I've never been to Universal. Questions:

I'm not into roller coasters at all. I love dark rides and shows. OK so how many days should I devote to Universal? is two days enough?

I'm on a solo trip. just me. this will be very relaxed. I will have 6 nights/5 days, and i want to hit Disney as well. I'm looking to stay offsite and upgrade from the Disney budgets to a nicer place for the same price $120 to 170/night the first week in February.

Oh and is there anything I need to rush to see at first? Otherwise I'm going to take my time and see the sights.

if you are traveling from the motherland to the darkside during your early february vacation, be at the entrance gates early.
if you can arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the park opens, you should be able to be in the parks soon after the park officially opens.

you might want to do one day at the studios and the other at ioa for the second day.

the park that has EE will already have plenty of peeps inside.
unknown now which park that will be.

early february is decent for crowds.
think you should not have any issues with that.

do suggest you look at the park maps on the UO site so you have an idea of what are in the parks and make a list of what you want to do in the day.

if you feel you don't have much on your list, buy a p2p ticket so you can hit both parks on the same day.
i would avoid the weekends as weekdays generally is less crowded

i would think that Kong and DM would be on the list of must see and do...


i do solo trips a lot.
easy to get a lot done if you have a plan

use the SRL when you can as it cuts down on your wait time in line rides.
not all rides have it but the ones that do, try to take advantage of them.

Two days would be a very good start! I feel that sometimes people just rush from ride to ride and then say that they didn't enjoy it. I'm glad to hear you say that you plan to take your time and look at all the little things!

OP, even though Uni offers some great coasters, they are only a small portion of the available entertainment of two full sized theme parks. You will have a really fun time taking it easy and seeing as much as you can. And you still might miss a few things as some shows can eat up 30+ minutes at a time. Have fun, I'm jealous!

Well, some do think that

I take my time in the parks and don't rush from one ride to another
Some need a good 3 days to do everything and treat it as a vacation trip

Depends on your touring style... You could get through both parks in one day, but you'd be rushed and miss stuff, or you could spend 2 days, take it easy, and see a lot more...but that eats up another day of precious vacation time. It kind of depends on what you're looking to get out of the trip. Not spending time on the coasters will save you a bit, but in Feb. the lines shouldn't be much of an issue anyhow.

Uni has some gems that aren't necessarily top tier attractions (the horror makeup show for example).

You might look into staying at Uni's "value" resort, Cabana Bay, for a night... It should fall into your price range and would get you into one of the parks an hour early.

I think two days will be fine. One day in each park, or I'd recommend (if cost is ok) you get a park-to-park ticket. Unless you will ride the 3 water rides in Islands of Adventure several times, then you might not need a full day in IoA. With a park-to-park ticket, you could ride Hogwarts Express both ways (different experience each way) and spend 1.25 days in the Studios park and 0.75 days in IoA. Use single rider line whenever you can. Check the map when you enter to get show times. Both parks are basically circles and are easy to navigate.

There are many things to do in the parks that aren't coasters. DH cannot ride any of them at this time, and he still has a great time and is in total support of long trips and going to the parks every day and riding things that aren't coasters.

Universal Studios- be there when the gates open and hit Despicable Me first.

Islands of Adventure- Kong first.

In February, you should then have several hours to take your time and see leisurely check out the parks without worrying too much about wait times.

I wasnt implying that it was a coaster park, I simply meant that if hes skipping the coasters that he probably COULD do both parks in one day. To each their own...
