Jambo or Kidani?

I didn't read every post entirely and I don't know if someone said this already but if you're planning to stay at AKV anyway - why not split the stay and try both? You could book 4 nights at Jambo and 3 nights at Kidani (for example: 1 week trip). It would be simple to have your bags moved from one building to the other and you'd get to experience both during one trip. Then you could see if one area is more to your liking for a future trip :goodvibes

Just curious, but don't you think it's awfully shortsighted not to have a counter service location at Kadani? Does anyone know if there will be transportation (i.e. bus stops) to get from kadani to Jambo and visa versa?
Thanks!

It's one of the only things I worry about. However, in talking to our guide, he said there would be some grab and go selections at the pool bar, and in the marketplace/giftshop. We'll see if that turns out to be true.

For sure, not likely to be as extensive as Mara's offerings, but something, at least.

For some reason, Disney has decided that they really do not want to compete with hundreds of in-room kitchens by offering a good, varied menu CS at DVC resorts.

Although I've mostly gotten over the need for a quick meal at the resort (do that in the parks, instead) This last AKV trip made me wish for the value's desert counter. (Occassionally, we'd grab a scoop of ice cream after a day in the parks) Well, AKV does not have an ice cream stand, so we headed to the resort store, and decided it is not all bad to get a pint of Haagen Daaz. Well, back in the studio, our plastic spoons just bent, so a little time in the microwave, not enough, then a little more.... chocolate milk :(
Such a tough life spending time at WDW!

Yes, but not everyone goes to the parks every day (we don't). Or sometimes we don't stay until closing, so come 9 or 10 pm we're pretty hungry. And how about those off-season times when the parks close early ? You can really get the munchies when you left the park at 6 or 7 pm and it's now 10 or 11 pm ? Nice to have a quick and convenient place to eat. I love your idea of the ice cream counter. But my kids also love those zebra domes that can be found at Mara. We may have to stay at Jambo just so we can have easy access to Mara and other C/S yummies. Has anyone had the African bread bowl stew at Mara. Wow, that's good.
