Can anyone give me pointers for nice nighttime shots. I'm not too sure on which setting are ideal for night photography! I love looking at pictures of WDW at night and would love to be able to take great shots. :)

Depends what you want to take pictures of, at night.

In terms of equipment, a tripod and faster lens are most helpful. For stationary objects, a tripod will let you shoot with a slower shutter speed. If you are hand held, you'll need to open up the aperture (smallest possible A setting number), and boost up the iso.

A lot depends on what kind of lens are you using and what you are shooting. We can tell you the direction we'd go in but no one can give you exact settings without being there and there's not really an ideal. There's different approaches and it's about finding what works for you.

I tend to favor Tv mode for night shooting when I'm going hand held with a fast prime lens. I'll use the slowest shutter speed I can get away with then bump up the ISO as needed.

Like the others indicated, you will need a tripod for the long exposure stationary scenes.

As others have noted, get a tripod. Next, get a remote shutter release. Using the 2 second self timer works ok but gets old after awhile. I use the cameras internal meter, usually in A mode and set to f/8 for maximum sharpness. The meter is often pretty good at getting close to a good exposure.

Bracket the exposure to improve your chances of getting one you like (AEB in Canon-speak). Most Canons will only take three exposures this way, try 0, +2, -2. These can also be used for HDR later so save all three.
