15th July

The kids really struggled to get up this morning but I hauled them out of their bed and we were on our way to Universal Studios by 8.15am. It was going to be another hot day !!!!

We arrived at Universal car park in good time and as we walked the million walkways which are great on the way to the parks but feel 10 times longer on the way back I noticed something – people!!!!!!!! And lots of them. More of them were heading to IOA so thought we would be ok. We had not been to Universal since before the kids were born but thought they were now at an age where there was something there they would enjoy!!

First we all agreed we had to head to The Simpsons ride.

DS was so excited and loved the theming – he is my real life Bart!!!!

Anyway the line was only 10 minutes and we joined it. I noticed that DD was very quiet and as we were waiting to get into a holding room she looked deathly pale and was shaking. She then announced she didn’t feel well. Being the good mother I am I asked if she could wait till after the ride (just joking) anyway granny volunteered very quickly to take her outside and by the time we were out of the ride DD was feeling much better – I think maybe nerves had got the better of her!!

The ride – what can I say, it was fantastic. DS loved it and although I felt it quite rough he chuckled all the way through.

DS wanted to ride again but the queue was up to 50 minutes at 9.30am. We then headed over to ET which I knew the kids would love and got a surprise at the end when ET knew their names. DD loved this so much she wanted to ride again and it seemed quiet so we went on again whilst DH and DS went to a playground they had spotted and we agreed to meet in 20 minutes. By the time we had came out of ET for a second time the queue for it has risen quiet considerably !! DS and DD played for a while and would not move from the park and then everyone started grumbling they were too hot and hungry so they decided on an early lunch.

After we had eaten and energy was restored DS decided he wanted to head to Jimmy Neutron but we were faced with an 80 min wait,Shrek was 90 mins and the other rides were worse. There was no way the kids wanted to wait in line so they had a bit of a meltdown. I was so disappointed but they didn’t want to stay so we decided to leave.

The kids had asked constantly to go to Fun Spot on International Drive which is go carts and a fun fair so DH suggested he takes the kids there and drops me and Granny at the Prime Outlets. You don’t have to ask me twice – so duly dropped off for 2 hours we wandered about and I bought a couple of tops out of Calvin Klein and a Michael Kors handbag. I bought some Bath and Bodyworks bits and it didn’t take long before our 2 hours were up!!! Just in time as the sky was getting black.

The kids really enjoyed Fun spot with water bumper boats and all the usual carnival rides as well as go carts but DH found the price a bit steep and they would not take travellers cheques.

We were all hungry now so decided to stop at the first place we saw – which was The Golden Coral. It was a massive hit with everyone. Clean, great food and great value for $$$$$$. It is an all you can eat buffet and they food was extremely fresh. DD took a liking to their Salmon and DH and John were impressed with the steaks that were cooked for you. The deserts were yummy as well. It was actually good to eat lots of real food – meat, veg, fish etc!!!!

By the time we were out of there it was pouring rain. We dropped everyone at the villa for an early night and DH and I went off to the Prime Outlets as he wanted some shopping in peace. He bought himself some Oakley sunglasses, jeans, trainers, Tommy Hilfiger polo shirts and looked for some golfing gear. We tried to dodge the rain and we were home by 10 with everyone in bed. We had a drink then off to bed

I can't wait to do the Simpsons ride.....shame your DD missed out.

Fun spot sounds good. :thumbsup2

I'm hoping my lot are up for the Simpsons ride :thumbsup2

Another great day Jackie. Shame about the lines at Universal :goodvibes

another excellent Day,glad you got to ride the simpsons, shame it got so busy:goodvibes

Lovely day again, shame you didn't get to do much at Universal. We love the two Universal parks the best. That day we were at Animal Kingdom in the blistering no cover heat.

What a perfect end to the day - shopping and then a drink without ay children in tow!

Lovely day-we can't wait for the Simpsons ride :thumbsup2 .What happened when your son pushed that button-does it do anything?.We always stay on I-Drive and have never visited Fun Spot for the reason that it is so very expensive.Oh how we love Golden Coral-as much prime rib as you can eat+ cooked the way you want-i love there mash+gravy too,and them desserts-where do you start :worship: .Golden Coral's breakfast buffet is fantastic too,we always like to pay the extra and go there instead of the likes of the Ponderosa/Sizzler.x.

I can't help being slightly bitter about the Simpsons ride *** I loved BTTF but I *suppose* i'll go on it next time  Sounds like your DS enjoyed it and I always get a kick out of ET saying the names at the end of the ride :)

Glad you liked the Simpson's ride, I'm really looking forward to going on it in a couple of weeks :thumbsup2

Another great day, shame about the queues though.

looking forward to the Simpson ride when we eventually go back. shame it was so hot and busy
