JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

The food at Boma looks delicious! So glad you had a lovely Dis-meet dinner!
Whoooa does that pina colada sound strong! Hey-- you were on vacation! ;)

Hi!! A new reader & I'm hooked!! Great TR - isn't AKL just the best place ever?!?! :)

I'm glad you're all having a great time!!

- Katie

You made the right choice with TL over BB - I preferred that water park out of the two of them. Great pics from 2007!

Lol at the great drinks and the results it had! Also in my opinion you can't beat a lazy pool at a water park :cloud9:

Mmm Boma...such a beautiful restaurant. How did Jeff manage to put away 7 plates?!

Great birthday cake - it looks delish!

Whoo Hoo Queen got her drink on LOL!! I also lied Boma for dinner. That was a really cute cake!!

They were a pretty good group to hang out with. They even lived here on the east coast at one time so that means they are really good people. :lmao:

Great group shots!!! It sounds like you had a terrific dinner.

Since I don't drink much, I probably would have asked for a "good drink"...:lmao:

I love that you gave us pictures of 2007 since you didn't have 2011!

Glad dinner was delish...Our Thanksgiving is on Thursday...it gives us the whole weekend to watch football and eat leftovers. :cloud9:

Okay, so I thought I was doing well at not getting behind, and I was doing a great job of reading all your posts, not so good at commenting on the posts. I tend to have a little commentary running in my head while I read and then something or someone disrupts me and I don't end up making the comments :rolleyes1 I couldn't believe how long ago it was that I actually posted a comment!

So here are all my comments:

-I think Jeff is a keeper, its great how he was playing with the kids in the pool :thumbsup2
-Love the pics of the boat ride from DHS to Epcot, makes me very excited for the 2 nights DH and I are staying at the Swan on our upcoming trip (shameless plug...I started a PTR, the link is in my siggie :))
-Ella was looking at the Epcot pics with me and she thinks Jeff's Dis name should be Goofy since he was having fun and being goofy trying on the hats
-So sweet how close MM was sticking to you at DHS, she sure seems to love her auntie. I'm sure its an honour to be the "1st time ride partner"!
- Glad that the non-queasy folks enjoyed Star Tours - its at the top of my list for our DHS day
- The treats at the dessert party look super yummy, too bad the other guests were so rude. I'm glad it didn't ruin your evening.

As for the non-trip related discussions...poutine is very tasty, I think I remember more of my Canadian history from those commercials than from school, and while our house is full of Leaf fans we are very excited for you to have the Jets back!

I know all about real life getting in the way! I completely understand....these past two weeks have been very chaotic around our house and in a few days I should be able to fill you in on that...but just know it's consumed all my free time and kept me away from the Dis!

We agree that Jeff is a keeper, the girls all adore him!! I can't wait to tell Jeff that you'll be staying at the Swan, he loved the look of that hotel and told Jasmine he wants to eventually stay there on one trip!

MM is definitely my bud, but don't kid yourself, she drops me like a hot potato for Jasmine, they are like peas and carrots those two!

It is just the best having the Jets back, my branch is downtown so when there is a homegame the energy is amazing! To support them, we all dress in Jets wear for all their home games, it's just the best!

I love Typhoon Lagoon! It's definitely a must do for me now as well.

Too funny about the Pina Colada! I think it's happened to the best of us. :lmao:

How great that you had such a great dinner at Boma. Nothing better than good dinner and good friends.

Everytime I think of the effects of that Pina Colada it makes me laugh!

You are so right sister....good friends and good food...it doesn't get any better than that:thumbsup2

That is too funny about the super strong drink at TL! Good to know! ;) So funny that you couldn't even get up after drinking it! :rotfl: I'd like to drink one of those bad boys and then float in the lazy river. Of course, drowning could be a possibility. :rotfl:

Your Boma meal sound absolutely fabulous! What a wonderful meal with a DIS meat to boot! Can't believe Jeff had 7 plates. WOW! Where does he put it????? :confused3

Funny Boma story. My GF from work went to Disney and Universal a couple weeks ago and stayed off site. Her husband didn't come until later in the trip. She had a Jiko reservation for her and her children one night (that's all she could get). I recommended that she try in the morning to change it to Boma and score - she got in! :thumbsup2 When her husband arrived two days later she tried for another Boma reservation and couldn't get one, so they just went and put their name in. 15 minutes later they were at a table. Everything was booked because of free dining, so as hard as she tried to get reservations in advance - no go! She liked Boma so much she went back a second time from an off sight location. That's true love! :goodvibes

Just the thought of me trying to get into one of those tubes after that drink makes me crack up...drowning would have been a huge possibility:lmao:

I would love to be able to eat like that boy....the best is after our friends left that night to go back to their resort, he was hungry! I made him two sandwiches and then he went to bed:rolleyes1 Let me tell you, Jeff's appetite was one of the highlights of our trip!

Love that story....I love Boma that much too! Thanks for sharing:hug:

Almost forgot - adorable cake!!!! It looks super yummy!

It was so delicious, but it doesn't take a lot to please me when it comes to cake:lmao:

You can always tell Jasmine that it is "5 o'clock somewhere!"

That was a great meal at Boma and the pool area was great (even though the bar had closed). I couldn't imagine sitting in the pool for the entire movie though.

Will do:cool1:

Oh me neither....have only ever grabbed glimces of the movies!

That picture of the two girls leaving the surf lesson is great! it really does look like noone else is there- which a miracle in disney! The last time I was at typhoon lagoon was back in 2004! needless to say i need to go back! Crush and gusher sounds like fun! The kids enjoying the ride makes me even more confident that the coaster is fun!
It was one of my favorites from that trip! You would love the ride...even MM couldnt' get enough of it and I wasn't sure she would like it!

Boma looks great! Glad to see you all got along so well! That mickey cake looks AMAZING!!! Did Boma make it or did they get it shipped over from somewhere/ It really does look wonderful! That nighttime swim sounds like fun! I absolutely love swimming at night :)
The best! They are great people and we really enjoy their company! The kids loved swimming at night but unfortunately we didn't do a lot of it.

Great update, Queen. We've not done a water park since 2000, the last time both boys traveled with us. :sad2: And for the two of us it is kind of a waste of money just to lay in a chair or go down the lazy river. But we always enjoyed TL (better than BB).

Your dinner at Boma looks great, and how nice to share it with friends. Love MM's photo with her cake. :goodvibes

I couldn't agree more. I felt bad when Jasmine and I went alone and I am not a water park person per say...I like the lazy river and the lounge chair, the rides scare me:scared1: I love how happy the kids were to all be together and how the adults could just relax and do their own thing. Peg and Geodoc were beyond happy at how Jeff and Jasmien would help out with the kids!

It was a great evening!

Hey Queen!! Trying to catch up with my reports and I didn't realize you started a TR. That's how far behind I've been.

Here's my comments:

That seemed like one strange lady at the airport. I don't know if I would have had patience with her.

Congratulations on the upgrade. How wonderful.

The gift was so thoughtful.

The pool looks so refreshing and inviting. My dream Disney resorts are Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge. Maybe one day.

My favorite drink to have at Dw is the GG Slushie. Soooo good!! Have to have at least one each trip.

LeCellier looks good. We ate there on our very first trip and just never been back. The food was good.

We've also never been to Sci-Fi. Don't know if my girls would enjoy it. They don't like scary things.

The water park seems so relaxing. Maybe next trip we will try one out. By that time Madison will be a little older and may want to try different things. We brought her to a water park while on vacation at the beach, and she spent most of the day in the kiddie area.

I've been busy playing catch up lately too! Glad your here:hug:

That lady still makes me laugh, I think if we were on our way and I was sad, she would have irritated me beyond belief, but I was so darn happy that morning all I could do was laugh:lmao:

I hope you get the chance to stay there one day! The only reason we stay there is because Peg and Geodoc let u:lmao: Thank goodness they joined DVC and even more, that they purchased enough points for us to join them!

GGS is hands down the best drink on property! I had one everytime we were at Epcot on this trip!

MM turned 7 on the trip and having her older sister there and Jeff and Jasmine really helped her confidence! Jas and Jeff took turns going on the rides with the little ones, another reason they are wonderful kids. Most teenagers only want to spend time together, but they both spent the majority of their time with the little ones!

7 plates? That's incredible!

TL looks like so much fun, we'll try it when DD is older.

