I usually get a little blue a few weeks after a trip, but combined with the January blahs is a double whammy. In March we are going to see some shows in Toronto and stay at a hotel for the weekend, that's what I am focusing on. Next Dec is too far away.

BUT... he came home sick from school today (102 temp and vomiting ) - told sis she'd better get that boy to the Dr. ASAP !!

I have a question about the refrigerators at AKL. We will be staying in a pool view room. Can anyone tell me if the fridge is big enough for a gallon of milk and a few other items such as can cokes or small fruit cups? What about 2 gallons of milk? (yes, we drink a LOT of milk)

If you are interested in getting good photographs of the animals while at Disney AKL, then you want to sign up for the Wanyama Safari. This is the one where they drive you around the AKL savannahs. It is in the afternoon, so the light is still good, and frankly the animals are much closer.

I am still figuring out what my plans will be for my May trip. However, I am hoping that I good AP rate will come out so that I can stay at the AKL. My original thoughts had been to get a Savanna view room so that I can enjoy & photograph the animals from my balcony. However, I have been reading a lot of the threads about the sunrise safari and now I am wondering about a concierge room. I also read that you can't guarantee whether you get safari or pool view when you book concierge. So, what are your recommendations?

Just thought I would pop in and let you AKL lovers know the latest news on AKV building. Some permits showed up on a goverment web site showing the placement of the AKV....

I copied and colored in the map to make it easier to see the buildings.

My countdown widget says 15 days 3 hours 33 minutes!! But that is until I get on the plane to cross the atlantic. Getting to WDW will be 14 hours later... I another 8 days I can start the one-week-wiggle!!

Just tried today to get ressies for a Savannah View on short notice with no luck so headed over to SSR. Planning on eating at Boma on Feb 1st.

Yah, 'huge' was the word that came to my mind too. Talk about looooong hallways! I hope there is enough space left in the savannah to feel open.

We stayed a AKL con. two years ago and loved it, loved the hotel. I hope that the flavor of AKL and the concierge will remain with this 'HUGE' addition. Do you guys know where the concierge rooms and lounge are going to go?

That was exactly my thought! Unless the new building only 1 story or something, but that would be odd.

Maybe the 5th & 6th floors are just temporary, to start until they get the new building built? But then, that doesn't make sense either, because they're going to be actually remodeling the rooms. Weird.

I don't think it's a temporary thing as they are renovating deluxe rooms to studios and they are moving the concierge lounge to the 4th floor somewhere.

It's sad I can understand them building a new DVC and that's a good thing, but the changes to AKL are bad IMO

Update on trip planning.... Well, somehow when I applied a coupon code a while back on my ressies, it changed my "deluxe pool view" to a "water/pool view". I am so upset and there is nothing I can do to change it back. I have called several times and keep getting the same answer. "It's booked solid". I don't understand how this could have happened when I specifically asked when applying that code if the room type or ANYTHING would change and was told "no". I want to add a night to our reservations also and I can't do that either! We are going from the 10-15 and I wanted to add one more night to the end which would put us checking out on the 16th instead. That is a Friday morning. I didn't think adding a night would be so difficult since it's "technically" not the weekend yet.

I'm trying so hard to keep my chin up right now and keep a positive outlook....yes we are still going to Disney World and will have a good time. I just don't like planning for something in advance to have it start falling apart before we even leave the house.

We will be arriving early on check in day. Does anyone have a good "area" or specific room that I should ATTEMPT to request?? With this "view" I am now told that we are limited to the 1st or 2nd floor. I would prefer the 2nd.

glewis1123: although I loved your suggestion I didn't even have to use it! I called WDW yesterday and asked the CM to check for a pin code and I had one. Got a great quote on a pool view w/bunk beds, and DH said go for it! Actually I got a great quote for a savannah view as well but we had to draw the money line somewhere. So then I emailed my TA and she got it for $120 less than I had been quoted! I am SO excited, and keeping the secret from my DS's is really hard now. Oh yeah, had to change my dates by one day 12/9 - 12/16 (Sun-Sun instead of Sat-Sat) but that was no big deal. I am doing the happy dance all around the house!

So, what's a good room to request for pool view?
