Jack Frost Nipped at Our Noses But Not Our Spirits! Day 6 - Tonga Toast & Epcot

Great update... I really want to try the luau next time. We didn't even make it to DTD this trip :scared1:

See??? You have a next time to plan for and two things to put on your list and make sure to check off!

I'm in.Loving it!! I learned my lesson from Jan 2009, so this time I bought all the kids a whole lot of Disney Sweatshirts and jackets...matching of course!

Thanks for joining!

That's the next thing I'll have to get is multiple Disney hoodies.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Luau.

Thanks! Sorry yours was canceled. At least you got the money back!

Where IS your TR?? LOL Did you think of something catchy for a title yet?

I will be starting it soon. Right now I'm busy catching up on work, plus getting stuff done before Thursday. I am off from Christmas Eve until the end of the year.

I have a couple of ideas for the title. Let me know what you think of these. The second one keeps with the MVMCP theme from my PTR, while the first one has a line from a Christmas song.

Bippity Boppity Brr! Baby it’s cold outside, and my plans keep getting screwed up

Bippity Boppity Brr! My Very Meticulously Crafted Plans don't quite pan out!

Great start to your TR!! I was so happy to see your link. Can't wait to read more!

I will start our TR after Christmas, we go to Bill's parents tomorrow. It was so great to meet you and your family, you were so sweet.

Sunday, December 12, 2010 - Our 1st day in the parks.

Today we decided to hit MK and I had scheduled a character breakfast at Crystal Palace. Tigger is DH's favorite character and since he works so hard to take us on these trips, I have to make sure I always put his favorite things into our plans. I'm such a good wife....:rolleyes1 LOL

Little background on DH, he's a HUGE football fan. Loves his Giants the best and since they were playing the Vikings that night, he requested that we all wear our Giants jerseys that day. That being said, I think we looked pretty cute. LOL

The weather wasn't too bad that day but it was a little cloudy. We got to the gates a little late so I missed some of the Opening Ceremony. Here's the bit that I caught:

I had previously purchased Ridemax so I pretty much had everything planned out. The park was pretty empty, I'm not sure if it was because it had been opened until 1 AM the night before, but I was loving it. Here's a pic going down Main Street:

Although I was trying to stay on my Ridemax timing (it's very detailed), DH was getting caught up in the park trap...characters at the front of the park to keep you from running down Main Street to the attractions. Pluto & Daisy were up front so we all took some pictures:

I had Adventureland as the first area to hit on our list so we headed there and rode Pirates first. It was pretty empty and we were able to jump straight on and headed off to Frontierland for Splash Mountain and BTMRR without any waiting.

Has anyone EVER seen MK like this???

DisneyChristmas2010032.jpg

Seriously, this is crazy, BUT I LOVED IT!!

Since we were waaaaaaaaaay ahead of my plan (even with stopping for signatures and pics with characters) we meandered along and took some cute pics with the kiddies. I also jumped to buy the snowman Mickey popcorn buckets so we were eating popcorn around 9 AM in the morning. I swear, they must have a fan next to the popcorn that blows the scent into the air, forcing you to buy some. It is so buttery and salty and GOOD!

Our 10:15 ADR for Crystal Palace was quickly approaching so we decided to start walking back towards the front of the park. We got there around 10, checked-in and sat on the steps while waiting for the buzzer to well, buzz. No more than 5 minutes later, we were being seated in the right hand side of the restaurant. I'm sorry, but again, I forgot to take pictures of our food. Eeeps.:guilty:

DS LOVED Pooh's french toast. It was basically fried, puffed dough sprinkled with sugar but he ate about 4 of them. This impresses me because he's not a big eater. I'm looking forward to the teenager he'll become where he raids my fridge every 5 minutes. I threw some eggs on his plate for good measure and made sure he ate those too. Such a mean mother I am... DD has no problem with her appetite and like me, she eats with her eyes. Unfortunately, this causes her to pile massive amounts of food on her plate whereas I put small amounts. You just can't trust the girl at a buffet. At least she eats:rolleyes:.

The characters started to come around so we took some pictures with them:

Snowman Mickey Bucket!!!!! We have an extra so if you didn't get one, I'll sell it to you for $100. Seriously. No, no, I'm just kidding:cool2: LOL

TBC...

Ooh, sorry to hear that. I guess he wasn't too happy after this weeks game. I know how he feels since the Giants beat the Eagles a few years ago when they had a 17 point lead in the 4th qtr and blew it.

Tell him I offer my sincerest condolences. NOT!:lmao:

We arrived in Savannah, GA around 3 PM and checked into the Best Western in the Historic District. DH loves Savannah and was looking forward to seeing how the city was decorated for the holidays. I slept while the kids showered and DH & I got ourselves ready. When we checked in, we noticed a few cops in the alley behind the hotel (where our room was facing). Lo and behold, they were homicide detectives and they were investigating a murder that had occurred there the day before. DH noticed what they were doing and went to go and speak to them. They exchanged cards (guess that's a thing fellow detectives do) and afterward we all headed out to Lady & Sons as we are HUGE Paula Deen fans. Now, a lot has changed since we were last there. L&S now has the store to the left of the restaurant and when you check-in you are directed to wait in there. Paula must be learning from Disney but instead of leaving into the store, you shop while waiting for your table. DH said she "sold out".

