Jamie-Lynn Spears Pregnant...

And I thought she was the good Spears...Oh well, her bad.

It is a mistake to have a kid when you're a teen because:
1.) If you can't vote, or drive (in some states) because you're considered immature at that age, how can you assume the responsibility of a kid!
2.) You obviously showed you're irresponsible by get pregnant so young anyway.

In my mind, she's not ready. And it's mind-boggling that she's freakin' a role model to 10 year olds!

This is where Nick caught a BIG break. Zoey 101 stopped production for good in September. Not that the show was bad, but the teen actors were growing up, parting their own ways.

It would be illegal for Nickelodeon to fire Jamie because she was pregnant. If they did she could take them to court.

Though, maybe Jamie could do a Nick Special with Linda Ellerbee about Teen Pregnancies in the US? :confused3
On Nickelodeon? Highly unlikely. Think of all the little kids that watch Nickelodeon. I watched it since the age of 8. If I was a parent I sure as **** wouldn't want my eight year old to be learning about teen pregnancy at 8! Or 10!

AGH! I was looking at the photo gallery on that aol news thing. ZAC HANSON IS MARRIED!!! HE AND HIS WIFE ARE EXPECTING A BABY!!! My childhood dreams are crushed. Zac Hanson is married....Lance Bass is gay....jeez....my 12 year old dreams are ruined...:sad2:

Hmm, are we sure this isn't just a fabrication like it was with Hannah Montana?
Anyway, I think it comes as a bit of a shock because she always looked like a saint compared to her messed up sister..my negative opinion on BS have been posted many times on this board and I won't really go into it here. I don't necessarily wan't to bash her for what she did because most people don't remain pure until marriage these days, BUT it's not like she can't afford a condom for pete's sake! And when you are on a children's show like that you have a RESPONSIBLITY to be a role model. That should be taken away from her, because yes, there should be a punishment. And again, this isn't really a punishment for girls in her position, just girls who children look up to and are supposed to be role models (or at least their characters..) And she shouldn't work on a tv show if she's to be a mother..
Any sixteen year old who can raise a child and make money to support her and her child is a role model to me.

Not everyone is "pure" as you so quaintly put it, but that doesn't make anyone any less human, regardless of how you are looking down on them.

You are saying that her child should be TAKEN away from her because SHES YOUNG? thats absolutely atrocious. Again, I am a product of teen pregnancy. Should I be in foster care because my mother is younger than yours? In short, OH HELL NO I shouldn't be.

A lot of mothers are on television. Look at Kelly Rippa. Shes been pregnant and on a much more strenuous show than any nickelodeon show can claim to be.

God I'm so disgusted I can't write anymore about this. You really need to get off your holier than thou pedestal and take a walk in the real world.

Her punishment IS the baby!

I havent met ONE mature 16 year old who could possibly be ready for parenthood. Not one.

Anyways, I really hope the best for her and her new son/daughter.

Shelby, thats just how she feels about it. She doesn't have to agree with your views. Your making it sound like YOUR being the holier than thou.

You consider a baby a punishment? Even at 16, she has admitted her mistakes but she sees the baby as a happy occassion to welcome a new addition to the family. That is a very mature thing to do.

I do NOT agree with that statement. This baby isn't punishment. My friend had a baby this year, and she's 17 years old. Do I think that her baby is her punishment for messing up? No! Having to deal with people looking down on her because of her age and having a child is probably a just reminder that she did in fact mess up. But the child of a teenager and the child of an adult should be loved just the same, regardless of the mother's age.

And as far as you saying that you haven't met one mature 16 year old that's ready for a baby...I have met quite a few people that are in their 20s that aren't mature enough to have a baby, but it's more acceptable for them to have children. Would it be okay to you if she had reached the magical "adult" age of 18? Just because the government tells you that you are an adult at 18 doesn't mean that you are mature enough to properly make decisions.

Just remember this the next time you start to look down on a teenage mother, just simply because of her age. The baby is not punishment.

you ministerpreted what I said. I didn't say that the BABY should be taken away; I said her tv show should be taken away.
I don't mean to be offensive but you may be a little biased as the product of ten pregnancy. To most parents, girls who got pregnant as teenagers are NOT role models, regardless of how well they raise their children because the parents most likely do not want that to happen to their daughters. And I don't want to give the impression that all sexual relationships are bad by any means, or that everyone should remain pure, but I do feel that you have to look at all of the circumstances here, and her getting pregnant right now doesn't seem to be a good thing

See my above post, it may change the response a little bit or it may not. it doesn't really matter to me though. opinions differ. though how can you compare kelly ripa's situation (as a mature adult. the parts of the brain that control judgement, decision-making, and thinking about long term consequences of actions are not fully developed even at 18. so there is a difference between being a mom at 16 and being a mom as an adult

Read my previous statement. Just because someone has reached the age that the government has set up to be considered an "adult" doesn't mean they are mature. And yes, I do know that the decision-making part of the brain is not fully developed by 18. Age isn't the only factor in being a great parent. Young parents will have to mature quickly to meet the demands of raising a child, and from the examples that I have, they do just as good of a job as the older parents do.

I know that. I've met some pretty immature 27 year olds.
I probably should of re-worded and said natural consequence. She knew what may happen.(maybe not though...lol) That probably makes more sense.

Anyways, she has a long and hard road ahead of her.

I mean like on Teen Nick or Nick at Night. They show the tv show Rosanne on Nick At Nite where the two main characters are getting "knocked up" so to speak.

Oh okay. But that Linda Ellerbee show is on Nickelodeon not Nick at Night. I dunno if it's on at the Teen Nick time.

With all do respect, I do not think that Jamie Lynn is a role model to anyone, and she should not be either. She is 16 years old. She is pregnant. If she was a role model b/c of this there would be a hell of a lot of teenage girls going to get pregnant. There is no way that she is a role model because of that.

Now, we all know that Mrs. Spears (who will be the babies grandmother) will look after the baby most of the time. Thats why shes being raised in Louisiana. Jamie's acting career just took off, and I will be my life savings that she will NOT give it up because she's got to change her babies diaper.

JMHO.

No arguement is need for this.

i apologize for misunderstanding you, but the tone of your post was really what upset me.

I was really suprised when I heard the news.
I mean, when I think Jamie Lynn, I think the little girl on Nickelodean.
But wow, I was shocked yesterday.

As far as the baby goes, I'm glad she's taking responisbility for it.
By this I mean, deciding against abortion.
