J.C. Penny's "fair & square" pricing...the results are in

I was there last week and bought a stack of clothes for ds. I like the new pricing. I like to shop when it is convenient for me, not special sale days and also can't stand dealing with coupons. Everything was a fair price IMO.

I will say for the most part i am a clearance/on sale shopper......JCP store is a mile from my house......but I don't shop there anymore......what a mess the new 'guy' has made of JCP.....
As for always wanting a coupon .....my DD and GD and i frequent Marshall's and TJ Maxx!!!!

I was just skimming through the August flyer that came in the paper and saw alot of similar things in there that I got my dd at Kohls. If I had shopped at JCP the everyday prices of the stuff would have added to almost double what I spent at Kohls because the stuff was on sale and I could use a coupon.
Sure some of their everyday prices are lower that other stores, but if they are charging more for other stuff that I need and not letting me use a discount or a coupon then they aren't really making shopping there the right choice for me.

I haven't found much for me or my DDs there other than shoes. I can get better quality items for less money at other stores we shop that we get coupons for.

I will say that I did get 2 pairs of Nike shoes there for $10 and $20 cheaper/pair than Finish Line.

My DH waited until the last second to buy clothes for a wedding we went to. I found a complete outfit for 40, including tux pants marked down to 20 (bridal party spent more than that to rent theirs!!!). I have also gotten many pairs of shoes at 8 and 10 a pair, and sweater dresses for myself for 3 and 5. I didn't think I would like the new pricing, but I'm shopping there more now than in the past.

Pennys junior section is one of the only that sells long shorts that my tall DD can wear to school and meet dress code. I picked up two pair of shorts/crops at their regular price of $17 each and two pair of long dress shorts on the clearance rack for $8 a pair. I am a happy Mom.

I find their regular price about half of what Kohls regular price is for clothing. The only time I ever buy anything at Kohls is on the clearance rack and it takes me a long time to scour them. My time is worth a lot to me, so I would rather go to Pennys for a decent regular price and be done. I wish more stores would stop playing the sale game and just price things competetively.

I finally made it in and I have to say the regular prices were good. I bought myself a few "back to school" things and some shirts for my dad's birthday. 10 items for $60 something. Two shirts were clearanced for $3 and everything else was regular price. I was pleased.

I still think that Penneys is in trouble, though, and I hope they survive. Shoppers, like me, don't keep any store in business. I'm a basic dresser who shops for myself only once or twice per year. JCP's merchandise is very basic, not trendy or fashion forward. That's great for me but my DD16 who does her part to support the retail industry would never think of going to JCP. Neither would my two very fashionable sisters.

OT--
Don't know what your dress code is, but ours is mid-thigh. I found Old Navy has some they measure by the inseam, and they come in 5 inch inseams which are perfect. Lots of places sell bermudas in junior sizes, that come down to the knee, but that's a non-starter for my girls. It's very hard to find anything between short shorts and bermudas.
