Does it really matter how I word the question? I just simply said that most pool view rooms are smoking rooms. Meaning most smoking rooms are pool rooms. Its all the same thing. ;)

By the way, Im sick. I cant think straight when Im sick.

...first of all, I hope that you are feeling better.....as for how you worded the query, yes, it DOES make a difference how it was worded. While most of the smoking rooms are located in the pool-view area, MOST of the rooms that happen to be pool-view rooms are NOT smoking rooms. There are also smoking std rooms at the AKL which overlook the parking lot. As of the last time I visited AKL [in Aug 2006] there were no savannah-view smoking rooms, because they [CM's] did not want guest flitting their ashes/butts into the animal areas. In fact, they have a STRICT policy that no food [or beverages] may be thrown into ANY area that contains animals. There is also a waiver form that you must sign - break this rule and you will be asked to vacate the premises.....if I sounded somewhat 'gruff' in my post, I didn't mean to be so stern-sounding. I just wanted to clarify the 'smoking room situation' for other readers.....

I cant recall how many times Ive read on the boards and online that savannah only have non-smoking rooms. Maybe that CM isnt to informed. Best way to find out is to call the AKL directly and ask.

It wasn't just one CM, but several. I would think that one of them would have said, "I am sorry but there are no smoking rooms in the Savannah view category."

I also asked here, many pages back:

There are smoking optional savannah rooms or at least there were on our last trip to AKL 2 years ago - the thing is is that you are NOT ALLOWED to smoke on the balcony because of the animals. Should a cigarette butt accidentally fall into the savannah and be ingested by one of the animals or possibly starting a fire.

I dunno. I will definitely ask again when I call for CL.

BTW, I am the only one who hates the search function? It rarely works. I tried to find a post. I clicked on my profile name <------to the left & clicked on find all posts... what do I get? Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

I think I officially have gone AKL crazy. When I went to go get my meds yesterday from the pharmacy, well they have ty beanie babies there and I am a huge collector of them. Well I saw a Giraffe and instantly thought of AKL and just had to buy it! Am I going crazy or what? :rotfl: I REALLY wish December 6th would get here already! Still seems so farrrrrr away.

It's possible the photos I'm about to ask for reside somewhere in the 500 pages of this thread but having only looked at 50 of them I may have missed it.

I would like to see more photos of AKL - rooms, hallways, grounds, bathrooms, check-in, that sort of thing. I've looked at the pics here, on TGM, what I've found through Googling, and other threads, but what happens is there is an overwhelming number of photos of the savannas and the animals. I'm interested in see the appointments of the hotel, etc. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the animals and all I just want to see more of the other stuff too.

Sorry for not being politically correct for once. I am just going by what I have read on these boards, and from what I read most of the rooms that have a pool view are smoking rooms. I wasnt even talking about standard rooms. I know there are standard view rooms that are smoking rooms. I really dont care what view has the most smoking and non-smoking rooms. All I care about is getting there and getting a room that isnt a smoking room and its not even near one. And if they cant get us in a room that we have booked thats non-smoking and near a room that does allow smoking, then I guess they need to move us to another room or give us an upgrade. But I know one thing for sure. I dont care if I have to go down to the front desk a zillion times to get the room I want. I will do it, if need be.

...this is all I am going to say about this subject, and then we must move on:

There is only one floor delegated for smoking - you will not get a room near a smoking room if that is what you requested....

Kimmar067-are the frig's built in somewhere or are they placed underneath the vanity/sink area?

Thanks for letting me know about the microwave.

Someone else had said there weren't any in Mara but then I read that there were so just trying to confirm that one. Do they frown upon bringing your own food (like microwave pancakes, etc?) I'm on a special diet and would like to try to keep "kinda" to it while I'm at WDW.;)

OK - I'm going to chime in here for a minute. ;) I don't know which rooms are smoking, which are non-smoking at AKL - but here's my latest NON-SMOKING POOL VIEW experience!! (we spent Christmas at AKL) Our rooms #3416 & 3422 were on Zebra Trail, 3rd floor (lobby level), first building of rooms off the lobby. Odd # rooms are savannah view; even # rooms are pool view. We never smelled any evidence of smoking in our hallway, rooms, or balconies. The location was great, the rooms very clean. What I requested on our reservations was "non-smoking, zebra trail, near lobby". #3422 had one Queen and bunk beds; #3416 two Queens.

HTH - now everybody play nice!

Not Kimmar, but I can tell you about the fridges. They are standalone, in the corner, on same side as entertainment armoire. Okay, fiance says there is definitely a micro in Mara, near the condiment section near seating area.

Have you looked at the ones on allearsnet? http://allearsnet.com/acc/g_akl.htm

Okay....I guess I really need to call, because I am reading something different with every post. My luck, I will get a CM who knows nothing...

I would call and ask to be transferred to AKL directly. Talk to someone at the front desk and I think you should get a good answer. I talked directly to them when I called to find out about the chocolate soy milk. They transferred me several times but I did get an answer from a very nice CM. GL

Good idea. I think I will do that. Then maybe I can get a "final" answer, lol!

The search function straight up SUX!   I'm amazed my comments on this subject haven't gotten me banned as i hate this stupid search engine. I'd ask you to search for them, but they probably wouldn't be found.

BTW, i just changed up my ressie last week from Savannah view bunks to a standard non-Savannah room view. The code transferred over fine without a problem. I'm saving over $400.00 bux with the switch. WOOHOO! Now i'm hoping for the free Savannah room upgrade like we got in August.

Well, I am glad that I am not alone. I can find NOTHING with it...

....the refriges are located next to the closet - not near/under the sink area. As for the microwaves, there are two of them on the far wall in the dining area...:)