When on vacation, drinking at breakfast would be acceptable IMO :lmao: At least you got your money's worth with that drink! :rotfl:

He's a bottomless pit, I swear:lmao:

I told Jasmine drinking before noon is no different that having ice cream for breakfast when on vacation!:lmao: I guess the fact that I hardly ever have more than the occasional glass of wine at home was cause for concern for her:rotfl2:

I'm so glad everyone enjoyed TL but it sounds like you may have had the most fun

Your dinner and Dis meet sounds wonderful and that cake is adorable! :goodvibes

I think I did have the most fun...it was a fantastic day and night!

It sounds like you guys had a really good day at Typhoon Lagoon, the part about your great pina colada really made me laugh. And I totally don't blame you about not wanting to take your good camera, you just never know what might happen.

I Love the picture of MM with her cake, what a precious moment for her to get to celebrate while you guys were meeting up with friends, and I agree she does look like an angel

Looking forward to more:goodvibes

Awwwww:lovestruc

It was a great night. We were so impressed by how quickly Declan and Snow White seemed to hit it off. The meal was very good but the company so much better! Thanks for letting us participate in the birthday celebration and for the gift for Declan. So thoughtful. I think we are almost to this point in out TR. Just have to get "Mr Photographer" movin:lmao:

Typhoon Lagoon looks like so much fun!! I really wish we had some warmer weather !!
And that cake!! Awesome.... my mouth is watering for the chocolate!! :goodvibes

Debbie

I'm sure the next trip you take you will have better weather:thumbsup2 It was quite good!

Great update. I'm sorry to hear that the dessert party wasn't that great, but it sounds like you had a good enough time at TL to make up for it! For my fellow Winnipeggers, exciting news about the Jets game!

Thanks:goodvibes I was so excited ... I was at home watching the game on tv....don't ya love that they are back! Changed the whole atmosphere downtown!! It's fantastic!:thumbsup2

The food at Boma looks delicious! So glad you had a lovely Dis-meet dinner!
Whoooa does that pina colada sound strong! Hey-- you were on vacation! ;)

The food is delicious...breakfast is yummy too! I should have eaten a little more for breakfast that day or had lunch before my first cocktail of the day:lmao:

Hi!! A new reader & I'm hooked!! Great TR - isn't AKL just the best place ever?!?! :)

I'm glad you're all having a great time!!

- Katie

Hi Katie...so nice to have you along!!! AKL is the best place ever....I absolutely love it, makes me smile just thinking about it:lovestruc[/COLOR]

You made the right choice with TL over BB - I preferred that water park out of the two of them. Great pics from 2007!

Mmm Boma...such a beautiful restaurant. How did Jeff manage to put away 7 plates?!

Great birthday cake - it looks delish!

It's funny you say that...when we went in 2007 I preferred BB over TL but it was the opposite this time, I loved TL!

Love our days at the water park...it's a pool day but better:woohoo:

That boy ate more than all of us combined at some meals:rolleyes1 I just looked at something and gained weight...he lost weight:confused3

Whoo Hoo Queen got her drink on LOL!! I also lied Boma for dinner. That was a really cute cake!!

:lmao::lmao:I sure did! Glad you enjoyed Boma:thumbsup2

They were a pretty good group to hang out with. They even lived here on the east coast at one time so that means they are really good people. :lmao:

Why thank you! I think the best people come from the east coast;)

:cloud9:

Debbie, that was my problem too, I hardly drink when we're at home and then when I do have one of two they go straight to my head and my daughter calls me a lush:lmao:

Apparently the Photopass cd is in so I will get on Peg to get the TL pics up!

I wish you the best Thanksgiving and a relaxing enjoyable weekend:hug: Will be thinking of you while I'm at work!;)

It sounds like you guys had a really good day at Typhoon Lagoon, the part about your great pina colada really made me laugh. And I totally don't blame you about not wanting to take your good camera, you just never know what might happen.

Looking forward to more:goodvibes

I would absolutely add on the waterparks to my park tickets and every pool day we had scheduled, I would change to a waterpark day...we just loved it!

