin Swim. I am wondering if that would be toooo cold to do in January, but that one looks very interesting to take.

I see your countdown to the Jan. 21 cruise, but I thought you're going on Jan. 26. Also, the cool weather you are referring to, is it air weather for the entire cruise? Where did you find that information? I was hoping for warmer weather, but I know that time of year is unpredictable in the south.

Our cruise is on 1/26/03 but we are coming in 5 days prior (1/21/03)and staying at the BCV 1-bdrm unit. That is why you were a little confused.

I was talking about the normal weather for that time period. This last January it was unseasonably warmer (don't ask me why) about the 80's. Normally its a little warmer in the Carribean then in Florida.

Look at the web site http://www.weather.com/weather/climatology/BFXX0005 it will let know the normal temperatures around that time. Per this web site the normal temperatures are between the 60's and the 70's.
