I will be there Next Sunday, any chance on being up-graded for my Birthday, or should I not bother?:confused3

Possible but don't count on it. We were there for my DD's and my b'days (3 days apart) and the only special things done were things I had arranged myself.

I have read quite a few trip reports by people staying in bunkbed rooms that connect to another room. I have a savannah view bunkbed room booked for our upcoming trip, and I'm just wondering what the chances are that our room will have a door that connects to another room. Not a huge big deal, but I travel a lot and try to stay away from connecting rooms if possible, just because of the possibility that the people staying in the other room might be loud, especially at night.

Should I expect to get a room with a connecting door?

Thanks!

AKL rooms do not have connecting doors. HTH

So glad to find this thread. :goodvibes We are planning a bday celebration trip 7/30 to 8/3 at AKL. Love finding other people that have stayed here! :cool1:

You know?! My DH and I took our son for his 5th birthday, and had an amazing trip. As far as an upgrade, it doesn't hurt to ask if there is any way to upgrade. However, if you booked a certain room then obviously it was a room you were willing to stay in, so don't get too disappointed if you aren't able to upgrade. We took my son to Boma for dinner, and they decorated a special little plate that said "Happy 5th Birthday" with a little cupcake and candle. We had an AMAZING time at AKL, even though they didn't do anything "SPECIAL" for us.

There are AKL rooms with connecting doors - we've stayed in them before.
Agree Same here. I assume they're scattered about but both times we had one were Sav View Kudu Trail.

The sun is out while in the room the TV flashes a warning.

Does anyone have any information about the special programs that are offered at AKL? Like this one ..... I read about on allearsnet.com.

--Adventure Camp for children 6-14 that includes ostrich egg painting, private lodge tour and lunch overlooking the savanna.

Do they still offer this program, and if so does anyone have any more information on it?

Dana

Hey everyone. DH and I are gonna have dinner at Boma the day we arrive and I am gonna be letting the dinning reservations people know that we are gonna be celebrating our anniversary. Have any of you celebrated an anniversary at Boma and got anything? Also did AKL did anything like gave you a upgrade or some special surprise in your room? Also has had anyone had the zebra cake? Is it good? Worth the money? Im gonna ask this over at the cake thread to, but thought I would ask you guys as well. Also can the cake be picked up or delivered to the room or have it delivered to Boma?

Good morning, everyone! Just a few questions to get me started today...

What does "Jambo" mean? I'm assuming it's a greeting?

Are Deluxe CL rooms still available? I had one held a few weeks ago for our trip in December, but I haven't been able to bring it up on the website again. I think I read somewhere that they might do away with, or start limiting these rooms because of the DVC thing. Any word?

Here is information about most of the AKL activities.

I wish we had more time to do them. It was our first trip to Disney, and found we needed to "break" during our afternoon breaks. I think it's best to set aside a day to just hang out at AKL if you want to really enjoy the activities.

We returned from AKL a few weeks ago. While we have a lot of photos, we don't seem to have many of AKL with the exception of the photos we took on the Wanyama safari. I couldn't take photos myself because of a disability, and I didn't want to feel as if I was nagging my family to take more photos. If anyone has any photos that they would be willing to share, I would love to add to my collection so that we can have more memories of our experience. I'm looking for general photos of AKL (either the sign, hotel or other exterior shots) or interesting interior shots (lobby, concierge lounge, Christmas decorations, gift shop, restaurants, etc.). Also, if anyone has any pictures of the Royal Kuba Suite, that would be great too. We took a few, but we hurredly took them right before we left, and some didn't turn out well. I know that when I was looking at pictures posted prior to my trip, there were some great shots of AKL.

If anyone has photos they would be willing to share, please PM me. Thanks in advance for your help.

I got the wonderful code and booked the AKL for 8 nights in December with the dining plan..It would be 200$ more total if I switched my room to concierge... Is it worth my while to switch to concierge with all of the food I would get on the DP?

Just so you know,I probably would not book the sunrise savannah..I am so not a morning person and out of consideration to the other guests,I won't ruin their tour.

Just wondering if you ended up switching? I called to switch to concierge & was told that concierge was not available with the discount... :sad2:

Tiggrbaby, thank you so much - the menu sounds amazing. Less than 2 months to go!

Happy to be able to help! It was amazing! It will be so exciting to plan, and even more exciting to be there.

:offtopic: Just wanted to come by and post my 500th post here on my favorite board!!!!!

Still pondering over Concierge or not but I think we are going to go for it!!! I am kinda excited about it. Hope everyone has a great night.

Well, I called CRO again last night to try for concierge. No luck. This time I was told that there were no rooms available but to call back in a few days in case there are cancellations.

I am going to call daily...

I have a question about transportation. I am assuming buses run from AKL to all the parks and DTD. I do have one day that I will be going to Poly for an 8 am breakfast at Ohana. Can someone direct me what would be the easiest way to get there and how much time I should allow? TIA