Thank you I think the girls are pretty special:cutie:

Awwwww:lovestruc

It was a great night. We were so impressed by how quickly Declan and Snow White seemed to hit it off. The meal was very good but the company so much better! Thanks for letting us participate in the birthday celebration and for the gift for Declan. So thoughtful. I think we are almost to this point in out TR. Just have to get "Mr Photographer" movin:lmao:

Have you guys got plans for August of 2013...pretty sure that's when we're going back:lmao:

They really did hit it off and when you guys said it was time to go it brought back our own childhood memories of having such a great time with friends and our parents just ruining our fun:rotfl2:

I hope Mr Photographer will get right on that! :rotfl2:

Typhoon Lagoon sounds like so much fun! We need to try it sometime. :goodvibes

:rotfl2:....your Pina Colada sounds like my Lapu Lapu that I had at 'Ohana. VERY STRONG!!! My DD laughed so much at me for being tipsy.
I never drink so it went straight to my head...:rotfl:
The CM even warned me but I insisted on trying it!

Glad the DISmeet turned out awesome for all of you. I think it's so cool that you have become such good friends. :thumbsup2

WOW! I love that cake! Too cute! :lovestruc

Ya know, I only follow three TRs... and they're all posting at the same time! :lmao: So if it takes me a bit before I comment, that's why! :)

Real life is taking over and I don't like it one bit!

Tell me about it!!! :sad2: Life should just be put in a corner with a time out so more important things (like replying to TR posts) can be taken care of.

Unfortunately, Geodoc is in San Francisco at a convention so he wasn't able to be there, but he was texting Peg so it was like he was there!

Oh, poor Geodoc. Having to go to a city that's on my bucket list. Really, I feel soooo bad for him. Being forced to see Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, cable cars, Chinatown.... oh, the horror. :rolleyes1

We choose Typhoon Lagoon, mostly because it has more of a laid back atmosphere than Blizzard Beach!

DD14 asked me a couple of days ago which water park we should go to (they haven't been to either). I'm going to put a poll up, but which would you pick for first timers? (I haven't been to BB yet, myself, so can't compare)

Now I also have a confession...I didn't take my camera with us that day!

Bad Queen! Bad! You know we all live vicariously through your words and pictures!

once the photopass cd arrives I know for sure there are pictures of them on there!

Okay, you're forgiven... as long as you put 'em up here!

By this time it was very close to 1130ish and Peg decided it was as good a time as any to have an adult beverage and who am I to argue:rolleyes1

Oh, absolutely. Don't want to upset the person fronting the DVC accommodations now do we? :rolleyes1

Well, it was hot and sunny and I was thirsty and I drank it way too fast....how fast you ask? Welllllll, the kids came back just as I was finishing mine and they wanted lunch. Jasmine pointed out that it wasn't quite noon which I replied it is somewhere ... like England!!! She then replied with "good god mother are you drunk" to which I had to reply "drunk is a very strong word, but if I had to get up right now and go buy my lunch I couldn't so you're going to have to go for me!" In all her almost 19 years my daughter has ever seen her mother unable to get up but she did that day....it was my one and only drink at TL:rolleyes1

:lmao: Was Jasmine shocked or amused?

207-2.jpg

This is my favorite buffet on property, I just love it. This is Jasmine's plate.

That plate makes me laugh. It's so like my DW's. She's a pretty fussy eater, so while I enjoyed Boma, she basically just had mac 'n cheese and zebra domes. Oh wait! Wait!

Zebra domes..... mmmmmm....

Zeeeeebbbbrrraaaa domes.....

<sigh>

Okay, I'm all right now.... no. Not quite. I want a zebra dome, stat. But I'll try to contain myself for now.

Now as you all know, MM's birthday was while we were there and Peg wanted to get her a special cake and she decided on this night to have it! She really wanted to make sure we could celebrate with our friends! I love this picture of my little MM she just looks like an angel!

Two things.
1. That cake looks amazing!
2. MM does look like an angel. But then again, that was the impression she left with me when I met her. :cutie:

Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Loving your updates. :)

The Boma meals looks amazing. Mmmm.

That makes me happy that you're enjoying our report! It was so good, I sure could go for that buffet right now:lmao:

I'm loving your report. All caught up now!!!

Thank you so much! I am thoroughly enjoying bringing it to you!:goodvibes

Too cute! :lovestruc

Oh that 'ol Lapu Lapu....same thing happened to me with that in 2007...you'd think I'd learn wouldn't you:rotfl2:

I cannot tell you how nice these people are:goodvibes

That cake was so delicious...again, I could go for some right now:rolleyes1
