Jaclyn & Chris’ Engagement Trip Report ~ Updated 01/03

Congratulations to you both on your engagement! Can't wait to read more of your TR!

I would have loved to get married at DisneyWorld but my dh was nice enough to agree to our honeymoon there!

We turned left and headed to Adventureland!

Our first ride was Pirates of the Caribbean. We were able to walk right on. I love travelling in value season!

Picture136.jpg

After Pirates we headed to Frontierland to ride my favorite ride in all WDW, Splash Mountain! :cheer2:
Picture137.jpg

Picture138.jpg

When we got off Splash Mountain I noticed that they were selling Reef Flip Flops in the Splash Mountain gift shop. I had read such great things about these flip flops in NikkiLovesWDW! honeymoon trip report. I really wanted to buy a pair, unfortunately, they didn’t have my size. :sad2:

I was starting to get a little hungry so Chris and I decided to go back to Adventureland so I could get my first Dole Whip Float of the trip.
Picture140.jpg

After finishing my Dole Whip Float I was still sad that the Splash Mountain gift shop didn’t have any flip flops in my size. Chris suggested that we check out the Emporium to see if they sold any Reef Flip Flops. Nope…no luck finding them at the Emporium. Chris thought they might have them at Blizzard Beach. An idea popped into my head. What about the gift shop in Adventureland? So we decided to check it out.

We headed to the Adventureland Island Supply gift shop. Lo and behold they had the flip flops I wanted in my size. I tried them on and bought my first pair of Reef Flip Flops. :woohoo:

After making my purchase we decided to head over to Liberty Square so we could ride the Haunted Mansion.

Picture018-2.jpg

After we were done riding the Haunted Mansion we sat down at a bench and I put on my new flips flops. But guess what? After all that time searching for these flip flops in my size, the flip flops I bought didn’t fit. I couldn’t figure it out. I had tried on these flip flops, they fit then, and then now they didn’t. I was so annoyed with myself. I guess I put the wrong pair back on the shelf when I was trying them on.

So Chris and I trekked back to Adventureland and we exchanged the flips flops for the right pair. I wanted to put them on right away because the new running shoes I had bought before the trip were beginning to hurt. We sat down at the seating area between the gift shop and Aloha Isle and I put on my new shoes.

The Illusive Flip Flops.

These flip flops were definitely worth hunting down. They really kept my feet comfortable during the entire trip.

After I put on my new flip flops we got up to head to our lunch ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. Chris kept teasing me about how I had gotten the wrong flip flops. I was getting really annoyed at this point and turned to him and said “You’re really starting to piss me off!” The second I said this, a woman who was sitting at a table in the Adventureland area said to us “Congratulations.” I turned and smiled and said in the sweetest voice possible “Thank You.” :rotfl2:

We thought this was so funny. We had just gotten engaged a few hours ago and already we were bickering like an old married couple. It was just so typically us.

We walked over to Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch.
Picture136-1.jpg

We were seated at a table for two in the Jean Paul Room. Every time we eat at Liberty Tree Tavern we’re seated at the same table by the window facing the Liberty Bell. We now refer to it as our table. :lmao:

I had the Colony Salad and a coke.
Picture146.jpg

Chris ordered the Angus Chuck Burger and a sprite.
Picture145.jpg

For dessert we were given a complimentary chocolate cake to celebrate our engagement.

After lunch we browsed some of the gifts shops on Main Street and then headed back to Corondo Springs Resort for a relaxing afternoon.

It's good practice to argue once in awhile during the engagement so you'll be a pro by t he time you are married. Just remember who is the boss! :lmao:

I'm in - great start so far! Congrats on the engagement! Wonderful pictures ~ can't wait for more!

I'm all caught up now! Wow! What a perfect way to start a day at Disney. Breakfast at Kona followed by a proposal on the Poly beach!:cloud9:
Beautiful ring by the way. Have fun planning the wedding!

Were you on the dining plan or out-of-pocket? How were your meals at R&C, Kona, & LTT?

What a great TR so far!

I am very lucky that my DF agreed to a WDW wedding. He loves Disney as much as I do, well almost as much. :lmao:

After 6 years together he knows whose boss! :rotfl:

Glad you finally found your flip flops! Your salad at LTT looked really good!

Thanks.

My salad was really good! :thumbsup2

subscribing. I have the same reef flip flops and I love them!!!

Aren’t they amazing? They are much better than the Old Navy Flip Flops I usually wear.

