It looks like, according to news articles, that GE/NBC has won the bidding to buy Vivendi's U.S. entertainment assets (including theme parks). The agreement of the deal is that GE/NBC will own 80% and Vivendi will own 20%.
That poses the question, what do you think will happen to the Universal Parks now that GE/NBC has 80% ownership?
ADP

If they're smart, they'll build the JP Flyer, or the B&M 4d on the land next to Rip Saw Falls.

Six Flags won't be doing anything for two years. Quote from Screamscape,
CEO Kieran Burke said that Six Flags will be cutting costs and forgo many new rides and capital projects “for a year or two, until the economy begins to recover.”

This is a great time for IOA to put in a thrill ride since SF is laying low, Disney takes years to build Everest, and CP will take a break next year.

And just last year, Burke said attendance was down at the major SF parks because they didn't add thrill rides. Now the dude does a complete 180. Duh? It's because their rides we're cookie cutter versions of what could have been.

I've heard rumors that they may have to get rid of more shows at Universal...but it's just a rumor and hopefully NOT true...:(

But yeah, I've heard GE was getting ownership of Universal too. I hope this only makes room for improvements...

Where did you hear that??????

I hope they don't take away, but definitely add!!!!

There's this one girl who visits Universal at least every weekend (she lives within a couple miles from the parks). She knows many people at Universal...and is especially close to performers of shows (like one in particular...grrr....green with envy here...hehe). But she said she heard many shows may close. She said she didn't know for sure but was told some things.

But, since she doesn't work for Universal, only knows people who do, maybe she's just trying to scare me ;) At least, I hope that's all...I guess we'll just see what happens...

but if they close the Ghostbusters show, I don't want to be around when Fly Fly is told.....:p

lol...yeah, I'd go insane...in fact that is one of the shows the girl mentioned...I about had a heart attack :(

Though I probably wouldn't react like you'd imagine...especially since I'm very soft-spoken and shy. :o

But I won't be dancing for joy, that's for sure...

Fly Fly, when I worked for Universal I had orientation with a group of 4/5 young guys who were hired for the Ghostbusters show. This was around this time last year.

I no longer work for Universal, I couldn't hack the long drive to work and the heat. I found me a nice air conditioned job. :jester:

I don't know why I felt the need to divulge this useless information, but there it be. LOL

ohhh@ lucky lucky!!! I e-mailed someone who is supposedly a Ghostbuster performer...for an interview...hopefully...no reply yet, but if I don't get one, I may ask another guy...if I even have the guts. Could you imagine??? Interviews with the Ghostbuster guys!!!!

*THUD*

BTW - why does it seem that every thread somehow...mysteriously turns into a Ghostbusters Show discussion? :p hehehe...

I just hope there are no changes to FOTL when you stay onsite. :p
