Thanks to this thread, I have fallen in love with the AKL! It's all your fault! This is not good! I am booked for the ASMo in December. My 2 little boys are going to love it (they love Buzz and Woody!). DH and I both like the value resorts, no problems with busses or food court lines. We don't spend $$$ on hotels as a rule. I've never even considered staying anywhere else. And now I'm obsessed. I must stay at AKL! But how? I mentioned it to DH - he laughed. No really, I mean it. He kept laughing. Come on, it'll only cost double what we're paying now. Laughing still. How do I do it, experts? How do I convince DH? How do I justify it to myself? I'm praying to the postcard code/pin fairy every night!

I am still figuring out what my plans will be for my May trip. However, I am hoping that I good AP rate will come out so that I can stay at the AKL. My original thoughts had been to get a Savanna view room so that I can enjoy & photograph the animals from my balcony. However, I have been reading a lot of the threads about the sunrise safari and now I am wondering about a concierge room. I also read that you can't guarantee whether you get safari or pool view when you book concierge. So, what are your recommendations?

We booked directly as we were told we would have a better chance. I spoke with IPO and told them we definitely wanted savannah , zebra trail, arusha rock. When we got there, they took us to a pool view room! We politely told the bellman that wasn't what we wanted, and he took us out to the desk and they said that they would get us another room, but we would have to wait until the afternoon when people were checking out. We ended up with a kudu trail, sunset view, but at least we got animals!

I wrote to dreams unlimited and got a good quote w/AAA card and split stay the first time we went. Using them again this time Once DH was there he loved it.

Split stay is a great idea and I had not considered it before! I might be able to do it with AAA or an AP rate. Thanks!

This was going to be my advice for the OP ~~ but ya beat me to it............
Well, you can wait to go and save up the $$ or wait for free dining AND a code, then apply them both.......... perhaps you'll also get free hopper upgrades with the code -- with all those savings maybe you can convince him!!! OR ~~ Well, you could, you know!!!!!

We will be at AKL this fri for a few nites before heading over to BWV..Our last few stays there we were strictly beer drinkers and lately we've been sampling the red wines..
Do they have a good selection at Zawadi?? We will be at Jiko for dinner and look forward to some variety of wine there...