I'm in - great start so far! Congrats on the engagement! Wonderful pictures ~ can't wait for more!

Congratulations! Love your flip flops.

Congrats on the flip flops and oh the ring too

Thank you!

I'm looking forward to all the wedding planning! Of course, if I wasn't planning on getting married in Disney I think I would be dreading it! :lmao:

We paid OOP for our meals using our Tables in Wonderland (TIW) card. With our AP discount on accommodations and our TIW it ended up working out cheaper than free dining for us.

Our meals were really good! If you want a more detailed report feel free to check out my dining review. :goodvibes

What a great TR so far!

I'm definitely the type of person who likes to take pictures of everything, especially when I'm in Disney. :thumbsup2

Congratulations! I loved your engagement story, very romantic. :lovestruc

The new rooms at CSR are so nice, I never wanted to stay there in previous years as I hated the old decor but now it is on my list of approve resorts. ;)

We always fly from the States as well, Canadian airfare is horrendous!

Looking forward to reading more! :thumbsup2

Joining in to hear all about the fun. Congratulations on your engagement; the ring is GORGEOUS! I am a flip flop nut and I've never heard of those... going to have to check those out!

Totally jealous of your 2 weeks in WDW. Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Thanks for reading!

The reefs flip flops were perfect! I actually ended up buying another pair when I went to Blizzard Beach later on during the trip.

After our great morning at the Magic Kingdom we headed back to Corondo Springs Resort to have an afternoon nap and to call our parents and let them know we got engaged.

We then got ready for our dinner at the California Grill. :woohoo:

We took a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the monorail over the Contemporary. We got there a little early so we thought we go check out Bay Lake Tower.

This is Chris’ “I want it!” picture. We both want to stay here one day!
Picture035-1.jpg

After checking out Bay Lake Tower we browsed the gifts shops. It was then time to check in for our 7:45pm ADR time at California Grill.

Waiting for our buzzer to go off.
Picture037.jpg

Picture040.jpg

We were seated at 7:55pm, 5 minutes before Wishes was scheduled to begin. Initially when I made this ADR Wishes was scheduled for 9pm that night. When I realized it changed to 8pm it was too late for me to change my ADR time. So I was very happy that we were seated before 8pm and we also had a decent view for Wishes. It wasn't a window table but we still had a great view. I didn’t take any pictures of Wishes that night. Chris and I wanted to just sit and enjoy the moment.

Our table was decorated to celebrate our engagement.
Picture043-1.jpg

Our waiter was very excited to hear that we got engaged today at the Poly and throughout our meal we had a couple servers and the manager come out to congratulate us. :goodvibes

To start I ordered a California Roll.
Picture052.jpg

Chris ordered the BBQ Chicken Flatbread.
Picture049.jpg

While we were waiting for our entrees Chris made this for me.
Picture050.jpg

We both ordered the Oak-Fired Filet of Beef.
Picture051.jpg

For dessert we shared the Valrhona Chocolate Cake with Salted Caramel Ice Cream.
Picture053.jpg

At the end of meal our waiter came over to the table and said “And dinner is done.” Chris and I both replied “Yes.” The waiter then followed up with “And paid for.” Chris and I were both so confused we thought the California Grill was possibly covering our bill as a way to say congratulations so we both looked at the waiter stunned and said “thank you?” The waiter than said that my father had called and was paying for our engagement dinner. I was in shock! This was totally unexpected and completely out of the ordinary for my parents. I had told them we were eating at the California Grill tonight when I had called to let them know Chris and I had got engaged. After I had hung up with my parents then spent over an hour on the phone trying to get a hold of the California Grill. I was very emotional after I found out they had paid for our engagement dinner. It was just such a sweet thing for them to do. :cloud9:

After dinner we decided to go to the Magic Kingdom because they had extra magic hours that night.

Picture055.jpg

We also got some photopass pictures taken in front of the castle.
Image0084.jpg

Our next stop was the TTA! This was the main reason we went to the Magic Kingdom tonight. During our last trip the TTA was still closed down. It was really neat to get to see inside Space Mountain with the lights on. There was even a door with “Wedway Storage” sign. I thought it was funny that even Disney still refers to the TTA as the Wedway People Mover. It not just us DISers. :lmao:

After our ride on the TTA we just wondered through the gift shops on Main Street and we ended up hearing the good night kiss on our way out.

We took the bus back to CSR and were in bed by 1am.

Today was a magical day that I will never forget.:cloud9:
