"I've Got Some Bad News and Some Worse News!" 11/14 Last chap!

I love the People of Walmart website! That would be the type of people my DH would attract! Rememeber the KAVORKA! :rotfl:
Ahhh..that is right!!! I need to get a t-shirt made before we go back to the world!!!

:thumbsup2

I was laughing with the Booger, not at it!:lmao::rotfl:
I am sure that is what you meant by laying on the ground and saying, "My sweeeeeeeet Gawwwwwwwdddddddd is that thing ughllllllyyyyyyyyyy. ;) :lmao:
:rotfl2::rotfl2: DS started Boy Scouts this spring after finishing Cub Scouts. Some fit this description to a T.
It is either Revenge of the Nerds on steroids or amazing kids that want to push themselves to be the best they can be!

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Love the names!!! I did take license to embellish them! :rotfl2:

oh my gosh! you were in charleston! i live here!!!
Ya know we are getting married there next summer!!!
at which campground did you stay?
James Island!

Dawn....I tried to warn you about camping in the SC heat! It is hard to describe but you certainly hit the nail on the head!! I hope that the no-see-ums and mosquitoes were kind! We have camped at James Island a couple of times (we have a pop up camper) and love it. Oh..and you described the road leading into and out of the campground perfectly. It is sorta creepy!:scared1:

I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!:rotfl:

That Wal Mart fiasco is hilarious! No wonder you didn't get back to camp till midnight!! We thought you & Dan ran off into the night into a cozy, air conditioned hotel room, just to leave us out in hot, blazing tent-ovens!:lmao:

Way to start the morning Dawn! :thumbsup2 I am glad you finally arrived at the campground. I don't know how you all managed in that heat. I remember it being really hot the next week while we were at the OBX. Like 100 plus degrees inland.

So pictures please! I want to see the campground, but I will be patient until you get to the beach.

:rotfl2: to the Walmart episode! That's a hoot, but I'm glad you got your cooler and a nice cold bag of ice.

Gotta go now and get ready for work. :sad2: BTW - how was your trip to the State Fair? :rolleyes1

You are a braver woman than I Gunga Dawn! This has been one of the hottest summers I can remember here in the south. We've had truely miserable weather and I rarely venture outside. even though I'm betting you guys ended up having a wonderful time, I don't think I could have braved it.

Last night was Mexican food night for us and I made the jalapeno dip, everyone (including me) really loved it. I've been asked to make it again for my nepher to take to the lake this weekend

Dawn....I tried to warn you about camping in the SC heat! I think if it was like a normal summer, it would have been bearable. This was ridiculous. It is hard to describe but you certainly hit the nail on the head!! I hope that the no-see-ums and mosquitoes were kind! Stay tuned! We have camped at James Island a couple of times (we have a pop up camper) and love it. Oh..and you described the road leading into and out of the campground perfectly. It is sorta creepy!:scared1:
I would love to camp there again, but it will be after we get a camper I think.

We thought you & Dan ran off into the night into a cozy, air conditioned hotel room, just to leave us out in hot, blazing tent-ovens!:lmao:
The thought did cross our minds!!! :lmao:

So pictures please! I want to see the campground, but I will be patient until you get to the beach.
I know there was a few of the campground...maybe on Carsyn's camera. :confused3 Folly Beach coming up!

Gotta go now and get ready for work. :sad2: BTW - how was your trip to the State Fair? :rolleyes1
The fair was great! I have a pic to post!!! ;)

Glad it was a hit!!! I think it is amazing myself! :rotfl2:

Sounds like.... Um... Fun? :lmao: Seriously, I don't get the camping thing, personally. I like nature and all, but that's a bit much for me. I'll take the cabin with hot tub, thanks! I do know people that like camping, though. I just think they're a bit nuts. :lmao: That would be my DH and DD. They are into that stuff.

The Walmart trip sounds a wee bit interesting. Our local Walmart is nowhere near that interesting.

So we wheeled our cooler up to the front where Koolaidquandria was working and she had no idea what to do about the price. So she called for back up from the Walmart 4 miles away since ya know there is only one other person working this Walmart at 9:41 p.m. and he is the ever needed door greeter.

While waiting for Moqueefeshira to hop in her boyfriends Impala and hussle over here, Koolaidquandria, was helpful enough to take the order of a gentleman who came to buy his wife some aluminum foil
.

She prolly stopped by the way of Friedchickenisha's house to discuss the price! :rotfl:

"I would never buy this here. I would just go to the dollar store and get it for like, I don't know, around a buck."

Really the dollar store sells stuff for a buck???!!!!????:rotfl::lmao:

Day 4

DSCF7030-1.jpg

Breakfast that morning was bagels and fruit. We packed up the cooler with some sandwiches and taco dip and yogurt and were ready to get to the beach by 10 a.m. It was hot enough out to break a sweat just breathing.

Putting on a happy face!

