me and dw have been umming and ahhhing over the last week, as where to stay for our september 06 trip. My preference is the wilderness lodge as i want a bit more luxury and more of a resort feel. DWs preference is port orleans, because its cheaper and a safe bet as we have stayed here before. We have both agreed to submit this poll, and which ever resort gets the most votes is where we will stay for 2 weeks with the kids. (14 months 6 and 8)

I'm afraid of the two I'd have to say PO - WL is too gloomy for me.

The Wilderness Lodge, the kids will love it. We have stayed at both locations and loved them both, but if I had the choice it would have to be the WL.

Much more for the kids to do, great pool and wet play area (for little ones), a beach, 'find the hidden mickey's hunt', water pagent, old faithfull (what ever its called), MK a boat ride away and the Wilderness Camp ground and the activities it has to offer is a short boat ride or woodland walk away.

Yep!! it would be WL for me.

Another vote for WL its a fantastic hotel. PO is nice too but I think WL is better suited to the kids!

If you can stretch to it money wise then WL is great - wonderful atmosphere, great restaurants, good pool and fun boat ride to MK.

NO WAY IS IT GLOOMY!!!!

My family absolutely LOVES WL. The whole replicating of the Great PACIFIC NORTH WEST is fabulous. The giant fireplace with actual stones from the Grand Canyon...wow, jsut breathe-taking. We have stayed there TWICE. Once in the Fall/AWESOME and once at Christmas/SPECTACULAR!!!

You can see the water parade from quite a few of the rooms. The geyser is neat. The restaurants are wonderful, our fav Whispering Canyon....

Man, I would give anything to stay there for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!!!

OP: Can you guess if I like WL or not....????

I thought that, on our first trip to WDW we had dinner at AP and if you read my trippie I said exactly that. Last year we stayed at the villas and I loved it, can't wait to go back

I know what you mean about the WL being Gloomy

Dark and Rustic is really a better description - I go to WDW for sun and warmth - to feel like I am on vacation in Florida = I don't feel that when I am at the WL - I feel like I am in the mountains at a villa -

if you like camping and that sort of feel - WL is perfect - if not - then I would go with POR

My vote went to Wilderness Lodge ~ We stayed there the first time we went to Disney and it was lovely.

I've never stayed at either but out of those two options I would certainly choose WL. It seems more "Disney" to me in theming and has excellent transportation to Magic Kingdom. Plus the rooms and beds are bigger and the dining options are much better than at Port Orleans.

I voted for WL
but i know DH would vote for PORS for all the same reasons as your DH MEN
at the moment we are booked into PORS ,but things might change if some good codes come out

Have you thaught about staying a week in each , changing rooms from one resort to another is so easy
all you do is pack your bags call the front desk and they will send some lovely CM to pick up your bags for you and take them to your next resort
then you go and enjoy your day
when you check into the next resort in the afternoon your bags will be there waiting for you another lovely CM will take them up to your room for you
How easy is that
and it feels like you are starting your holiday all over again

We done this last year ,
this year we are stopping in New York and then the secert cruise and then WDW so will be doing enought packing and unpacking with out changing hotels
But never say never
with me plans can Change

I went for WL but only because I'M NOT PAYING
if it was me I'd probably split the stay. I was looking at POR for this year but have stuck at ASMo so more spendies!

Our choice is Wilderness Lodge - well we do own points at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge . Our choice if we have to pay real money, would be Dixe Landings (Port Orleans Riverside) as we've stayed there three times and the theme is fantastic.

Wilderness lodge is a great resort, you can take the boat over to MK and great for te kids, also more food choices and a Geyser!

I've stayed at both and have to say that Wilderness Lodge wins hands down. Nicer rooms, direct boat to the Magic Kingdom, much better restaurants, beautiful sandy beach.....the list goes on and on.

Take the plunge and stay at the Wilderness Lodge. You won't regret it.

On the other hand, you could always stay for one week at PO and the other at WL (or the other way round!!)

If money's no object, then WL wins for me - I love it there (and own DVC points there )

... however, I don't think it's worth the extra $$$s for two weeks unless you plan to spend a lot of time in the resort. POR is a great resort too

I agree with the suggestion to split the holiday and stay in both - but do POR first and look forward to the luxury WL splurge at the end of the trip The actual moving between resorts is made sooooo easy for you, if you can cope with packing evrything up!
