Itunes Customer Support Rant

I've never had such an urgent need for my iPod that a 24hr turn around time on an email response wasn't good enough.

If the problem was fixed within 24 hours, but it wasn't. I've just been exchanging emails with them for 3 days. From someone who works in customer support, there's simply no excuse for that.

No one's loss but theirs. I've just been downloading songs from other sites. Bit more inconvenient, but I figured out how to get them on my ipod.

Sounds to me like there is some sort of operator error going on here. First, your iTunes is messed up, then your iPod? Did you yank the cord from the iPod before it said that it was safe?

Here's to hoping you get a "miraculous" response from Apple including lots of free stuff and accomadations! You always seem to come out better than before the catastrophe! :thumbsup2

First answer - No.

Second part, I don't quite follow you on. Sounds like some sort of a dig at me, but can't be too sure. Whatever.

I wish iTunes hadn't been working at my house this weekend. My daughter and I were setting up her new Nano, and I am several albums poorer.

obviously, you don't have to download content from ITunes for your iPod. I can rip a DVD using Handbrake and watch it on the video iPod. there are plenty of places to download mp3's from. that's where iTunes is intuitive, it scans your latest downloads and automatically imports them into your library.

it does seem odd though that others of us have had zero issues with itunes over the same period. If the problem was with itunes, wouldn't we all have had issues?

Consider yourself "lucky" that you always have "miraculous" recoveries after "devistating" catastrophies. Most of us aren't that "lucky!" :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Exactly, why were you paying for these in the first place? The iTunes store is a rip off.

Correct. That is why I said that it must be an operator error; he's obviously doing something wrong. ::yes::

Not everyone is having issues. Just certain computers/accounts. Very few softwares have universal bugs that show up on every different machine.

I don't even know what you're talking about in that first paragraph. I'm not in the 4th grade anymore, so I'll let you have your fun on your own.

As for the 2nd part, it is not an operator error. I work at a software company. I'm not Bill Gates, but I know how to run basic programs. If you look on the itunes discussions forums, there are several threads about issues this weekend. I'm not getting error messages. I'm getting an account cannot be recognized message. That's a programming error on Apple's part reading my account information.

My statements were compliments and good wishes. In turn, you take them and twist them into something they clearly aren't. FYI, I'm not in the fourth grade either. Nobody is having "fun" as you say.

I'd imagine you must say "Have A Nice Day!" a lot with an attitude like that. No wonder!

Um....er, OK.

Where's the Twilight Zone smilie when you need one?

You seem to be really unlucky.

You seem to be really unlucky.

I'm one of the luckiest people I know. Great job. Beautiful wife. Beautiful kids. No more problems than the next Average Joe.

Only on the DIS could an Itunes Customer Support thread turn into a "let's drudge up old posts by the OP" discussion.

I agree. It seems like at least once a week, something is going wrong.

Perhaps if you don't like people bringing up other stuff you should limit what you post. I mean, if you get upset over people mentioning what you have posted previously, you might want to censor yourself. :) Just a thought.

Whatever.

Here is the latest reply I got from Itunes:

"I understand that you are still receiving an error that your account is
"Temporarily Unavailable". At this time we would like to further test your
account, please reply to this email with the following information:

1) For security purposes, the billing address listed on the account for
verification
2) Permission to test the account

Once you respond with this information, we will investigate the issue and reply
to you within 72 business hours.

Thank you for being an iTunes Store customer. Have a good day!"

As I said in return, take your time. No emergency. The only ones losing out is Apple.

OK, so let me get this straight:

Because of older threads I posted, I shouldn't be allowed to discuss freely my experience with Itunes Customer Support on the DIS community forum without certain people bringing up old posts they didn't agree with me on and trying to make me feel bad?

In other words, I limit what I say, as opposed to others limiting their insulting posts?

How about this - Instead, why can't those people stay on topic and not drudge up past threads and just be polite?

Just a thought.:)

You can discuss your experience, but you have to realize that people may bring up old threads (for whatever reason).

Why would you feel bad? You made the decision to post the older threads, as well as current ones. If you don't want people to comment on you, then you shouldn't open yourself up to that.

Maybe people shouldn't bring up past topics, but they can. You can: 1.) don't post personal topics or 2.) ignore people

The choice is yours, but you shouldn't fault others. :)

Whatever.

72 business hours is not 3 days.

True.

The guy who posted that comment about in this day and age online support MUST be more immediate was dead on. Some business take the "make a million dollars by losing 10% of our customers" approach. Works for some.

Maybe what they were eluding to is that it seems a majority of your posts are problems and rants about various products, situations, etc. So it comes across as what I would call Eeyore syndrome. You know, that black cloud that hovers about him all the time and nothing good ever happens, only the doom and gloom.

Truhfully I can't recall any "fluff" threads from you, just threads in which you are upset over something or another. Those tend to be more memorable to people than those who post on a whole bunch of things, good and bad.

Of course that's just my humble opinion.

Wow - You don't agree with me?

SHOCKING!

Hey, whatever. I'm not turning this into a personal bashing thread. Others are. I'm a happy-go-lucky guy. You wanna know some of my happy stuff:

I have a beautiful wife. Beautiful children. Great job. I love Disney World. I love Bon Jovi. Howard Hughes is my hero. I love my parents. I love football. I love baseball. I love the sound of thunder.

Honestly, I could care less about what people think of such things. I post about everyday annoyances to vent, get my frustrations out, etc. I find it therapeutic. What can I say? Plenty of people do it on here. I rub a select few the wrong way and they follow me from thread to thread and make insulting remarks. Whatever. Lots of people I don't agree with about certain issues they post about. However, I'm proud to say, I don't follow their threads with the sole intent of harassing them.