Usually the boys are busy throwing a football around or something and I have to gather them several times to get moving from a campsite but this time, Baylor was ready to go before we all were! It was so hot nothing but soaking up salt filled water while dehydrating in the sun, sounded good! :lmao:

DSCF7033.jpg

Soon we were all loaded up and following each other to the beach. it was only about 3 miles from where we were but since it is only a 2 lane highway, it took about 10 minutes.

Soon we could smell the ocean and were looking over marshland at low tide. It made me get a bit giddy and I cannot express how much I love the look of this area. :lovestruc

Soon enough we were on Central Street in Folly Beach and noticing the very Cancun feel to the shops and laid back atmosphere of this area of Charleston.

DSCF7055.jpg

DSCF7054.jpg

We took a right where Central meets the Holiday Inn and headed down to the beach. Because we had camped at the county park, we did not have to pay for parking! The facility was very nice, showers and a little snack shack.

But man, the beach was huge and the sand was the perfect consistency of granular goodness. Some beaches you sink up to your kneecaps in to walk and others are so hard you get shin splints. This was perfect!!!

DSCF7058.jpg

We had brought boogie boards with us that have lasted 10 years at least and a skim board as well as a football. Snorkeling gear was in the van since we did not know what to expect for fish watching or how much undertow there would be.

Waves were perfect IMO - the boys would have liked a bit rougher water though.

Must have been reflections from the water because Baylor is not usually spotted!

BTW - I forgot to mention Baylor's hair. Or lack thereof.

He had gotten a Mohawk in June from Treyner. The afternoon we left, he decided to try and shorten the sides himself. Idioto #1 and #2, had previously, taken apart the clippers, to try and unjam all of the hair that was in it from cutting Baylor's hair so short the first time.

So Baylor comes upstairs, literally as we are out the door, the rest of the gang in the vehicles and I ask him what in the name of Michaele Salahi had he done to his hair?

He looked like a checkerboard.

The sides were all different lengths, some down to the scalp and other 1/2 an inch long. He explained the clippers were not working.

Well Thank You Captain Obvious.

He brought them up to show me and the problem was that only half of the clippers were catching hair, the other half was at a diagonal. Thus the Helen Keller do.

So I took him by his ear into the bathroom as he protested he would just wear a baseball cap the whole time, and shaved his sides down to the skin with a new razor. There was not a whole lot of choice and I knew in the water he would not wear a baseball hat the whole time so he would look like a refugee.

His hair grows amazingly fast so I honestly was not worried and this way it would at least grow out even.

When done, he looked at me and I at him. Then I busted out laughing because he looked Neapolitan.

His new skin head sides were as white as a baby's bottom.

His face was more on the pink side from sun and his neck and back were chocolate mousse since he gets so tan.

I thought he might kill me.

I said, it is not so bad and after a few hours in the sun, it will be fine.

We walked outside and Treyner, who was coming in the house to find out what in the name of Blazing Saddle had taken us an hour to get outside, took one look at him and said he looked like a youhoo (insert actual medical term here) with a mohawk.

I am trying not to laugh and kill him at the same time because I am looking for big brother support here. We have a crisis on our hands and his calling his brother a walking wienie was not going to make Baylor feel more comfortable about his current predicament.

So thus, the new do for Baylor in these pictures. His hair did grow longer within 2 weeks but at that point, there was no going back. I don't think he will ever cut his own hair again though! :rotfl2:

We had brought Kizzy with in her carrier and thought she would not be allowed on the beach till 4 p.m. So initially we thought she would stay in her carrier on the beach but after asking a lifeguard, I was told as long as she stayed on her leash and with a short distance of us, she was so small she would not be a bother for others.

Treyner hearing this, assumed she might like to try boogie boarding.

Not so much likin the whole, almost drowning thing! :scared1:

More pics coming up!

hey guys...are some pics sideways for you all? I changed:confused3 them in photobucket but they still look sideways to me!

Day 4: Part Deux

The water got about chest high 50 yards out and then, there was a sand bar that leveled off to waist high again. The kids all did great swimming and sharing and laughing with the boards and Treyner even tried to show Marissa how to boogie!

She did better than Kizzy by far! :rotfl2:

Soon we ate lunch and the birds were happy!

We re-slathered on sun screen and I was convinced I would not get burned this trip!

Kristi even got into the water farther than her usual comfort zone. I think that it helped there were so many of us to help watch one another it allowed her more freedom than she is used to. Usually it is just her and Marissa and that means one person always needs to be on watch. :thumbsup2

We really had a great time but by early afternoon, we were spent.

Kristi and Marissa were heading to the highway in search of a cheap hotel. One night on foam nap mats was enough to know that the dirt would not be friendly to their backs this camping trip and some air conditioning couldn't hurt either! :worship:

We were going to try and stick it out, praying that some cool winds would blow and we could stay for the rest of the reservation. The plan was we would head back and shower up and then all meet up later that night if possible.

The girls were looking forward to a shower and removing sand from their bikini bits! :teacher:

Great update. Those pics are making me long for the beach again!! Looks like you guys were having a blast! Kizzy -- not so much! :lmao:

Love the story behind Baylor's new do. Wow, but he looks different without the longer hair.

And the pictures look fine -- no sideways shots here.

Edit -- you're too quick for me! When I was replying to the first update, you posted the second!

There are two shots in the second update that are upside down. Or did the girls flip the camera over??

you're getting married here next summer? it is a beautiful place. i just hope your wedding isn't in july! lol! it's normally hot here, but this summer was hotter than normal.

there is a campground near my house, but it is farther out of town (summerville). but it doesn't have a creepy road. love love folly beach! i'll keep reading.

(i'm one of those lurkers (you don't like) who doesn't post in your threads because i can never think of anything witty to say! but i always love to read your reports.)

Great updates Dawn! Those pictures are so cute with Kizzy in the water, poor thing! Baylor's new do makes him look a lot older too!
The pictures don't look sideways to me, but my head is a bit crooked - sore neck and all...;)

I flipped them on photobucket but on my end they along with 2 from the 1st installment are still coming up goofy. The first one has 3 that are sideways - not sure if I should re-try or not because on photobucket they show the right way? :confused3
Was probably looking for the nutritional value and calorie content. :drinking1
I know! :lmao:

Yup over the July 4th week but it will be a small wedding on the beach with a few friends and family just outside of a house we are renting on Folly so if it is hot - they won't be out for long!

I do not hate lurkers...I just am always curious...and you do not have to be witty for great input!!!

july 4 weekend! good luck with that! ;) :lmao:

no seriously. i've always said if i renew my vows with DH, i want to do it at disney or at the beach. something about being in the simple beauty of the ocean--God's creation in all its glory. love the beach. but yes, you can all run into the house and cool off!

(okay. i will try not to lurk. you've forced me out of lurkdom.)

I like Baylor's haircut. I was wondering why he went with the mohawk, but it looks good on him.

Great beach pics. Poor Kizzy - OMG! She looks like a small wave could just suck her right in. The kids look like they are having a blast.

I love what I have seen of SC so far!

He originally got the Mohawk in June because he wanted something cooler than his long hair and he wanted something to distract people looking at his leg so Treyner cut it.

Yeah - Treyner was not her BF after a bit!

So funny WDW story I just heard from a friend who just got back from her first trip ever there a few days ago. I helped plan a ton so I was excited to see how she liked it.

It all was good minus one event:

DHS after closing and they were staying at CBR. A woman in a scooter goes to the front with 4 adults and 4 older children plus 3 more little kids in strollers. One of the strollers is a side by side double.

Well we all know that a huge debate is how many people should load with a handicap person and I am not going to offer my opinions on that subject here.

What I will say though is that what ensued, made me laugh and be in awe.

So CBR bus pulls up, driver gets out and scooter woman loads herself. Then the rest of her posse decide they too will get in as well, regardless of the throngs that have been standing in line for a long time.

A woman, in the front of the line, mentions that she thinks one or two people could go with the scooter woman but the rest should have to stand in the back of the line with the rest of the herd.

So scooter woman's kin, who was a female pushing the double stroller, tells the woman who made the comment off, then starts to lad herself and the double wide,

INTO THE BUS VIA THE HANDICAP RAMP!!!!!

You read that right.

She explained to the bus driver that she was not going to fold the stroller down while she had two sleeping toddlers and she would load them like scooter lady.

At this point, she proceeds to move onto the ramp, back her hiney up, re fix herself, etc. etc....all the while shooting glares at the original complaining lady, saying that she would show her how to wait. Asking if she looked like the stroller was even etc. Egging on further debate between them.

The complainer lady had since shut up, wishing she never opened her mouth because arguing with double wide was not going to help.

The CM, there as well as the bus driver, never interceded or stopped double wide from loading the stroller and herself or told her to put it down.

Now my friend is Shauna and she works with my sister with those who have mental handicaps as a guardian and a case worker. She holds a Masters of Social Work and is one of the fairest people I know.

Well 5 minutes went by as double wide was moving back and forth, to and fro, looking for a fight and finally, Shauna had had enough.

She has blood boiling and she is going to blow.

She yells out,
"Why don't you just shut up and get on the bus so the rest of us could get to our hotel as well. You look like an idiot and none of think you are in the right so just get on the dang bus.

YOU HAVE JUST RUINED MY MAGICAL DAY!!!!!"

The crowd errupts in applause and ole double wide glares at Shauna like she is going to kill her. Shauna's nephew, leaned in and warned he was afraid she may indeed, get killed and Shauna assured him that even with a broken foot and a air cast, she would take her.

So double wide finally told the bus driver he could load her and because Shauna was in the 3rd line que, she did not board but because the lights were on, she could see the arguing continued as soon as the original complainer boarded the bus because double wide was blocking the back upper seating with the stroller.

The bus left with that whole back section empty.

WTHeck?

First, I never have seen people loading via the ramp unless in a wheelchair or scooter and second, why would the bus driver not call security or something.

The day the good fun of others is ruined because of some nut and Disney is not willing to shut them down, if I am there it will be vigilante justice baby!!!pirate:
