J & T's Wishes Wedding 5/5/12 SB/SBP/BW *Wedding & Aulani HM TR Complete!*

I like it. It has a very laid-back theme, and who doesn't love the beach/ocean? And using the chairs that are provided, that should cut some back on the BEO, right? Plus, it seems like less you have to worry about bringing/shipping down, too, and I'm all for making life easier. :rotfl:

Thanks Kristen! Yes using their chairs will definitely reduce the BEO! The canopy may bring it back up but not as much as renting 80 chairs I hope! I will keep you all posted after my meeting next week with Laura!

I love the canopy!!!

Thanks Megan! I was able to set up a phone meeting with Laura for next week. Hopefully we can work it in! :goodvibes

I love your new plans! :goodvibes We are using the canopy, too. On our floral BEO, it says it is $250 with the sheer fabric draping. The starfish ideas are really cute! We decided to have them scattered on our reception tables. For the ceremony, we were planning on having a starfish tied to each end-chair with some tulle, but after seeing the picture of the chairs they provide (which we are using), I'm starting to wonder if that's going to work.

Really?? You may have just made my day! I figured it was $250 PLUS the draping. yippeee! :woohoo: Scattered on the tables sounds really pretty! Are you getting them from disney or are you bringing your own? If you want to know how much I can get them for, let me know and when I go shopping I'll make sure to report back! IDK if it would work or not, but if I can use them and hand them off to you for your wedding a few days later I'd be happy to do that too! I think people might take the ones for place settings but if we lay more around I'll let you know if you want!
hmm I am not sure how they would attach a starfish with tulle to these chairs, IMO. I'd love to see them try though! haha

What a wonderfully bright, light and happy feel! I absolutely love the colors and theink you've made great selections! Everyone's going to have HUGE simles on their faces when they see those place cards. Cute cute!

Tricia,

Love, love, love the canopy! That will look lovely at Shipwreck Beach.

All of your other changes could definitely work too. Great way to bring the beach into The Boardwalk.

Hope the phone meeting with Laura goes well.

I love the new direction! My sister had a beach themed wedding and I just loved all of the details.

The canopy is so beautiful and the centerpieces with the greenery inside look great.

I'm not sure if the parasols would go completely with the beach feel but who cares, if you want them just do them!

Sorry about the mama drama, how frustrating. I think you're right to just pay the difference and having things exactly as you want them.

I totally love this new theme idea!! I think it would work really nice and save you money:). The palm fronds are so pretty, and I love the idea of starfish touches. If you are happy with it, I say go with it. Your ceremony is on the beach, go all the way! I know the chairs aren't your favorite but I think they work well on a beach.

All the photos you posted are beautiful. The different sizes for vases is a good idea too. I think that will look really pretty.

Thanks Jilian! I originally planned beach, then we couldn't have a beach wedding per Disney so I went to my pretty garden/floral, then they told us we could have the beach and I just applied my garden to the beach kind of. I'm starting to be more settled with it being more beachy and it gets me excited! These are the types of things I picture for the parasols:
Girls walking with them (we are walking to the sand in heels then taking them off and walking up the aisle barefoot):

and a bin for guests to take one if they'd like:

Hopefully it will work! :goodvibes

Yay! :yay: Thanks so much for the vote of confidence! I'm just hoping my girly peonies and like pinks will mesh well with the beachy vibe, I'm not ready to give them up! :) I decided if for some reason we have some extra money as we get closer to the wedding I'll likely add the folding chairs back in! But I'm going to make myself be okay with the free ones for now!

I hope Laura agrees with me on the vases and they work out! :goodvibes
Only 6 more days til I can talk to her about it! haha Not that I'm counting or anything!! :rolleyes1

Thanks! That picture with it just looks so gorgeous to me, I'm pretty excited to get it!! Can't wait for my phone meeting with her! :goodvibes Obvi I will report back once I talk to her!!

Wanted to update with things we've gotten for the wedding so far!
My first purchase for the wedding was my bridal hanger I got from Etsy:
IMG_1125.jpg

I also got these at the end of the summer at our grocery store in the clearance section for about $.35 each! I'm planning to put them in the welcome bags for the kids coming to the wedding!

Don't laugh, but my girls are coming up for my bachelorette and a few are coming up early and staying with us for a few days, so I used to have everything all over the bed in piles and now it's in the closet instead, I give you... my planning closet.
IMG_1127.jpg

Flip Flops: (they dont all fit in this basket currently so I might stack them differently, I'm not sure yet. But this basket was my grandmother's so I'm going to try and use it!- and I can't get the picture to rotate.. grr) I got them in white, silver, and a pink color. After they came, the pink color really is darker than I'd like, but there are only 5 pairs of pink for a splash of color. I decided I'm going to wait til Spring and see if flops come out before the wedding and either buy 5 pairs in lighter pink or else more white or silver maybe.

I found these bride and groom princess and prince figurines for our FG that I plan to give her as her present:

Our Koozies!!

a close-up of the koozies!

One of my besties got us champagne flutes from Tiffany's for our e-party, so I'm going to have them engraved with our names and date but here they are pre-engraving. I love that they are just simple and elegant!

and finally a planning update- after seeing a suit on Beth's PJ, I decided to inquire more with CA's, so I did and they have this light grey suit for rent! We signed up, registered the men and we're good to go! We're taking out the vest and adding black suspenders. I'm so glad to have the guys DONE! Their rental will include their suit, shirt, cufflinks, tie, suspenders and shoes! I am thinking of buying them all pink dress socks:cutie:! I also mailed CA's a sample of the BM dress fabric so they can match the ties,

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!!

-We were at Target last night, and they already have the swimsuits out, so finding flipflops shouldn't be a problem.

-Those koozies are adorable! You make me covet things! :lmao:

-And thanks for inadvertently reminding me that I need to email CA's still.

-I love the look of the grey suit. It'll go perfect with your color choices. (This is one of those moments where I almost wish I didn't tell Doug that the guys' clothing is completely up to him ;))

Wow you are very organized!! Everything looks so good. I love the closet, too much :) Btw I have that cricuit too!!

I really like your idea of having the girls walk in high heels and then take off just before going down the aisle! Also, I think the peonies will be perfect. I think they have a beachy vibe to them. If you were doing roses or something then I would say maybe you should rethink but I'm sure your florist will agree too. I'm not sure if you have your bouquet finalized I'm sure you have it in here somewhere but I forget! I would add some greenery stuff to it maybe. I don't know what they are called. They are kind of stiff green leaves or maybe a few pieces of palm fronds broken up. Just a thought. I was trying to google it but I can't find what I am looking for and I'm probably not describing it right.

YES! It really is nuts how far ahead they put things out isn't it? Like Christmas before Halloween etc. Crazy!!
I love the koozies! One day I got the idea for them and found a site that made them so easily it was almost too good to be true! CA's is great and responds very quickly, no worries! bahaha yeah I debated having Josh go try on the suit around here that we are renting from CA's, then I figured what if he tries it and wants to change and now I've already signed everybody up. haha so scratch that idea!

Thanks! I'm glad you think I am organized, I feel completely the opposite! I've been thinking of selling my Cricut lately to someone who will actually use it! I've had it for a bit now and only used it maybe 3 times. I'm such a bad crafter. lol.

Thanks for the suggestion with the leaves. Right now my bouquet (and the BM's actually) have no greenery at all in them. I told Laura (floral) I am oaky with adding in some greenery now to give it that beachy feel, but that might exclude our bouquets. I DID come up with an idea today to add in a splash of aqua, maybe through the GM's ties, or maybe organza ribbon on the bouquets over the silver satin. I'm not really sure yet but I think this splash of color will make it more beachy. More about this below! :)

Those leaves are Banana Leaves, I think!! :)

Thanks Megan!! :)

So as a refresh, our bouquets below:
Mine:
bouq.jpg

My girls:
flower5.jpg

FG is carrying a little pomander of pink hydrangea with a white satin ribbon.
The GM bouts are light pink triple ranunculus with lily grass and silver satin ribbon, DF is white triple ranunculus with same accents.

So today on pinterest I found this: (I can't take individual pictures, its all one image of them together)
aqua.jpg

And thought it was pretty/girly/romantic, but still beachy. Soo I think I'm going to add in AQUA as an accent color in addition to my light pink, grey and white colors. What do you girls think??

I'm not sure on how much of it I want to add in. I was thinking
-I can use it as a color code for meals (ribbon color that is wrapped around and attaching name card to starfish at each place setting).
-I could also use it to attach tags or even just to tie in bows around the fans we place at each seat for the ceremony.
-Possibly have an aqua sheer ribbon wrapped around the stem of the BM bouquets?
-Either wrap the bottom of the GM's bouts with aqua or switch them to wearing aqua ties. But if they wear aqua ties, once they take their jackets off with their bouts, they won't have any pink left.

How much is too much or too little? I'm hoping to be fully prepared and decided by the time I talk to Laura on Wednesday morning with my new plan of action! Every time I talk to her it takes at least a few weeks to get things updated so I'd like to try and be as close on as possible! As always, thanks for your help and words of advice!

Tricia,
I just thought I would drop in real quick to tell you that I love your new scheme and your new ideas. I actually like them a lot better than your original plan. It seems to me you might actually be happier with this new plan. I do think the Aqua would be a great accent color. I think no matter what you do you are going to have a classy, pretty and original wedding.

keep plugging away. I know drama is tough but just stay true to yourself and what you want for your wedding.

Teresa

I'm loving the new theme! I like the idea of throwing in some aqua to really tie together the beachy vibe. Your post reminded me that I need to think about how I'm going to denote to the servers whose eating what, lol.

Yep! :goodvibes I double-checked my floral BEO to make sure that's what it said. I know that floral would be extra, but we are just using the canopy and sheer draping. Since their prices aren't too bad and we don't want to travel with a lot of stuff, we are just having the floral department provide starfish and seashells. Thank you for offering to let us borrow yours, though!

They acted like it wouldn't be a problem to do the starfish end-chair ceremony decorations with those chairs, but I'm with you...not too sure how that would work. Needless to say, we are scratching that off.

I think the aqua will look beautiful with your color scheme! Aqua and hot pink are our colors, so I guess I'm a little biased. ;) I would use aqua ribbon to tie the bridesmaids' bouquets.

Thanks Teresa! I am getting really excited about the new vibe and the aqua accents! I'm glad the stress is starting to work itself out! :)

Yay! Thanks! I'm so glad youre all liking the new theme, it makes me hope my guests will like the pop of color too and the beachy vibe! :woohoo: yes! I am color coding ribbons for food choices :)

That's great! I am talking to Laura tomorrow am and I'm pretty excited to be adding it in! Hmm are the shells cheap enough to get through them? I will have to ask! Always good to know they can get them if I can't for some reason find them! :) Aqua and hot pink will be so fun! :cutie:
