I know that several of you are concerned with getting to your breakfast destinations on a timely basis - I am [right now] trying to find out when the buses ACTUALLY begin running in the morning, and how early you should be at the AKL bus stop....will post more info later......

The buses are all up and running by 7am. MK buses are usually going by 6:45 with the others falling in between then and 7:05. Are they doing a resort Character Breakfast or a park? If it is a resort they can take the MK bus and advise the driver that they are going to the Contemporary for Breakfast and the bus driver will drop them off (unless MK is open already)... if it is Cape May at BC they can take the MGM bus and advise the driver they are having breakfast at BC and they will drop them off (again unless MGM is open already). **The drivers are supposed to stop for Resort Character breakast guests provided they are advised when you board.

...hope this helps.....

Some of you may want to adjust or add to your dinner ressies:

Certain restaurants around the World will have extended hours from August 13, 2006 through September 4, 2006, as follows:

-- Boma will begin seating 30 minutes earlier for dinner.
-- Chef Mickey will offer a lunch buffet from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
-- Concourse Steakhouse will begin seating 60 minutes earlier for dinner.
-- Grand Floridian Cafe will begin seating 60 minutes earlier for dinner.
-- 'Ohana will begin seating 60 minutes earlier for dinner.
-- 'Ohana will extend seating by 60 minutes for breakfast.
-- Liberty Tree Tavern, Crystal Palace and Tony's Town Square will all have extended dinner hours (varies by day).
-- Mickey's Backyard BBQ is adding shows on August 18, 25 and September 1.

Thanks for the update on this kimmar. That falls during part of my stay. C

Yeah I think your advice will help a lot of people out. I have never had a problem getting an early bus from AKL for either a tour or Breakfast reservation. As Tyler always said trust the purple pants when it comes to info about disney transport.

Hi

We are booked in a pool view room. I was just wandering if that means we will get a balcony. I prefer that over a patio since we would like to hang out after DS goes to sleep. Also, never been to AKL before. Tell me good things. Are there activities for DS, how is bus service? Will DH like the food? He is more of a meat and potatoes type guy. Counting down the days and sitting in my office and daydreaming about my next trip. Lastly, does anyone have the drink menu for the pool bar, would love to anticpate yummy creations ahead of time. Thanks! :cool1:  :cheer2: :hourglass :yay: :dance3:

The Majority of the Pool view rooms have actual balconies. The rooms that are located on the first floor have enclosed patios. There are lots of activites at the resort that you can do(decorating cookies, animal viewing, etc). Check the activites board when you arrive for current times and locations (to the left of the front desk). Where are you planning on eating at AKL. I think there will be plenty of options for your DH.

I use the 20 rule.... 20 minutes at each stop, 20 for travel, 20 to walk from place to place to get where you are going. When in doubt, grab a cab! Please remember, if you need to get to MK go to the Contemporary and walk it, or go to the GF and monorail it. If you tell the cab MK you go to the TTC and you still have a ferry or monorail wait.

Thanks for this hockeymom-I think this sounds like a good and safe rule of thumb to use-that way if you want to do something shorter you can plan for a cab...

Kimmar-if the buses are up by 7, and if you had a character breakfast at Ohana at 8:10-do you know what time the MK resort monoral runs...ie if we were out at the bus stop at AKL by 7:10 and say got the bus by 7:30 to MK, got there by 7:50-I'm assuming at that point the resort monorail is probably running a continuous loop.... :confused3

Wendy...sorry that the tag fairy has a hard heart... :sad2: (Thanks for the ebay tips..safari Mickey and Minnie came today...to cute.... :sunny: ...already received safari outfit...just waiting for hat... :thumbsup2

So many people gone, going or soon to be...expecting great trip reports.... :surfweb:

I'm not kimmar, but the resort monorail opens at 7:00am.

Hey Kimmar ~~ This is for part of our stay!! Do you know why they are doing this??? Is the free dining the reason??? Do you think they are really "THAT" booked??? Just wondering why they are doing this :confused3

Hey Patricia ~~ Been wondering where you've been!!! I'm so glad you got the Safari Mickey & Minnie!!! I love the little outfit too and the hat!!!!! :rolleyes1 LOL I'm getting so excited now.......... right around 3 weeks!!!!! :woohoo: Oh, don't be too hard on the Tag Fairy!!!! LOL,
I guess if I try real hard to be good, the Tag Fairy will eventually sprinkle me with some pixie dust again!!!! ;)

 I'm so excited- we paid the remainder of our package today...that means the trip is almost here!! Well, still way too far away for me, but at least it seems closer now!! :Pinkbounc

I am so jealous! You all are going back to the AKL and so soon for some of you. Yesterday, my 4 YO DGD said, "Nana, I wish we were back at the Animal Kingdom Lodge." "Baby, I wish we were there too." Last year as we were packing she said that she never wanted to leave.....:sad1:

So have fun, and take a picture for Kady.

Yes Wendy, they really are that busy during free dining. I've been trying for over a month to get dinner ressies at Boma during our stay and they're booked. I call almost every day, just in case. And it's just me and my DD8, not like we take up much room!

I've heard some restaurants have lots of open time but some of the most popular places are really booked.

....if I were you, I'd let the bus driver know where you are headed. If he/she doesn't drop you off at the Poly, it is a very short walk from the TTC to the Poly....
