According to the person i spoke to today - buying shares through selftrade means that my shares would be held in a nominee account and therefore the share register would not have my name on, but the name of the nominee account.
So if i wanted to join the shareholders club i might have trouble becasue Disney will want proof of my share ownership and the shares register will not show my name.

he went on to say that Selftrade could provide with me a letter on headed paper, detailing that I purchases 500 EUD shares form them/via them and then I would have to cross my fingers that this letter would be acceptable enough for disney to let me join the shareholders club.

It all sounds a bit hit and miss and rather alarming!

What if i bought the shares and then the club wouldnt accept this letter from selftrade? It would have been an utter waste of money.

Has anyone else had this experience of selftrade?
How do i get round it?
Any other companies out there i could buy the shares from instead?

thanks in advance

I used Self Trade, (it was named something different when I did it)

When I purchased the shares, I just emailed the contract note to the club that gets emailed to you when you order the shares.

The shareholders club were happy with this, I think the only benifit of holiding them in your own name rather then nominee is the ability to vote on issues or attend AGMs.

Square again works, just make sure they charge you the correct amount. They made a mistake for me and tried to charge £0.12 instead of €0.12.

You should be fine though.

I bought mine with selftrade in October and just printed the contract note from the internet and sent that with my application

Didn't have any problems at all.

If you do want them in your own name and then a share certificate then I think this costs more in admin costs :confused3

Good luck

I also just sent a copy of the contract note and had no problems

I tried to get the share certificate but as it is an overseas share Selftrade could not get hold of it.

I did the same with no problems :)

:goodvibes I faxed the statement saying I'd bought the shares and had no problem with my application. In fact I had my membership pack within 3 weeks.

DLP isnt making a profit yet - so i dont suppose your shares will bring dividens or rise in value for years yet. We bought ours soley for the shareholder privellidges and discounts.

If you were hoping that the shares might be an investment, I've got some bad news! :goodvibes

But seriously, they cost pennies and it's the perks that are the important bit. If they ever increase in value, consider it an added bonus.

   Yay! Bought my 500 shares yesterday through Selftrade. First time I've ever owned shares........ and in Disneyland as well. :cool1:

I particularly enjoyed announcing at work that I had to leave in time because I wanted to ring my broker before the Paris stock exchange closed for the night. Sounded so swish.:lmao: Had to admit to them I was only buying a handful of very very very cheap shares.

I had already given up hope that we could own shares in the USA. You cannot imagine my surprise when I checked my TD Ameritrade account today and saw that I was the proud owner of 2000 shares of Euro Disney SCA. Of course, the value had already dropped $20.00, but that should change soon, right?

In any course, I immediately filled out my form to the Shareholders Club with my proof of purchase and faxed it to them. I hope they accept the confirmation and that we receive our card in time for our trip in October.

BTW ... I say I am a shareholder (again) because I had purchased some shares back in 1992 before the shares plummeted to the price that they are now.

Great news on getting your shares. I imagine they may make it to $21.00 with the increased park attendance ;) So we'll get a dividend in 2307 :rotfl:
