I've lost my wedding ring!!!! FOUND! (post 39)

I would also check the bedrails and then just lift up the mattress after removing all bedding. Then, tread barefoot lightly on all the bedding.

I was robbed at gunpoint 30 days after my wedding. Yep, the bad guy took my engagement and wedding rings. After that trauma, I didn't want to wear ANY jewelry, but husband was so angry and worried and all that man stuff that he bought me my wedding ring and engagement ring all over again. They are identical, except he said I "earned" a bigger diamond.

Yes, it looks the same as the rings in my wedding photos, and yes, he asked me to marry him with them all over again, but I still think it is a horrible shame that I don't have the ring that I married HIM with. It makes me feel miserable for being unlucky to have been robbed; like I did something wrong. It isn't the ring, it is the everything that went with the rings on my wedding day.

I do hope you find your ring!

Check in the bed as well.

I "lost" my engagement ring once. Took it off to take a shower and put it back on the right hand instead of the left. I'm not blonde, honest. But I never thought to look at the other hand. :headache:

I know how you feel. I took my ring to the jeweler to replace the stone (it cracked, which I find hard to believe, I think it was switched the last time it was resized) anyway, I just wanted the stone replaced but they replaced the band and everything. So I go to pick it up and they had replaced the wrap as well because the jeweler dented the wrap. Technically it was an entirely new ring, not what I wanted. I threw it back at the jeweler and told him I should have just picked something willy nilly, that was not MY ring.
DH made him take my original setting and put the stone in it. Can you believe the jeweler had no idea why I was upset, not a clue.

I was going to suggest the bedrails as well. I found my ring there one time. Also suggest the pages of any book or magazine that might be on your nightstand.

Sending Pixie Dust to help with your search! :wizard:

Oh, under the bed around the edge of the wall. I tend to knock stuff off my table in my sleep, so it may not be anywhere near the bed.

Do you have a neighbor with a metal detector?

Saw this on MSN. See, it could be worse.;)

Diver finds lost wedding ring — 16 months later
New Zealander had promised wife he would find her band in murky harbor

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A New Zealand man who promised his wife he would find his wedding ring after it fell into the capital's murky harbor has succeeded — 16 months later.

Ecologist Aleki Taumoepeau was checking Wellington harbor for invasive plant species in March last year when the ring went into 10 feet of water.

"It flew off into the air and everyone on the boat was looking at it and said it was like a scene from 'Lord of the Rings' in slow motion," Rachel Taumoepeau was quoted as saying in Thursday's Dominion Post newspaper.

He tossed an anchor overboard to mark the spot and pledged to Rachel, his wife of three months, that he would find it.

She offered to buy a replacement. "I just said 'No, I'll find it,'" he said.

An initial search three months after the loss failed, but Taumoepeau was determined. He returned again recently for another dive, risking chill midwinter temperatures.

"I was getting cold and tired, so I said to God, it would be really good to find the ring about now," he said.

He spotted the anchor — with the ring lying just inches away.

"I couldn't believe that I could see the ring so perfectly," he said. "The whole top surface of the ring was glowing" in the normally murky waters.

Friends have taken to calling Taumoepeau "Lord

One would think the jeweler would have had dealings with wedding rings! What was he thinking? That you'd see the new rings and get all happy? Crazy.

I also find it hard to believe the stone cracked. They jsut don't crack unless you whack it really hard and it isn't a diamond.

I lost my engagement ring at WDW in April. It was hot and for some reason I had a rash on my finger so I took my rings off (engagement ring, wedding band and anniversary band). I put them into a pouch in my camera bag. We went back to the hotel then went down to the pool for a few hours and I left my camera bag in the room. When I went back to the room and looked for my rings, the engagement ring was gone. The other 2 were there. It would have been very difficult for it to fall out of that pouch but I really don't think someone broke into the room and managed to find it while leaving the bands behind. The bands each have 7 small diamonds in them and are fairly valuable. I was heartbroken. My insurance covered some of it, but unfortunately the value had doubled since I got them but we did not increase our insurance. It never even occurred to me to get an updated appraisal. The most frustrating part was that I had just changed insurance companies about 6 months earlier. I think they should have asked me how old the appraisal was but it's too late now. I sure learned a lesson.

Just 2 weeks ago I was shopping and I looked down at the floor and what do I see but an engagement ring! Not mine, though. How bizarre is that? Unfortunately the owner has not claimed it. I feel terrible because I know how heartbreaking it is to loose your ring. I don't think it's worth too much, but I'm sure it's sentimental. There is something engraved in it but I can't read it because it's worn down (plus my eyes are getting old). I keep hoping but at this point I don't think anyone will claim it.

At least you know that your ring has to be in your house. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and I think you are going to find it!

I think I'm going crazy. I remember waking up in the night and putting my wedding and engagement rings on my bedside table (sometimes my fingers swell when I'm sleeping and they irritate me). When I woke up this morning, only my engagement ring was there. I KNOW I must have been wearing both rings last night when I went to bed, because the engagement ring goes on top of my wedding band.

I've searched all over and around my bedside table, my bedroom, by bedding, and my ensuite, and it is nowhere to be found. It has to be here somewhere, doesn't it?! Inanimate objects just don't disappear, do they?!

Of course, all I can think about is that scene in Apollo 13 where one of the astronauts' wives lost her ring down the drain. My DH is some remote part of Brazil at the moment, and I'm trying not to feel superstitious.

Has anyone else ever lost their wedding rings? Did you find them again? Please give me some hope that it might still turn up!

