JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

You crack me up... you are completely on your own sometimes in that house aren't you?

Yes, ma'am, I often am. But I try to look at the bright side of it. They're pretty easy to figure out. I just think of what would be the sensible thing to do and then I know exactly what they're gonna do -- the opposite. They, on the other hand, haven't figured out the mysteries of women. Nor have they noticed that every time they get close to figuring out our rules, we change the rules! Gotta keep 'em on their toes, you know.

I have a rule with my friends....don't knock, come right in....help yourself, I'm not here to look after you.....yup, that's about it for the rules in my house!

Oh, I do love your rules! Same as mine, generally. After you've been over to my house a time or two, you're no longer guest.

For her birthday celebration, she picked DHS! She does love RnRC, ToT and ST's...not to mention TSM! We got up at our usual time and had breakfast in the room before heading down to catch the bus!'

Now I am confused.... y'all terrorized the poor child about everything else but left her alone about ToT? Well, I guess mercy does still exist, huh?

Sounds like quite a fun morning! Great that you did ST! How different was it? Looks like it's 3D now, huh? That didn't help your tummy? Did it hinder?

Love the clear, sharp pics! And the colors are just beautiful!!!! You really have an eye for that kind of thing. Looks like everyone was having a great time!

Ha.. I have to admit that Rockin roller coaster is the one ride that I regret doing!!! lol Not really! I'm glad I did it but I didn't realize it went upsidedown!!

Here's the story!: We line up. I'm with DS and DD and so I'm the third wheel.
We are in line to get on and there is this young good looking guy that I'm going to sit with. I start to make a bit of small talk and he has no interest in the "older woman!" I say " this young man will protect me on the ride"! he just grunts!

When we are all buckled in I ask him if he's ridden before and he tells me that he has ridden about 4 or 5 times in the last couple days! At that moment, I realize I'm in trouble!!! What young guy lines up to ride the same ride numerous times if it's not a thrill ride?

Well here we go!!! The announcer makes the announcement to put your head back "just because" !!! and I knew I was in trouble!! You see , I don't do well with going upside down!! So what I did was focus... Yes.. I said
FOCUS!! and not close my eyes.... on the back of the seat in front of me!!
I was so afraid to close my eyes and lose my cookies!! lol

I spent the rest of the ride in that state!!! When it was over I told the kids that I didn't realize we went upside down when they announced to me (who planned our trip to the "t" ) that I guess I didn't prepare enough or I would have known the ride went upside down as we are walking under the exhibit of the car going upside down!!!!
Now, I'm glad I did the ride because I can say I did the ride, but will I do it again?..... Not sure about that!!!


One of our favorite restaurants was Sci Fi Diner!!! Loved it!!

I was in no hurry to get to Star Tours...the old version made me nauseous and I wasn't holding out much hope for the new one, but I was going to be a good sport and at least try!

Mini Montana was so excited to be riding the new version...she told me she would sit with me just in case I didn't feel well....guess she didn't quite get the "I could vomit on you but ok" look!

We would be having our lunch here a little later on...around noon to be exact!
SW and MM had never eaten here before so they were pretty excited about it!

Had to take our rugrats there too. Love it there.

Ok...I made it off...but not without constantly talking to myself the entire ride that I wasn't going to throw up, that I was going to be just fine, close my eyes...open them, nope, better keep them closed......Needless to say, I rode once...as did MM and Jasmine so we decided to have a much more calm ride outside!

But look on the bright side! You didn't puke on MM!

We headed to Writer's Stop to pass the time while the others went for another ride! What a great little place...a hidden gem IMO!

Okay... starting to hyperventilate now. O... M... G... Writer's Stop.... home of the carrot cake cookie. I'm going to need a minute here, hang on...

okay. now. I'm going to forgive you for not having one since you were feeling a little queasy.

Before we got in line, I asked her one last time if she was sure she was ready to ride for the first time and yup, she sure was....thumbs up!!! When I rode with SW for her first time in 2009 she was very nervous and a little weepy but not MM, she was good to go!!! She did awesome and couldn't wait to get right back on!!!

Way to go MM!

Now, I'm glad I did the ride because I can say I did the ride, but will I do it again?..... Not sure about that!!!

Your kids' response was sooooo wonderful! Sounds just like something my kids would say to me!!!

Now I do happen to love inversions in coasters. It's usually the first hill and the anticipation that drives me mad. But, of course, that doesn't happen on RnR.

Then again, I could put up with just about anything as long as Steven Tyler keeps crooning in my ear! Ahhhhhh....

What a great idea for each girl to pick a day to lead and celebrate!

I thought of you on our trip and wanted to share since I didn't include all pics in my TR...

I wasn't sure where your name came from, but apparently, you're well known in England...

