Jamaica actively pursuing Disney Cruise Line

Just went on the Discover Atlantis tour. I don't think we would do it again--we felt that the amount of walking required on the tour was far greater than the tour description led us to believe. In the extreme heat and humidity, it can become quite unpleasant.

As for Nassau in general--recently there has been a lot of investment in improving the infrastructure (we drove around with a friend who lives outside Nassau and were very impressed), so the island is really starting to boom. We are hopeful that the crime rate should go down, as a result of more jobs becoming available.

I'm looking forward to my first stop in Jamaica next month on another cruise line.

I have a hard time seeing Disney going here unless it's an itinerary for the Magic (unless contracts are coming due with St. Thomas, St. Maarten, or more likely Cozumel or Grand Cayman on the western swing).

But, it's never a bad thing to take the meetings and see what a port may throw at you.

my assistant just went to Jamaica for her honeymoon and stayed at an all-inclusive resort...when they wanted to go play tennis they had to be escorted by two armed guards across the street to the resorts tennis facility. The whole hotel was surrounded by walls that had barbed wire on it. Every single person they talked to outside of the hotel treated them like garbage and made no point in hiding that they hated Americans...this doesn't exactly sound like the place DCL should be heading.....

We had a great time in Jamaica!

It was a beautiful island and the people quite friendly. Granted, we were in Montego Bay where most of the cruising happens in Falmouth or Ocho Rios, but our experience was quite plesant and we'd be happy to go back again..

I'm intrigued to see DCL offer something new.
