...I still have loads of pix to share - Christmas at WDW was so amazing, but, yes it did have its drawbacks, like the relentless crowds!

Can anyone tell me how the crowds are the first week of December? we are planning for Dec 2nd thru 8th. Its the tuesday after Thanksgiving.

We usually go the first week of February & are hoping for the same kind of crowd level.

Thanks in advance

DH & I were just there the first week of December and we thought it was busier than we had expected. We have been there during the second week of February and it was much busier in December than February.

We're thinking about staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge April 18th-26th, 2008. We've never stayed there before. We've only been to WDW one other time & that was last year. We stayed at the Beach Club then. So, I've got a few questions. I'm sorry if these have been asked before. I hate it that the search engine doesn't seem to be working.

1) I was wondering if this was going to be a really busy time since Easter & Spring Break will be earlier this year.

2) I know that there was construction going on in 2007, is this done now?

3) How is the pool there? Does anyone have any pictures?

4) Is the Savannah View worth the extra cost? Are you actually able to see the animals? This is one of the things that drew us to pick this hotel this time around.

5) What are the food options here?

I think that's it for now. Thanks for all of your help!

OK, I'll take a crack at some of your questions.

1) ?

2) Yes there is still some construction going on but I think that most of it now is on the new building.

3) I know that someone will be able to post pictures for you.

4) For me it was. I spent the late afternoons sitting on my balconny and watching the animals with an adult beverage of course.

5) There are 3 restaurants: Mara (counter service), Boma (table service buffet) and Jiko (signature restaurant). Here are the menus: Boma menu, Jiko menu, and Mara menu. I ate at all 3 restaurants during my May '06 trip and enjoyed them all.

I'll take #1!!! The crowds should be moderate (which is a good thing! :)) -- and definitely lighter compared to March and early April. :thumbsup2

Also, about the pool: I don't have any pictures handy, but it's one of the better WDW pools. I think most people will agree that BC/YC's pool, Storm Along Bay, is the best on property, but AKL's is not far behind!

And I agree with *Donald is #1* about the Savannah view. You can have a wonderful stay in a standard or pool view room and there are lots of public areas to view the animals on the savannah, but there's something so special about having a Savannah view room! :cloud9:

Kimmar, do you have a pool picture you can post for jeni16? :teeth:

Here are a couple of pool pictures:

These are from our trip in December:

In order to get a feel of the hotel, may I suggest taking a look at my in-depth review to be found at: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1484743 It also has lots of pictures.

Hi Flossbolna!! :wave2: Look at our timers!!! :yay: 16 days for you; 13 days for me!! :woohoo: (well, actually 12 - somehow I always end up being a day off!! :upsidedow)

Does anyone have any pictures of the animals they've seen from their rooms or is there a thread for this that I missed? I would love to see them.

This last one was from '06 - I think, but they had just had a new baby giraffe and we saw her a lot. DS loved her!!

Thanks for the picks! I'm really looking forward to staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in April & having a Savannah view. It will be nice to spend some afternoons just watching the animals.
