We are going to be in SoCal over Christmas break, and have two days blocked for DL. They are two of the worst days of the year, but it was the only option we had. So, I have 2 questions...

1) Do we need to worry about capacity closures? We are more familiar with DW that is known to have phased closures at that time of year. Will that be an issue for DL?

2) For those of you most familiar, how would you approach the day? Beyond the givens of being there at open and using MaxPass, what tips or suggestions do you have for making the most of the time we have?

I went to the parks on January 1, and there were no capacity issues. That doesn't guarantee there won't be any this time around, but it seems like the capacity issues are the few days right after Christmas. I really didn't think crowds were that bad. Busy, yes, horrible, no. The only thing to remember is that there is no EMH or MM since the parks are open until 2am on New Years Eve. And since there is no EMH or MM it wont really matter what side to start on. I personally like to start at DL because the lines take longer to build over there. I would also make dining reservations so you get a chance to sit an relax. SWGE might be popular, so if you want to make reservations for the cantina, lightsaber, or droids, those can get you into the land if the land hits capacity.

Also, lots of people head to Pasadena for the Rose Parade early on the 1st and then hit disney the day after so I have found that the 2nd is usually more crowded than the first. The first will definitely be crowded by the evening time but I think if you anticipate that everything will have waits you will be fine. I would recommend making at least one dining reservation for a sit down meal.
