Its "your" birthday?

I have the same dilemma, so I'm so glad someone else raised the issue. My birthday is the last Sunday we're there and I would really like to have a cake or balloons or something, but I feel geeky doing it for myself. Maybe getting the TA to do it is the answer...

Go for it and tell them it's your day. As mom's we need some special attention as well. I'm a single mom, so if I don't do it, no one will.

I had two b-day meals - one planned the weekend prior to my birthday at 'Ohanas, and a spur of the moment dinner at CP on my actual day. It was fun being treated a little special - birthday card, lei and choc chip muffin birthday treat at 'Ohana, and at MK on my birthday I proudly wore my pin. CMs really keep an eye out for those pins - I don't think one passed me that did not say Happy Birthday! I had a streamer and Mickey Head confetti on the table at CP when we arrived, they gave me a signed card and cupcake, and sang Happy Birthday as well!

I am counting myself lucky as my sister is a planner too and even though I made the ADRs, she made sure that it was noted that it was my b-day at Chef Mickeys last summer. Then she suprised me with a birthday WISHES cruise from the Poly complete with balloons and the most delicious chocolate birthday cake I have ever had.

:sunny: Thanks for all the responses. I really thought I was the only one with this problem. I have gotten the button before on my birthday but aside from the greetings, I have not gotten a cake, or cupcake. One year I did have my parents order one from home for the room, (poly) but that still didn't spur sis on to anything. I feel much better now marking it on the ressies. We are planning Magic kingdom for my b-day, and liberty tree tavern for dinner. :wizard:

Thanks again, Mky simba:

I just went through this same thing! I told DH he might have to call and do it, but I ended up doing it anyway. The key is getting one of those great CMs on the phone that gets excited with you about things. The lady I talked to was great and made me feel at ease. I actually called to change ADRs about 5 times before I got her and was able to add the birthday notation to our ADRs.

Since my birthday is in mid-June, I will most likely NEVER go to WDW on my birthday. :( However, if I did, I would definitely plan something and get the b-day badge to wear. :thumbsup2

It's not just planning your birthday, it's reminding about Mother's Day, Valentines Day, and Christmas!

Have a fun bday at LTT. It is a festive place to celebrate...
I celebrated my bday at LTT a few years ago. They decorated the table with "Pixie Dust" and brougt me a card signed by Minnie and the gang. They also brought a candle in my desert. It was a nice surprise. Dh mentioned it when we checked in for our PS. I was really surprised! ;)

I've never had problems telling the CM's while making reservations that it's my birthday - but I usually get a little embarrassed when I get to the restaurant!

I tend to work telling the CM's into the conversations when making AR's and room reservations usually starting with something simple like "I'm so excited to spend my 6th birthday with Mickey!" It's fun, everyone thinks I'm a little nuts and I'm always in the single digits!

And don't worry about getting your own birthday button. I do every year (My DH gets annoyed if I ask him to get me a button)

Skip on over to guest relations and announce I'm 4 (or whatever) today can I have a birthday button? have a big smile and enjoy it! Sometime during the day you might get a phone call from Goofy!

On our Feb trip the CM on startours spotted 3 people wearing buttons on line and after loading the ride asked their names and led everyone in singing happy bday to them, then she handed out bday cards! It was really nice and completely unexpected.

;) I have heard it said before " If you want something done right do it yourself"
So make your plans jsut the way you want them and don't think twice about it. I alway make my own b-day get away and take my dh with. :rolleyes1 If I left it up to him I would not get a getaway :rotfl2:

Yes, I'm the planner and we are going for my 30th on Sunday. I made my husband call for our ADR at Citrico's. I am hoping that he ordered the slipper dessert for me. I have mentioned it several times. I bet he forgot. I bet he forgot to tell CRO that it was my bday too. I fell stupid telling people it's my bday because it's not as fun and special when you have to do it yourself.

Call them back and make sure the have your b-day noted and that you want the slipper dessert. I'm dreaming up plans for my 4oth (12-07). Most of the time I could care less about my birthday but a special trip to Disney for you b-day CELEBRATE! :woohoo: Please don't feel silly or wait around for your DH...Plan...call....have fun!