It worked out really well, they each had a very special day all for them! I love that mug and wish I had seen it!! I would have bought it for sure!

I actually got my name from my staff at work believe it or not! The first branch I managed I had a lot of younger staff who were very new to banking so they thought I knew everything about everything....who was I to argue They found a mug for Christmas that first year that had "Queen of all Things" on it and they couldn't resist buying it for me!

Yay, you made it on Star Tours! I'm sorry that you have trouble with getting motion sickness on those kinds of rides. Simulators are generally known for that.

I'm glad that MM loved RnRC! She looked so excited in the pictures, but you're right, that wide eyed look could be complete fear.

Just thinking about it makes me want to hurl! She is a very laid back kinda kid, go with the flow, but I wasn't sure if she would actually go! She was so excited and calm all at the same time....I was so proud of her! I kept my hand on her leg the whole time just so she knew I hadn't fallen out or anything

Great update, Queen. My Andy could not ride Star Tours when we were there the week before last...like you, he gets a little sick on those types of rides. But you are a good Auntie to do it once.

So glad that MM was excited for Rock & Roll Roller Coaster (she is braver than me); I think Jas and Jeff's eyes were probably squinting because of the sun...we had that issue a lot on the trip.

Too bad we weren't there at the same time...Mr Andy and I could have hung out together!!The sun was so bright and strong I think that's exactly what was happening in that picture!

great update. We also did Star Tours this trip. I was also a little queasy. Hurray for MM doing Rock N Rollercoaster. Avery says it is her favorite. Cayley is still to short to ride. Looks like another fun day.

MM rode it right away again with Jasmine...she also got to buy a t-shirt from the ride....since when do t-shirts hit the $40 mark

Great update! Glad to hear that you tried SW. I was not looking forward to it but I gave it a whirl anyway. I always close my eyes when they do the light speed thing.

Kudos to you for trying ST, even though you had your suspicions that it would make you sick. I like that you had a chance to relax and enjoy the park while most everyone else rode it again. Those can be some of the best times of a vacation.
It's so sweet that MM wanted to ride RNRC for the first time with you; you must be a great ride buddy.
I'm looking forward to hearing if she liked it! That ride, in my opinion, is so nerve racking the first time around. I think having to watch all the cars before you take off builds the anticipation, so I'm anxious to see how MM did with that.
Plus, I can't wait to hear how Sci Fi went. That's my usual DHS lunch spot, but a lot of people don't seem to like it, so I'm curious to see what the overall opinion of the meal was.

I proved to be a great ride buddy in 2009 when MM was riding EE. I put my arm around her and held onto her for dear life...she loved the ride. Then when we went on BTMRR I hung onto her for dear life....then she rode with her daddy....she slipped under the bar because he wasn't holding onto her...I almost had a coronary Auntie's been the "first ride" person from then on!!!

She loved watching the cars take off before we got on...no fear at all!! Sci Fi review will be up by tomorrow

Y'all ever tried the outlet mall about 15-20 min east on I4? Can't remember the name of the mall but there's a Disney outlet store in there. I was in there one time and found a DCL shirt that was really cute. It was pink (okay.. so it was only mostly cute since pink just ain't me) and it simply had the DCL logo in like rhinestones or something on the front. And it was only $4!!!!

Whew!!! I was worried I may have totally misread how you would treat the poor child. I do hope she continues doing well in school and grows up and gets a great job because she's gonna need the $$ for the therapy sessions.

I finally had a chance to get all caught up again, and I hope you guys are having an awesome thanksgiving weekend.

I never got a chance to respond to your comment, but our trip was awesome, just unfortunately this is my last year of university and it's been a really busy and tough semester so no time to do a trip report. As such i don't really even have time to follow along on all the tr's I wanted to so I just picked a couple and of course your's was one of them.

That's so sweet how MM always picks you to ride with, you guys seem to have such a special relationship.

Im glad she was finally tall enough for rock n roller coaster, and I can't wait to hear what the girls and Jeff think of sci-fi

Hey girl! I'm so happy you're home safe and sound What was your favorite that they took off the menu?

The entree from Sci Fi that I loved and had been dreaming about since I had it in March was the Beef and Blue Salad. I asked the waitress if the kitchen would do it any way and she said "No, we don't even have lettuce anymore."
There are a couple of other salads on the menu so I'm sure they have lettuce. Not to mention I had lettuce on my burger. I was a little peeved about being lied to. I mean just tell me the kitchen won't do it and that's fine, I used to wait tables and I know how cooks can be, but to say "we have no lettuce" was ridiculous. Sorry about my little rant. It was just such a disappointment. I don't think I'll eat there again unless they were to bring it back. Keeping my fingers crossed.
