I also had that $109 / night AP rate a couple of weeks ago. It was for a standard room, but I got a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe savannah view. I saw that the rack rate on that room was $350. I find that hard to believe and I certainly did not find the savannah view from our room to justify an extra $241 per night. I realize that this is a personal preference, but little of our time in the room was during daylight hours, and with 3 small children there was little time for animal watching. The public viewing areas were just fine too, and I used the public areas even with a savannah view room. I loved the hotel in general and would stay there again, but I can't see myself ever paying for a savannah room -- or I might do a split stay, with the majority of my time in a standard view, with a couple of days in the savannah view room. Just my opinion.

I have spend the last two hours reading through posts trying to find the AKL manager's e-mail address so I wouldn't need to ask a question that probably has been answered many times, but I give up! :) Could someone please let me know the email address so I can let the manager know of several wonderful cm's that we were fortunate to deal with during our last stay.
Love this thread! It was very helpful in gathering information for our stay at AKL. Thanks for your help. :)

Tnanks for your fast reply. A question though, since I want to commendate a couple of specific people from concierge, is it okay to sent it to concierge or is there a resort manager I can send commendations to. Bob and Theresa really made our stay special with their warmth and friendliness and I would really like to let management know. thanks again.

Kimmar67,
I will be sure to keep your friend in my prayers. Hopefully all will recover from that tragic accident.

Thanks...I believe he is still on life-support: they are trying to stabalize him; one of the other boys was on a ventilator... :rolleyes2

SamSam ~
I don't know SPECIFICALLY who would be considered "manager", but you can forward it to "Concierge Manager" and refer to those 2 CM's that made your stay so wonderful!

Thanks kimmar067, that's what I will do.
Please add my prayers for your friend.

Still trying to decide where to stay for our June trip, it is down to the AKL or the WL.

DH is a smoker, what are the choices for concierge and also for regular savannah rooms?

Thanks! :goodvibes

There is smoking on the 4th floor only...as for concierge, I suggest emailing them, using the link above..... :confused3

Sorry, some of my photos are a bit cliche, but at AKL you can't help but to take a lobby photo and a firepit photo, LOL.

NEW update:

Kidney, was NOT removed yet; drs. are still trying to see whether it is salvagable....however, he did have a ruptured spleen and broken pelvis...once he is stabilized for at least 24 hours with no other complications, they will arrange to have Richie transferred to Hackensack Medical Center....His face, neck and arms are all swollen and he is HEAVILY sedated on meds....although he is still critical and is in ICU, his mother wanted for his friends to see him, 2 at a time VERY BRIEFLY, to bring home the message: THIS IS WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU FROM MAKING BAD CHOICES!!! (apparently, there seems to be some involvement of illegal substances... )

Wow Kilmar life is just so short and you sure don't know what to expect from your kids. I am sure that they were just being kids and never figured it could happen to them. Here is continued prayers for all the boys and families involved.

Please add my prayers for your friends and their families. It is always a tragedy when young people are hurt, but the pain for parents must be greater if there is any indication that their child may have made a bad choice. Parenting teens never easy, is it? Strong parents to invite friends to visit. :grouphug:
