My son is supposed to leave Iraq today. He will be in Kuwait for 48 hours and then off to Germany. He should be on his way home from Germany Nov. 15. I haven't heard from him for several days, so I'm hoping everything goes as planned.

I hope you enjoy your time with your daughter and her husband. Post some pics....

Angel16: We went to all the parks a few times. This time we actually took full advantage of the park hopping option. Went also to the water parks a few times. We did go to the Wide World of Sports Complex. Wasn't what we thought it was going to be. We were told that there is an area where our sons could have done things but it was shut down that day. There were soccer tournaments going on. We looked around and within an hour we were back on a bus.

As for food we ate dinner and breakfast at Chef Mickey's. It is our favorite. We also had breakfast at Ohana's and Donald's Breakfastauraus. We did the Hoop Dee Doo and Spirit of Aloha and enjoyed them both. Wonderful shows and the food was great too.

We ending up taking over 250 pictures. I just got them downloading last night. My DH and I are thinking of doing that disneyphotomovie. We will have to set aside some time to do that.

Took a lot of pictures at the lodge and of the animals. My DS's sure miss waking up and seeing them. Now we wake up, hear and see cars down the street. Sure not the same.

Myself and my DS age 13 will be at WDW Dec 4 thru 10, but looking to stay a extra day, here is my problem.....

we have ressies at WL for Dec 4 thru 10 (courtyard room), but they dont have a extra day to be able to stay in the same room. My son wants to stay at AKL Savannah view but dang that would be a extra 630.00.

I was looking at disney website for my timeframe and AKL has many types of rooms available, If i booked a Standard room do you think i could get a upgrade to savannah, and if i dont get the upgrade what are the standards like and where are they located.........

Just wanted to say that the Concierge Rooms on the fifth floor are just the deluxe rooms with concierge privileges.

Rumor - of construction / renovation at AKL and specifically the Concierge levels and Concierge lounge area.

Is this true?

I'm a bit cocerned -
that it will impact on our upcoming vacation in November.
Sorry to be a worrywart. Anyone heard anything about this?

I spoke to Don in the AKL IPO about this a little over a week ago. He said that right now all plans for a potential rehab are on hold until at least 2007 and nothing definitive is planned yet, if it happens at all. We are going in Jan 2007 and he said nothing will be happening then, so your Nov vacation should be safe.

Disney Travel told me standard views are of like the parking lot, or something of that nature. For a bit more you can get a pool view. I was told to hope for an upgrade, but don't go expecting on ( we are going for our honeymoon). I am not sure on personal experience on how the views are this is our first trip to WDW, so I just booked the better room did not want a parking lot view. I would suggest if you really want a savannah view go ahead and get it. If not there are many observation areas in hotel from what we were told. Good luck and have a great trip

...it really depends upon what time of year you are going...we were there for the beginning of the Free Dining (Aug 13) and it was 'filled to the gills'....if you REALLY want a specific view/room, I suggest paying for it - if it's not that big a deal, stay with what you can afford and HOPE for an upgrade...

...I don't believe that it will start until spring 2007....even if it WAS to start in November, they would prepare a TEMPORARY concierge lounge for the guests...it's not likely that construction would begin during the holiday season....

Viki-Are the animal pictures you posted on your trip report all taken from your balcony? If so, I can't see why some people think the 5th floor is too far from the action and not close enough to the animals.

Yes, all of them are from the 5th floor and it is absolutely not too far from the action. I think it's perfect!