We were seated on the top floor and our server was sooo nice. DD loved the lemonade saying it wasn't too sweet and DS loved his sweet tea. DD ordered the chicken pot pie which was the size of her whole head. If you haven't figured it out, she didn't eat the whole thing but said it was good. It came with a puff pastry crust and very creamy looking chicken inside. DS got the kids chicken nuggets and fries and ate them all. DH & I went for the buffet. I will say this, Paula's fried chicken is good, but I still haven't had anything better than the fried chicken at HDDR. That chicken is great!!! Back to Paula's:laughing:...her collard greens are SO STINKIN' GOOD!! I had fried chicken, greens, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and yams. I went back just for a plate of those greens. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. For dessert I had the ooey gooey butter cake but I couldn't finish it.

After dinner, we decided to walk around the main square to see the city. Everything was so pretty but it was cold!

Last time we were in Savannah (Aug '06) we had sweat dripping in our toes! We went to Savannah Candy Kitchen where I just HAD to buy a bag of pralines. They are my absolute favorite. I think I must have been Southern in a former life;). We even had an American Bulldog named Praline:littleangel:. I miss that dog. But I digress...after walking back to the hotel and bolting the door against potential murderers (DH wouldn't stop bothering me about the hotel I picked), we fell asleep for the night.

Enjoying your trip report! I just wanted to say that outside of Disney and Cruising, Savannah is one of our favorite vacation spots!!!! Really enjoyed seeing it included in your TR. :)

Woooowwww. That was SO cold!!! Yeah, he was NOT happy this past Sunday. I seriously can't believe they blew that huge lead!!!! He was YELLING!! I remember not being able to watch a game with him b/c I would cringe every time he yelled at the TV. I used to close the windows so our neighbors wouldn't hear him yelling like a maniac. I can now say that I can sleep though his football rants. This past weekend was pretty bad though. That was a REALLY bad game:sick::sad2::sad1:.

Thanks!! DH loves Savannah! He wants to move there and after seeing that it has more than one season, I might just be up for it after his retirement, LOL.

Those kinds of losses are really hard to take. Heck I still cringe thinking about the MNF game between the Eagles and Cowboys where they would have won the game, but the ball got muffed on the field goal attempt, and all heck broke loose. I think I woke up half the neighborhood yelling, and hurt my foot kicking something.
I also remember being at a game in Philly where the Eagle had the ball in OT, and the Giants got an INT and ran it back for a TD.
Also the previously mentioned game where the Eagles had a 17 point lead in the 4th qtr and the Giants won the game.

So, we finished up with the characters at Crystal Palace and left to finish touring the park. Unfortunately, I was the only one that had to use the bathroom so DH and the kiddies went to go and wait in Casey's until I was done. When I came out, I walked into Casey's but I only saw the kids watching TV in the corner. When DS saw me, he raced into the Emporium and DD said that DH was in the store. Hmmm, they were acting fishy so I walked into the store to find DH. Unfortunately, I couldn't find him because every time I tried walking further into the store, DD would shove various merchandise into my face saying isn't this cute and don't you like this? I finally got fed up and said Where's Daddy? and DD said he's over there but wait, let's look at this.

I FINALLY caught DH in my sight and saw he and DS were at the register, buying something for me, and I realized the kids were his lookout, but too late, I had already seen it:guilty:. I ran to another part of the store before he saw me and acted like I knew nothing. Want to know what it is? Well, you'll have to wait!

I walked out of the store to find some sort of parade going on. Unfortunately, I don't know what the name of it was but I caught half of it on my Playsport:

After the parade passed, we walked over to the Confectionery. After watching Guy Fieri twist homemade candy canes at Disney, I had a HUGE hankering for a crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, pepperminty candy cane. Unfortunately (I think this is my favorite word in the TR, LOL), I was told they were only made at DisneyLAND! :headache: I walked into the hat shop and bought myself the cutest little Minnie ears that I got TONS of compliments on for the rest of the week.

Here's DD trying on the candy cane ears:

We had an appointment so we started walking back towards Advantureland and look who we saw. She was SOOOOO pretty and when I knew I'd be taking pictures, I threw some lipstick on so I wouldn't be so plain in comparison, :lmao:!!

Here's where Pirates come in. A few weeks before we left, I made a reservation for the Pirates League for DD & DS. We walked over to and checked the kids in. They had them roll a pirate's chest to get their new names. It was really cute. DD became Mary Raidrage and DS became Gerard Singedskull.

The kids then went to have their pirate transformations.

When we walked out, we saw PIRATE GOOFY!! They jumped in line to take pics.

When the kids went to turn around, he grabbed both their pirate swords and brought them forward to take this picture, it was adorable.

Onto touring the rest of MK! We were able to get in the Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents, Country Bears, Tom Sawyer's Island (which should become a haunted house during Halloween, I FREAKED OUT in those caves!!) and Haunted Mansion before catching the afternoon parade:

and then stopping for these at Sleepy Hollow:
