...Ok, this is too funny because I have been buying up stuff on E-bay to make welcome purses for my mom and sister. I have straw purses that I'm filling with all sorts of travel size "spa escape esq" (warming face mask, foot soak, toning lotion, aloe vera, etc) and a few disney related items (hand held fan, chapstick w/spf, cool wrap neck ties) items for them. The other day on Disney shopping I picked up some cute eeyore flip flops for my sister to put in her purse. I will just have to kick my mother out of the room while I get it all set-up. I'm also doing a basket from Peggy with some disney goodies and a plush for me and my sister....

Just returned on Sunday from our trip. We were there from 7/14 utnil 7/23.

I absolutely LOVE AKL!!!

We were in room 5303. My 3 yo dd has cried everyday since we have returned because she can't look outside & see giraffes & zebras!!!

AKL is now my favorite resort!

Mousekeeping was excellent. We had so many towel animals it wasn't funny.... We ran out of places to put them!!

The resort is absolutely gorgeous! The staff was wonderful.

wendypooh 39 more days away!!!! I'm getting so home sick for the lodge and the domes. I hope you post a pic of your DS's ostrich egg when you return. Our tickers are finally gaining some momentum
Lostgirlz I would say AKL to MK is closert to the 30 minute mark
newholidayx2There is no walking path around the lodge and I think it seems larger than WL with the expansive wings.
shyjade On EMH morning only TL and FL are open. TT opens at 10:00am pretty much every day (I'm assuming during busy times there are exceptions). Generally there is not a rope drop at each land...at least not in the off season. I would check out Peggy's site for stuff from WDW ahead of time or contact Disney directly. Most people that are selling stuff have a pretty large mark-up on it.

kimmar067 Don't forget to tune in tomorrow...you are almost there look at your ticker go WE might have to be on-line buddies (you janet and me) for the Special K Diet. The Puppy is very active and loves to get into everything and travel upstairs (we don't let him on the upper floor). He is getting so big in a 9 days he gained 7lbs.

tinknmeI think those descriptions just make me want to eat them more! My mom and I are both going to try and do the Special K diet together so we can be buddys!! hmmmm I don't remember the part about no snacks and nothing after dinner though...that could be a downfall.

Well, if you plan on bidding on any Safari Mickey items, you better get ready for a bidding war, man that Patricia is a scrapper!!! LOL Kidding!!!!!!!!!!!! That is sweet you are making "arrival purses" for your mom and sis!!! Peggy does a great job!!! I knew she had stopped making baskets for awhile. I think I recall her saying her DD was acting and they went out to LA. I'm glad she's back at it though!!

Can you believe we are at 38 days now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and yeah, DS was beside himself, he was tearing that bag apart trying to get his Pal Mickey out!!!

CoolDisneyCat -- I love the idea of making turn down service fun for kids. Do you have the request special things, or does that often happen?

We never requested anything .. we just came in to find her stuffed animals like that!
I've noticed housekeeping does so fun things with stuffed animals often!

If you are looking for something special to add in a gift basket, try purchasing a WDW name tag...I had ordered one for my DS, Dylan, and the DD's of our friend, the last time we visited AKL....they never took them OFF (well, except to go swimming! )during our vaca....

Thanks Everyone for the merchandise info!

I've found tons of great trinkets to put in a basket for DD8...Dollar Tree had an entire display of Tinkerbell merchandise last week! Erasers, pencils, post-its, notebook...and a variety Disney Princess stampers. Michaels had a bunch of Disney Princess crafts in the dollar bin, and tubes of glow bracelets (15/$1)! I've been stocking up on things I find to surprise her with little gifts on our trip. Too bad she knows the characters "aren't real" so there's no hope of surprising her with a gift basket/bag from Mickey. But it will still be fun for her to get some goodies!

I think I will order a basket from Peggy, although I can't go "all out". Just wish there was a way to incorporate her basket with the trinkets I've been purchasing along the way!
