Resort Thread Jambo! Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

I would ask when you book the rental, so that the service can communicate your request to the owner when they communicate the rest of your booking information and the owner can take care of everything at the same time. They want to minimize the number of times they have to contact the owner.
I'm sure that's the case, but if that's their objective, they should be asking the renter for that information up front. In my case, they tried to claim it wasn't possible to put requests in with DVC. Having been owners previously, we knew that was BS, which is why we argued. Had I known I wanted to put in a request at the 11 month mark, I would have. I didn't. Medical condition changed. Life happens. It's their policy and that's fine, but people need to know. Because of this, I just choose to rent elsewhere where flexibility in matters like this are not dismissed out of hand.

I’m sorry they were so rigid and wouldn’t even try to ask the owner. I know they’re trying to protect the owner, which is why I suggested to the potential renter that they submit their request at the time of booking.

We will be staying at Jambo in a few months and I'm just wondering if it is standard operating procedure now for resort guests to use mobile ordering for Mara? I know it's sort of the normal now for the parks, but I haven't heard much about the resort quick service places. In the past of course, we just woke up and made our way to Mara for breakfast and ordered there. Can you still do that or is it expected that you should mobile order before leaving your room? We would probably mostly be eating breakfast there, but maybe an occasional lunch or dinner as well.

Mara is set up a little differently now to accommodate mobile order, and mobile order is definitely more efficient and their preferred way to order. You you can still order in person, but you just order at the register and can't walk over to the kitchen areas to order anymore (those are blocked off by mobile order tables now). Mobile order is so much easier for both guests and CMs, I'd recommend sticking to that!

Hello all, heading to Kidani early April and something that has been bothering me is figuring out what to do in terms of the bathing suit issue walking to Jambo from Kidani. What are other people doing? Are you changing in the bathroom near Uzima Springs pool or wearing coverups for the walk? After our swim, would we look like fools wearing our bathrobes back to Kidani? Thanks for the responses!!

We just got back last week, and can say we saw many families walking back and forth wearing swim coverups and/or bathrobes. It is not awkward at all!

Thank you so much! It may be silly but this has been worrying me. Glad to know we won’t be the only ones walking through the lobby with robes.

So excited to be staying here for a long weekend soon. I've looked over the last ~dozen pages and didn't see any reference. Is the evening viewing with night vision goggles still offered? Thrilled to hear the wood carvers are back. Have a reservation at Jiko one night. Will probably try to do Sanaa lounge or mobile order another night. We know about zebra domes but any other treats (savory, sweet, or alcoholic) that we should be sure to check out? Any resort activities (adult trip this time) we shouldn't miss? We'll be thrilled "just" with hanging out in the lobby, on our balcony, in Victoria Falls, Jiko, and Sanaa but figured I'd check for any other insights/recommendations. Thanks!

View from ostrich trail . Room 3110. Right off the lobby

So looking at the Uzima Springs pool bar, I see that they don’t have any food on their menu (we’ve never been before, so I’m assuming they used to offer food but don’t know that for certain). Are we able to mobile order food from The Mara and bring it into the pool area? Or is it a no-food-allowed situation?

Has anyone in 2022 taken MEARS from MCO Airport to AKL? If so what stop were you for the drop-off? I've seen a few AKL mentions where MEARS dropped them off last. I know it's supposed to be "random," but just checking to see how other experiences have been so far.

I'm wondering the same. I plan to take Mears Connect from MCO to AKL at the end of the month and can report back. I found this You Tube video from February where the bus had two stops--Coronado and AKL and AKL was second. But from other accounts I've heard, two stops seems lucky as many others have reported the bus stops at several hotels.

We used it last month and AKL was one of the last stops. Only All Stars were after. Our flight was delayed and we didn't get in until 1 am, so this could have affected it. It stopped at an off property resort (don't remember which, I wasn't familiar with it), Swan Reserve, YC, BC, CSR, Pop, AoA (there may have been one more? It was late, I was tired) AK Kidani, AK Jambo, then All Stars

That's a lot of stops!

Years ago (before Magical Express) I took a Mears Shuttle and I felt motion sick because I was on it so long. I swore I would never do a shuttle bus again. But it didn't have nearly as many stops as your trip.

It was pretty bad. On the way back to the airport, they sent a van and it was just my family with no stops, so definitely a YMMV situation

Wow, this is what I’m afraid of. Usually I’d take Uber, but this is a solo trip, so I’d save some money by taking Mears Connect.
