The Plan
Check in at Virgins Downtown Disney check in desk then spend the rest of the day in DisneyQuest.
The Reality
We arrived at the check in to be told that due to the hurricane our flight had been brought forward and that it would be the last one out before the airport was shutdown. Its a good job we planned to get there early as we could easily have missed our flight. Due to the need to get to the airport early we had a quick breakfast at McDonalds then joined the line for fuel. There were a lot of people waiting to fill up and head out of Disney World. We had been warned that the roads would be busy but we never really saw much traffic. On arrival at the airport it was chaos the line for checking in went right around the terminal because we had checked in earlier we went straight through security and got a table at the bar. Unfortunately the bar with its own brewhouse was undergoing refurbishment so was serving drinks out of a little cart. We settled on a couple of Buds, nachos and chicken wings.
The flight home was uneventful and we stayed awake watching films hoping to minimise the effects of jet lag. The only downside was Virgin upgraded a family with two young kids into the seats in front of us and they sat the kids in the row in front of us and the adults in front of them. The whole flight back was spent with them arguing, changing seats and generally misbehaving. I dont mind if people get upgraded seat perhaps one day I might get upgraded but if someone has paid big money for their seats you feel a bit cheated when this sort of thing happens.
Once we got back home it was a case of unpacking checking the post and email and getting ready to go back to work. For the first time after coming back after a holiday I had a fairly easy week. This was probably the reason I immediately started planning my next trip back.