I didn't lose my ring, but I lost the diamond out of my engagement ring (which is soldered to my wedding band) while I was gardening. I probably went 5 years with no ring on because we couldn't afford a new diamond for the ring. Then one Christmas I unwrapped a present to find my ring whole again. Of course, I started crying. :flower3:

I hope your ring turns up soon.

Hi! I lost mine about 15 years ago. They were welded together so I lost both my engagement and my wedding ring. Almost the same situation as you've described too....I put them on the bedside table but in the morning they were gone. They stayed gone for 13 years too. One day when we were tearing up some old carpeting in our bedroom closet, there, tucked under one edge were my rings! LOL
Turns out there were other little *toys* hiding there as well...little rubber bands, small balls of paper, a small key to a set of luggage. It was our CAT who stole things and we never thought to consider her as the one who took my wedding rings! We laugh about it to this day.

Good luck...I hope you find yours. I was very relieved to find mine!

I was going to suggest asking your cat, but you say your hamster wouldn't do such a thing. ;)

DH lost his while he was sleeping one night. It turned up in his pillowcase. Perhaps you could look there? Good luck--I'm sure it'll be found in your room! :goodvibes Also, get a flashlight to help you look; it may be camouflaged somehow and you'll see it better if it can shine back at you.

Still no luck...tore apart the bed, took the box spring and mattress off, vacuumed the carpet, and no sign of it. Truly, the only explanation I can come up with is that I stuck it somewhere in my sleep. I'm hoping it will turn up it my flour jar, or my pencil case, or my veggie drawer...:guilty:

Thanks for all of your good wishes. I went out with friends, had a pisco sour, and am now, at the very least, less stressed about the situation ;). I am still hopeful that it will turn up, but I don't know how I'll explain its disappearance to DH!

From hearing all of your experiences, I guess this is fairly common. If I ever find it again, you can bet it won't be coming off my finger!

I lost mine as well. I hardly ever wear it at home for various reasons and I had put it on a tall counter. The next day I went for it and it was gone :( Three days later (just as we were looking to replace it) it showed up on the floor. I imagine it got knocked over and with cats & kids just got pushed around a lot.

I did do it also once while sleeping. Found it later that day though. I must have taken it off during the night and it went in my pillow case.

Not a wedding ring story, but still...

My DH, (DBF at the time) had bought me a gold bracelet, and I was at his house once and took it off. I could never find it again! :sad1: A couple months later, we went ice skating, and inside a skate was my bracelet! :rotfl: How it got there, I will never know!

And I had once lost my diamond earring backing. I looked EVERYWHERE! It was nowhere to be found. One morning, I was getting ready to vacuum, and there it was, right there on the floor!

Things pop up at the weirdest times!

Add me to list of "Lost AND Found" rings. My engagement ring disappeared from my bedside table. I was heart broken. DH wanted to buy another, but I refused.

A couple years later we bought a new bed and when we took the old king sized bed apart, we found the ring in the middle! I suspect one of the cats played with it and knocked it under. It was far enough under the vacuum wouldn't reach and I confess I am not the worlds best housekeeper.

I also find it hard to believe the stone cracked. They jsut don't crack unless you whack it really hard and it isn't a diamond.

DH had hand picked my stone and it was clear, the one that cracked was full of carbon. It cracked along a large piece of carbon. I think they switched the stone when I sent it in to be resized but could never prove it. The jeweler asked what I did for a living, I was a stock room manager for Michael's. Well he insisted I bashed it against something at work, I never wore my rings to work for that very reason.
I actually very rarely wear my rings, only when I go out. I don't like wearing them when I clean or garden or anything like that.

I lost my wedding ring and engagement ring (soldered together) about 13 or 14 years ago in the yard where we lived at the time. We pulled out my FIL's metal detector, and went over the entire yard, but could not find the ring.

The house we lived in was torn down several years ago. My SIL and her husband built a house further up onto the land. Both those events left a section of yard undisturbed, however there was farm equipment that drove across the yard as a shortcut to a field, and was also regularly mowed all those years. (We knew SIL was going to build there, we just didn't know when, so we kept it mowed to keep it yard-like.)

DH bought me new ring sets, since we figured we'd never see the original again.

A couple months ago, DH asked me if I wanted a surprise. Sure! I like surprises. I closed my eyes, and held out my hand, and guess what he put in my hand? All the diamonds intact, the rings had dirt on them, but looked like they weren't bent at all!!! I cleaned them, and they looked brand new, with no damage what-so-ever.

DH had went over to visit his sister. He parked his car next to where our house used to be, and walked up to his sister's to talk. Afterwards, he walked back to the car. He noticed something shiny in the evening light lying in that area of yard that hadn't been disturbed in tearing down our old house or building SIL's new house. (Remember, it had been driven over by tractors and mowers a lot over those years.) It was the rings.

Never give up hope.

Have you called your local newstations? A few months ago on of our stations ran a personal interest story that was exactly like this. Basically said that a resident had found what appeared to be an engagement ring in such-n-such city and for anyone that suspected that it could be theirs to contact the station. They didn't give out any info on what the ring looked like or where it was specifically found, but would take a description from the person and pass it on to the finder. A week or so later they ran a story about reuniting the ring with its owner. You might try that!

OP, good luck finding your ring!

DH finally came home from his trip, and together we moved the bed, lifted the carpet and shook it out...low and behold, after flipping the carpet completely upside down, there was a clink! This was after both the housekeeper and I scoured the carpet and vacuumed it. It must have been stuck in the pile really well. At least I don't have to worry about haunted houses or sleepwalking anymore ;)

I am SO happy! Thanks for all your good wishes.
