I've asked for prayers before *Update pg. 8/post 107*

Liz, I am so sorry to hear about this

I will absolutly keep Laura in my prayers everyday. Please keep us posted on how she is doing and how you are doing also. Take care of yourself, I know that will be hard. I will keep you in my prayers also.

God Bless you all in these hard times :grouphug:

They sent us home. When we got to the hospital they said they figured out a way for her to have the IV treatments at home. They didn't like her being in the hospital exposed to so many germs. So she has the IV in her arm and a home health nurse is coming in tonight, tomorrow and Saturday to administer the meds.

We are so tired. Stuff like this is emotionally exhausting.

Kitty, you are amazing. Prayers for you that you may continue to do well. Its so nice to read your perspective since you've been through it. But it scares me as well. Her first IV dose will be in about 90 minutes. :scared:

Liz, don't be scared hun, she will be fine. I am glad they can do it at home! I was in a private room, and everyone had to put on gowns & mask. Nothing like being home. Make sure she drinks lots of water and gets the rest her body needs during this time, and please know it will take some time. I can not wait to see a pic of your DD in her Prom dress! Liz, there is a new test out called Immune Cell Function test, talk to your transplant docs about this. I am getting ready to get it done, it is a simple blood test, however it can tell them so much about her meds, etc. A great breakthrough for transplant patients!

I have been thinking about you and your daughter. I'll continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm sure she'll be happier being at home. I always found that it's impossible to rest in the hospital, with the pages, and the constant monitoring. I hope all goes well and that you can all get back to normal! :sunny:

Liz,

I was just sitting here thinking about Laura. Do you have an update?

Hi! Laura is doing well, as far as I can tell. She goes back in Monday for labs because her last ones showed potassium too high and something with her kidneys not quite right. Wednesday is our next big day when she has another biopsy.

Its so hard to believe she's as sick as they say because she hasn't had any outward symptoms of anything wrong. With the exception of maybe being a little more tired, she looks and acts totally normal. The doctors say they would be much more worried if her heart function was bad. They also said it would be "very rare" for her next biopsy to be bad after taking the oral and IV meds. But we've been on the wrong side of "very rare" a couple of other times with her so that doesn't give me a lot of comfort.

Thanks so much for everyone's prayers and concern. I will certainly update after Wednesday with hopefully very good news!!!

GOOD NEWS!!!!!

We got good news from the latest biopsy! The rejection has gone from severe to mild. The doctors aren't at all concerned about the mild and said some transplant patients live with mild rejection all the time. She can continue to wean down from all the extra meds and go to school on Tuesday for the start of 4th quarter!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the prayers on our behalf!!!

So glad to hear the great news!!! Continued prayers for your family!

Lisa
