I've never watched LOST

Please tell me all the reasons why I should rent the DVD of the first season to catch up. Is the show really that good?

I tried REALLY hard to like it over the summer when they repeated season one and just couldn't get into it. I have no idea why. It seemed to move too slowly for me. It oculd be too hi-brow for lowly me!

My best friend who lives in Florida recommended we watched it when she knew it was being shown over here. Her family are big fans and from the first episode we were hooked, and it's one of the rare programs that all the family love equally and I'm so happy I listened to her

The only down side with watching it weekly is the adverts, and it goes too quick, so would love to watch it on DVD. You learn a bit about each character as the weeks go on, and you can never tell what's going to happen next!

I only watched the first two episodes last year, and thought it was too over the top and stopped. Then I was forced to watch the season finale and was like "What happens next!"

So I rented the DVDs and got hooked. It's an addictive plot line. It helped being able to watch them all in a row. I admit watching it on TV now kinda makes the show drag out. It's still fun though. It is one of the first shows that I have watched that has a deep plot with hidden clues in every episode. They are fun to discover.

My theory on the popularity has to do with the rewards given to the viewer by watching every episode very closely. It's like being involved in an ongoing investigation but having to do very little of the work.

Seinfeld did a little bit of this. By having so many episodes tie into another on levels that would only be appreciated by people who watched every episode, fans felt like a little club. Alias touched on this trick, but Lost went all out.

The attractive cast doesn't hurt either. Can't be the only explanation though, not many ugly people in prime time.

I don't know about netflix. I rented Lost from blockbuster online. I think they are a better deal, and faster from my experiance.

Dh and I didnt get into it last year. We rented the whole first season in August and had a Lost marathon when DH was home after having surgery. It was addicting just watching the first season!! We are hooked and we do not miss it Wednesdays nights for anything!!
