Jaime's Flower Power Trip! NEW 7/05 CH. 62: The "Really" End **COMPLETED**

I have no idea how I missed your TR! I had MUCH catching up to do! (Took me a good part of 2 nights at work!)

We have something in common in having sisters that are quite a bit older than we are! My oldest one is almost 20 years older than me.

I noticed from the countdown in your signature that you'll be in Branson soon- I work there, so if you need a cheap place to stay or anything else, let me know!

It must have been scary having to have surgery so soon before your trip! I *always* seem to get sick a few weeks before my trip. If I had a dollar for every time I've been in a doctor's office saying something along the lines of "I CANT be sick, I go to Disney in 19 days!!"...

I feel ya on the hunger from steroids, too! I just had to be on them for my ears, and I ate everything that stood still long enough!

And hey! You have the same mini Capt Jack that we do!

The Land CMs with the Jungle Drums were hilarious! They should do that for all of the big ticket morning rushes- maybe "Chariots of Fire" for the dash to Space Mtn ;)

I feel ya on the 45 minute bus ride to BCV! I can NOT figure out why all 5 Epcot resorts have to share ONE AK bus! SILLY!

WOW that's a lot of shoes! I always feel like I'm overpacking when I bring both my Beach AND Athens Crocs- you just made me feel way better!

I LOVE the pic of Jack over the AKL fire! Hilarious!

Your KTTK tour sounds a little different from when I went- we rode HM but not JC- I may have to take it again someday to learn more! (And re-remember what I've forgotten!)

She rattled off the stats for what the "Disney Look" is – earrings cannot be bigger than – oh, nuts, was is a dime or a quarter?

Uh oh! Joe Rohde's gonna be in trouble with the earring police! :lmao:

Now that I'm all caught up, you must write more! :)

Ohhhh!!! I can't wait to hear about LeCellier! We gave up (yes, GAVE UP) an ADR for LeCellier the day before we were supposed to go there -- one boy with Influenza B and the other saying "ewwwww, MEAT again? -- we had just eaten at the O'hana dinner the night before. We ended up using the TS for the Beach Club Goofy character breakfast a couple of days later.

I recall reading so much about LeCellier -- esp the cheese soup and the steaks. I was bummed to miss out, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes. I hope you loved it! Can't wait to hear the food report!

Lisa -

We end up doing LeCellier every trip! But I can totally understand the "Ewwwwww... meat again!" comment! Sometimes it seems like all the sit-downs only serve steak.

Update on LeCellier - with pictures starts tonight!

Love the details about the Keys to the Kingdom tour! I was LOL about Ruth and the microphone!:rotfl: I never knew of the engagement "looking ring" at the Haunted Mansion will definitely be looking for that next time! I can totally sympathize with you and your injured foot! I was having terrible problems with my knee/leg while we were their although I unfortunately did not have strong pain meds with me!:lmao: Great installments!:thumbsup2

dddisrunner - :wave2:

I just hope I can find the ring again to get a picture. The HM will be reopening while we're there in September. It reopens on the 13th and we will be i the MK on the 14th. I can't wait to see it (but I'm not looking forward to a big line, either!)

I have no idea how I missed your TR! I had MUCH catching up to do! (Took me a good part of 2 nights at work!)

Crystal - :welcome:

Always glad to give people something to do during work!

We have something in common in having sisters that are quite a bit older than we are! My oldest one is almost 20 years older than me.

And Rhonda's actually the closest in age to me. Mia is 26 years older, Judi is 22 years older, Rhonda is 19 years older, and Bill is 11 years older.

I noticed from the countdown in your signature that you'll be in Branson soon- I work there, so if you need a cheap place to stay or anything else, let me know!

Thanks, that's so nice of you to offer! We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express for the night and seeing Paul Revere and the Raiders at the Dick Clark AB Theater.

It must have been scary having to have surgery so soon before your trip! I *always* seem to get sick a few weeks before my trip. If I had a dollar for every time I've been in a doctor's office saying something along the lines of "I CANT be sick, I go to Disney in 19 days!!"...

:lmao: And I always end up on the phone - "You gotta give me something!!! I'm geting on a plaaaannnnneeeeeeeeeeeeee.........!!!!!!!!!!"

And hey! You have the same mini Capt Jack that we do!

He makes a great travel companion!

The Land CMs with the Jungle Drums were hilarious! They should do that for all of the big ticket morning rushes- maybe "Chariots of Fire" for the dash to Space Mtn ;)

:rotfl2: That would be really funny!!!

Uh oh! Joe Rohde's gonna be in trouble with the earring police! :lmao:

:happytv: :happytv: :happytv: That's hysterical!!!

sorry you missed Petula Clark:hippie: . godd idea, taking a cab to the "back door" of epcot!
Love the KTTK review!

As this is going on, I’m looking at his name tag. He’s from Lowell, MA. His name is Gary.

OMGOSH I'm from Lowell, MA!! I need to make a trip to the Kona and read Kay7979's trippie!

Enjoying your TR :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Great report just got up to the beginning of your trip I thought I would subscribe while I was reading!! looking fwd to reading it all:thumbsup2

Rhonda has a tattoo – as do I. Rhonda’s is a Mickey Mouse… in fact, someone earlier in the trip asked where she had it done, something about infringement rights in Florida? I guess they can’t tattoo Mickey in that area (I mean Florida, not the area of Rhonda’s leg!) [/SIZE]

Turned out, depending on the costume you need to wear, a tattoo can be covered several ways. Shouldn’t be a problem for Rhonda to get hired.

I'm still here and still reading avidly!! I will have two full tattoo sleeves by the time I get to Disney. Hopefully they will hire me as a graphic artist and it won't be an issue as I'll be hid away in Cinderella's tower madly scribbling away on ride logos and special event flyers! Anyway I plan to have a pretty big Mickey and Minnie tattoo on my lower back so I'll have to remember to keep that a secret! :ssst:

CHAPTER 52: Mo, What’s this Brown Stuff?– Still DAY 7: FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2007

We check-in at 7:30 at LeCellier and are seated rather quickly at a table in the back, next to the bathrooms. I can never remember which province I’m in - like nebo, I can barely see in this dark restaurant for a while! :scared:

Our waiter is a very nice man named Mo. Appetizers were: Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup for Ruth;

34%3A583754%7Ffp68%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9866ot1lsi

Mixed Field Greens - crumbled blue cheese, pecan-shallot vinaigrette for me,

34%3A583754%7Ffp66%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9868ot1lsi

Shrimp Cocktail - wasabi slaw and horseradish chili sauce for Rhonda,

34%3A583754%7Ffp66%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9589ot1lsi

and there’s no picture of Sandy’s – which means it was the salad or the soup!

On my salad were little brown dried crinkly things… we couldn’t figure out what they were. I thought dried parsnips? Sandy kept saying tarragon. Literally. Tarragon. Tarragon. Tarragon. So, I call Mo over and ask. Well, that was a blank look!

He goes back to ask the chef. Cool. He comes right back out and announces, "Fried Sweet Potato." I taste it again… oh, duh! Yup. Absolutely. How could I not be able to tell that???

For the main course, Ruth and Sandy went with the 7 oz. Filet Mignon - glazed with maple barbecue sauce and accompanied by cream cheese mashed potatoes;

34%3A583754%7Ffp65%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B95%3A2ot1lsi

Rhonda had the Herb Crusted Prime Rib - roasted Yukon potatoes, finished with a veal demi glace; (BUT SHE SUBSTITUTED THE YUKON POTATOES WITH THE GARLIC MASHED TYPE!

34%3A583754%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9597ot1lsi

34%3A583754%7Ffp64%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9875ot1lsi

and I finally decided to try the Seared King Salmon - served over sweet maple corn cake, with candied walnuts and Maple-Ginger Glaze.

Oh, that was so good!!! The walnuts and the salmon together were amazing!!!

34%3A583754%7Ffp6%3C%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9872ot1lsi

Yum! Making me hungry! Looks like food DH and I would have liked, but not the boys.... probably good we cancelled the ADR.

BTW, I thought of you today..... I am helping with pricing for our upcoming church rummage sale (oh, joy of all joys!) and 2 of the little Pirate Jack dudes were in amongst a huge menagerie of fast food toys. Just thought you'd like to know that. (there would be a smilie here if I knew how to do that).

Off to make dinner .... hmmmm, cheese soup looks good .... nah, not in 95 degree weather!

Rae told us tons and tons of facts… even got into the training for new cast members – she used to have that job. She rattled off the stats for what the "Disney Look" is – earrings cannot be bigger than – oh, nuts, was is a dime or a quarter? Men are now allowed mustaches, but they must be kept trimmed. Tattoos must be covered.

I worked at Epcot in college for about four months, and I was ALWAYS getting in trouble for my socks! They were supposed to be white with black shoes or black with white shoes ONLY (I had to buy black & white shoes and socks to work there, i didn't have any to begin with!). i would forget all the time and show up wearing sparkly red socks or purple stripes. i would get reprimanded, but no one cared enough to make me change!

i am reminded of a great "disney look" story - a friend there showed up on his first day of training with long hair, down to his shoulders. his new boss took one look at him and said he would have to get a haircut and come back for training - and she wasn't going to have time to train him until the following week. rather than lose nearly a week's worth of pay, he ran to the nearest shop, borrowed a pair of scissors from the cashier, and chopped his hair off right there in the store!

