Jamaica with kids?

We stayed at Riu Negril 2 years ago with 8 kids ages 6-12 and we enjoyed it. Right on beach, nice pool, lame evening entertainment but beautiful resort. Negril beaches are incredible!

We have been to Jamaica twice with kids and are going back for spring break this year. My kids are teens, but when we were last there 3 years ago we did warn them about the people offering drugs, etc.....we only went off resort with a private driver. He took us to Dunns River falls, Mystic mountain and then fern gully & to a sugar can field to taste some fresh cane.

This was our only off property tour. We were only there 6 days and spent most of the time at the resort. My son (about 13 at the time) was offered ganja, but not my daughters (10 & 15).

where did you stay?

Went to Beaches. A little pricey but worth it IMO. When they say all inclusive they really mean it. It was a great vacation. Check out their website.

We stayed once at Beaches and once Starfish (now Breezes) Trelawny. That was a budget friendly resort, but great fun for the kids. We are a family of 5 and needed two rooms. They have waterslides, trapeze, in pool - pooltable. It was an hour from the airport and halfway between Ocho rios and Montego Bay. We wanted to try Negril this time, so we are trying something new.

We have been twice in the past few years both with a few kids of varying ages. While Riu Ocho Rios was nice, Beaches Negril offered a lot more for everyone. I liked both Negril and the Beaches resort better but you can't complain too much either way when your in a tropical paradise.

We took my DS to Jamaica when he was 2, and he really liked it. We are going back this May with our sons who will be 2 and 5. I would not recommend our resort from 3 years ago (The Lady Hamilton in St. Luce?) but have heard great things from both my sisters about the Riu Negril that we'll be staying at!

We love all-inclusives however the relaxation factor has changed since we now have kids :rotfl:
