The Plan

Full day at Animal Kingdom and evening meal at Pleasure Island

The Reality

The day dawned bright and hot, and I made my daily journey to the food court for hot chocolate and coffee we gave up having food for breakfast after a couple of days. We headed straight to Kilimanjaro Safari and had a short wait. One thing to remember if you want to take pictures early on in the day make sure your camera has warmed up after a night in the air conditioning. We didn’t get any pictures of big and little red due to condensation in the lens. We had our longest wait of the holiday for the Kali River Rapids about 30 mins. It was very hot and the slight soaking we got on the rapids was well received. We rode Chester and Hester three or four times in a row without getting off as there was no one waiting. We could have stayed on for another go but we were both feeling a bit sick by then. We choose to eat at The Flame Tree Barbecue, and this was probably the only time I got annoyed during the whole holiday. We ordered something from the whole range, two beers, fries, ribs, and onion rings. They poured our beers and then waited and waited when the fries were ready there were no onion rings, when there was onion rings there was no ribs. It took about twenty minutes to get our fast food and all the time our beer was sat out in the warm. To be honest I was more upset about the beer than the length of time it took.

We took the train out to Rafiki's Planet Watch. It would be better if there was more to do out there or if there was a walking route back to the main park. It wastes a big part of the day waiting for the train at each end. We did spend a fair bit of time in the petting zoo with the goats. Fortunately we walked straight on to the train back so didn’t have to wait.

We grabbed a place for the parade and stood dripping in the heat. When the parade started we witnessed Brer Rabbit being lead away (still waving) from the parade probably due to the heat. We had fairly good positions and tried to let children through to the front. At 6ft 2 I am very conscious of getting in peoples way at this type of thing but then realise that if I got there half an hour before then everyone else could get there in good time as well.

We spent a long time taking photos and video of the new ride and look forward to getting to ride it. We were disappointed that Festival of the Lion King wasn’t running but this gave us a chance to go back at a later date.

After a long, hot, tiring day we headed to Pleasure Island for an evening meal. I wanted to eat at House of Blues but a forty minute wait put us off. We thought we would try Planet Hollywood and were let in straight away. On looking at our seating card we saw that it would be fifty minutes before dining. We left without telling anyone and felt guilty that someone was shouting Pringle party of two all night.

We went to the Rum Runner bar again and I had to fend off a bloke who was showing an unnatural interest in my drink. I think we finally ate at McDonalds and then took the boat back to POR unsuccessfully dodging the mosquitoes

I love to go to DTD and have fun with all the people watching as well.....I do have to say I would of told the place with the warm beer to get you some fresh beer where you had to wait so long for the food to come..........I have done this before and would of done it again..
thanks so much for your report.......
