I think I'm going crazy. I remember waking up in the night and putting my wedding and engagement rings on my bedside table (sometimes my fingers swell when I'm sleeping and they irritate me). When I woke up this morning, only my engagement ring was there. I KNOW I must have been wearing both rings last night when I went to bed, because the engagement ring goes on top of my wedding band.

I've searched all over and around my bedside table, my bedroom, by bedding, and my ensuite, and it is nowhere to be found. It has to be here somewhere, doesn't it?! Inanimate objects just don't disappear, do they?!

Of course, all I can think about is that scene in Apollo 13 where one of the astronauts' wives lost her ring down the drain. My DH is some remote part of Brazil at the moment, and I'm trying not to feel superstitious.

Has anyone else ever lost their wedding rings? Did you find them again? Please give me some hope that it might still turn up!

I lost mine when we moved. I had put them in my purse the night before because we were painting before moving everything the next day. I left them in there not wanting the damage them while moving. Later in the day I went to put them on and they were missing. :sad1: I searched everywhere. Even took the seats out of the truck I was driving that day. I was so upset. I actually think they were stolen but can't prove it. We were able to replace them. I got the same setting (bigger stones though :rolleyes1) and wrap that I had before. DH said I could get a new style if I wanted but I wanted to replace exactly what we had picked out in the beginning.

It's been 11 years and those rings still haven't shown up. DH and I will be married 17 years this Sat so no bad omen for us. Just one of those things that happen.

That's terrible. I'm glad you were able to replace them, but were you able to get past the fact that they weren't the rings you got married with? My wedding ring is engraved with our initials and wedding date...although it's not worth a lot, it has so much sentimental value.

It must make it worse suspecting that someone stole them...what a low thing to do. I sure hope that nobody stole mine, though...that would mean someone was in my room while I was sleeping .

All I can think of is that maybe I went sleepwalking?!

Have someone else look too. Sometimes a different set of eyes sees things differently.

DH lost his while doing yardwork. Our DD (4-5 at the time) found it out in the yard about a month later:) There is hope.

You will probably find your in a obscure place that you have looked at least a dozen times. Since you had them in your house and haven't gone anywhere they have to be there.

At first it was a little strange but now I don't view them as any different. DH still put them on my hand after we got them. The others never surfaced so I couldn't dwell on the fact that I didn't have them. I was devastated because they were the ones we got married with but DH helped me feel better about it. And I am an extremely sentimental person-- I have my grandparents and great grandparents wedding rings.

Good idea. My DD10 helped me look before I took her to school, but maybe I can convince one of my friends to come over later and help me look. Otherwise, I'm hoping my housekeeper will find it when she comes tomorrow!

Thanks! I know it's too early to give up hope...

Do you have a dog or a puppy? I took a diamond ring off one night and the next day it was gone. But I had a vague recollection of my puppy standing on my bed and something clicking in her mouth. I kid you not, about 4 years later (yes years!), I was doing doggie duty in the back yard and I saw something shiny in the dirt under the fence. It was my ring!!! The dog had mouthed it and dropped it when she was outside. (I don't believe that she swallowed it, although I did check for a few weeks and swore that when she passed I was getting her x-rayed, because it was way too close to the fence. She'd never have been able to get her hind quarters that close.)

No, no puppy...and I think it might be a little big for our hamster to swallow ;). But hey, if you can find it in your backyard, surely I can find it in my bedroom!

about 11 years ago, i had gained some weight and my engagement ring had gotten too tight for my ring finger, so i wrapped some tape around it and was wearing it on my pinky finger, until i could get it sized. i was out christmas shopping and had been 2-3 places around town before going home and getting ready for a family christmas dinner that night with DH's family. after we got home from the dinner, i realized my engagement ring was gone. DH's aunt searched her house, including the trash, i called everywhere i'd been during that day and searched each parking lot...nothing. i don't even want another one-DH bought it for me when he was still in high school (my first year of college, his senior year of high school) and saved his lunch money to pay for it. it's irreplaceable. i hope you find your ring :) it's got to be around there somewhere. maybe a fresh pair of eyes would help? perhaps a friend could come over and help look for it?

 That is so sad. I'm not sentimental about a lot of things... but I think my wedding ring is my most "prized" possession. I feel naked without a ring on my finger (my engagement ring is too loose to wear on its own), but I hate the thought of having to get a new one. I'm going to continue to be optimistic for the next few days that it will eventually show up!

 Try not to panic, hopefully they will turn up.

I have never lost my rings, but did lose the diamond out of the engagement ring once. I thought I would never find it, so I was pretty bummed. But a few hours after I noticed it was gone I happened to see something sparkling on the kitchen floor. Lo and behold it was my diamond so I put it on a piece of cardboard, taped over it and put it in a ziploc baggie and took it right up to the jeweler's to be sent in for repair. I keep watch of the prongs a lot better now.

Say the St. Anthony prayer.

I don't believe in any paranormal stuff, etc. but I tried this on a whim a few weeks ago when I was really frustrated about something I had lost, and it's worked twice for our family since. Just say it and then go about your business - don't feel cynical or do anything extra in the way of looking.

Say out loud three times in a row,

"St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please come around,
Something is lost that must be found."

Then just go about your business and see what happens.

Just try it!!

Sadly, I do not have good news to report.

I lost a beloved engagement ring a month before my wedding. It was sheer stupidity, but a mystery none the less. We were at a zoo and entered an aviary with a shiny object warning and without thinking I removed all of my rings and put them in my pocket. 2 hours later, I didn't have the engagement ring anymore. There was no hole in my pocket and all rings were put in there.

I would simply suggest relooking and carefully looking in all clothing and linens within the vicinity.

It is absolutely devestating to lose a token such as a ring and hopefully you will find it again! The good news is that it is lost in your house. We are Catholic and I've said that St Anthony prayer relenentlessly. It sadly didn't work for me though I've heard others who it did work for. But I think it is more a coincidence than saintly assistance.

I would be heartbroken if I lost my wedding ring. Maybe you can take a break from looking, go along with your scheduled day, and then tonight look again. Maybe if you take a break from looking, you won't be as frustrated and be able to concentrate better on looking after a break and calming down.

DH has lost his wedding ring 5 times. Not the same ring 5 times, but the original and the 4 replacements purchased after each one was lost. Needless to say, I'm not advocating buying any more rings for him. I guess he's just going to have to tell people he's married instead of it being obvious by him wearing a ring.

Have you checked the bed rail? That's the rail of the bedframe in which the box/box spring rests. Ours has a ring-sized gap where it could be.

In case you're wondering, we just had our 14 anniversary. So, 5 rings lost in 14 years.

One time, several years ago, I was playing with my DD in the snow without wearing gloves and my wedding ring slipped off of my finger. I searched the entire area immediately and again when the snow melted, but no ring. I purchased a replacement ring (smaller size!) and figured that was that. Fast forward to the next spring and I am raking in the same area of the yard to get the lawn ready for summer. I pull the metal rake through the grass and hear an unusual "ding" sound, which turns out to be the rake hitting my lost wedding ring!

I hope that you find your ring.

My DH lost his several years back. He had been working in the yard and he took it off. Later he went to the store to pick something up and Salvation Army was out there collecting change so he reached into his pocket and gave them all of his change. Later he realized that his ring was in there with his change. So we bought him a new ring but a few months later we found his ring. He had misplaced it at home. In our 20 years, we have only lost & found the one ring.

About 10 years ago, the same, almost EXACT thing happened to me. I was sleeping and my hands had swollen, so I took my rings off and put them on the bedside table. When I woke in the morning they were gone. :sad1: I never did find them, and we lived in a SMALL house, so there wasn't very many places they could have been. I was devastated; I had a marquis cut diamond with a wrap that had marquis diamonds and emeralds, and it was gone. :guilty: My husband DID have several "friends" over that night to play Dungeons & Dragons, and to this day I still wonder if one of them was brave enough to snatch 'em from my table while I was sleeping.

look between the bed rail and the mattress, I lose pens there all the time. Also look around the legs of the night table, it could be close to the leg and not easily seen.

Do you have a drawer in the table? Maybe it got knocked in there.

Are there any air vents near your side of the bed?