OK, now i'll hush up and start on chapter 52! :surfweb:

OMG...the soup and the filet look absolutely amazing. I am definitely going to put this place at the top of my list for places to eat (ya know, cause there's only abut 50 of them...LOL)!!

:goodvibes

Oh yummo! I thought I was "over" the no LeCellier for our Sept trip, but after those pics I gotta keep calling!

Yeah, I made myself hungry with those pictures!

Wow! I wish I had an extra Jack - I'm always afraid I'll lose him somewhere (especialy when he rides the coasters with his hands up!)

Actually, I'd love to see the tattoos! And is moving there a definate? Is there a time-line to your master plan to work for Disney?

Even if you weren't from Lowell, I'd still recommend Kay's report! She's a fantastic writer - I know I got better at this just from reading Kay's report.

sorry you missed Petula Clark:hippie: . godd idea, taking a cab to the "back door" of epcot!
Love the KTTK review!

Diane -
Thanks!

Actually, I took the cab so I could nap longer... :upsidedow

Now could you get Steve to stop talking about the BAD PLACE in his report and get to the HAPPY PLACE??? :lmao:

We all need to know - WHAT WAS THE REST OF THE COSTUME???

LeCellier makes our list every trip... EVERY TRIP!!! And I haven't eaten the same meal there in the last 4 trips!

Don't quit the CP until you find out for sure about the socks and shoes issue! :lmao:

Oh yummo! I thought I was "over" the no LeCellier for our Sept trip, but after those pics I gotta keep calling!

Thanks:thumbsup2

This could be your reason for another trip, you know! :rotfl:

Hey there! I'm just on a quick break to pick up my son from daycamp -- and then back to the rummage pricing. Hoping to take tomorrow off before setting up on Thursday. The sale starts Friday. You would not believe how much stuff there is. A doll collector lady from the church brought in dozens of boxed Barbies and babydolls today. Fun -- but it is getting to be a bit much.

I'll grab the Jacks (being one of the coordinators has its benefits!) and we can communicate later. I'd be happy to send them to you. I haven't figured out how to PM -- can't be too difficult, can it? TTFN!

Hey Jamie
I have no idea if I'm doing this right, I found your last TR from earstoears, and joined here just to say I love all of your reports, wish I had your recall and humor ! Also wanted to give you this bit of information, I was an EPCOT castmember and there are utilidors under Future World, the access road runs around most of Future World and all of World Showcase. The entrance I used most often was behind Gateway Gift Shop.
Can't wait for the rest of the story.
Lynn

CHAPTER 53: What Would Mo Do? – Still DAY 7: FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2007

Now it’s time for dessert.

New item on the menu! Cherry Shortcake - cherry-almond cake topped with house made lavender ice cream and almond brittle – wow!!! That sounds good! But I’m really torn! I have never eaten here and not gotten maple crème brule – even when we ordered 3 and they only had 2, I called "Dibs!" and got one… :rolleyes1

What to do?!?!? What to do?!?!?!

So I do what any normal person would do in this situation:

"MO!!!!!!"

I explain my dilemma and ask, "What Would Mo Do?" :confused3

Mo tells me the cherry-almond cake is really good.

Mo says it’s good - I’m going with Mo! :thumbsup2

While we’re waiting for dessert, I spot a dessert at the next table I’ve never seen… is it the now-fabled cherry-almond cake? I snap a picture of someone else’s dessert.

34%3A5%3B32%3B7%7Ffp69%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B95%3A8ot1lsi

Then I flag Mo down on his way by, show him the picture, and ask, "Is this the cherry thing or is it the sorbet?"

Mo looks confused. I explain. It’s a picture of that guy’s dessert – pointing over at the unsuspecting man. Mo cracks up. :lmao:

He says in 19 years of waiting tables, no one has ever shown him a picture of someone else’s food! And, yes, it’s the sorbet.

Rhonda tried my dessert when it came and she did not care for it. I on the other hand ADORED IT!!!

34%3A5%3B32%3B7%7Ffp65%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9878ot1lsi

That’s when I looked over at Sandy’s empty crème brule dish and realized it was a single container – the crème brule sampler of ½ vanilla bean and ½ maple has a dividing line down the middle. This dish did not. Neither did Rhonda’s dish. Huh. Well, what flavor was it?

34%3A5%3B32%3B7%7Ffp68%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B95%3B4ot1lsi

Neither of them knows. Time for Mo again! Turns out, they were out of the maple crème brule and only had vanilla bean left! Rhonda and Sandy didn’t even notice!

I’m so glad I did what Mo would do and went with the cherry-almond cake!

Ruth went with the chocolate "Moose".

34%3A5%3B32%3B7%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A77%3B9876ot1lsi
