okay which do I pick?

got jambo house studio standard - so pool view.

but budget trip (out of work - forced to retire early - so won't be eating at Boma (which was my originally reason)

so which.

I would stick with Jambo because you're closer to Mara. It seems that at Kidani, "standard" mostly means parking lot view. I'm staying in Jambo next week because of Mara being closer. I think DH and I would rather have that convenience than Kidani's pool area.

I would say Kidani since both buildings have all the same booking categories except the value category at Jambo - so if you ever plan on staying in a value room you can only do so at Jambo, therefore I would stay at Kidani for the other categories.

I just had to make the same decision for my solo trip in January, and here's why I decided on Jambo House - very close proximity to inexpensive dining at Mara and I like the feeling of being part of the larger, original AKL. I feel like Kidani is set apart by itself, but some people might like that feeling of being only with other DVC members. And I've stayed at AKL before and loved the lobby and atmosphere.

definitely do standard view at Jambo House. You are guaranteed a pool view on a high floor. I was very disappointed with the standard view at Kidani, but loved it at Jambo.

We are contemplating a cash stay in December (we're out of points), but looking for a studio at AKV. We have a 3 year old daughter - so, would you choose Kidani or Jambo (and why)?

I too am very wishwashy on which to stay. We are coming Oct 12-17 prior to our Disney Magic cruise. There are only 2 of us. In April we stayed 2 nights at Jambo house in a cash reservation. We really loved it. The hot tub near the fitness center was wonderful.

Jambo-pro/cons

2. better hot tubs
3. Mara
4 better views

Kidani-
1. newer
2. bigger rooms
3- 1st bus stop

no QS
small store
studio will here buses every am

We did a small tour in May and liked what we saw but do not like that there is no QS and loved the view at Jambo. I am going to add a day but I want to tell them for sure where. Plus we are also coming back in Jan for 3 night. Or mabye do Jambo in Oct and Kidani in Jan or vice verse. Has anyone booked a standard and gotten upgraded to a Savanah?

Yes. All Jambo standard villas are actually pool views. Jambo value villas can be pool/savanna/parking lot.

Only the top couple of floors of AKL were converted from the regular hotel rooms into DVC, so you always have a high floor. The Standard & Savanna villas are converted from the previous deluxe rooms. The Value villas are converted from the previous regular rooms. The deluxe rooms were bigger so the Standard & Savanna villas are bigger than the Value villas.

Because Jambo is the original Animal Kingdom Lodge and only the 5th and 6th floors were converted to DVC. Gotta love a guarantee like that.
