Its Tuesday.....AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!

Did anybody else notice the yodelly/vibrato thing going on with Trenyce last night during her second song?....just when we thought that we were done with goat girl! She didn't do it for me last night. Once again, I don't understand the judge's enthusiasm.

I loved Clay's performances last night. Thought the toned down facial expressions were a big step in the right direction!

Ruben continues to delight.

Enjoyed Kimberly. She continues to improve each week.

Josh needs to go home. Not only is he off key, his crabby attitude is wearing thin.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Josh's attitude has been as bad as his performances. Take the criticism with a smile, I cant' stand it when they talk back. He is not in the same league as the others, and I think it's his turn to go home.

I can only pick a bottom 2 for tonight, him and Trenyce. I have no idea who will be the third.

Erika

1 - Clay
2 - Rueben
3 - Trenyce and I normally don't care for her
4 - Kimberly she just wasn't herself this week
5 - Josh I love him -- but this just isn't his place

Guess we'll find out tonite! A One hour show though? What will they do for an entire HOUR?
:D

Did anybody notice how the judges ganged up on Josh. They were very complementary to everyone else and not to Josh. I don't think that they want the "Nikki" situation to happen again. That being said, I agree Josh has got to go. Hate the attitude, the singing stinks, he should have been gone a while ago. I wasn't thrilled with Tenryce either, she's always sings sharp and it's getting on my nerves.

If I had any doubts about his ability, Clay dispelled them last night! He was absolutely wonderful--powerful performances--upbeat, lighthearted fun with Build Me Up Buttercup and soulful, heartfelt, melancholy Solitaire! Such diverse performances from Clay. . .he brought it!

Ruben--I have liked some of his performances and admittedly he has a nice voice for gospel, and Al Green/Pendergast/Vandross-like tunes--he is not multifaceted though. My husband doesn't watch Idol--he heard Ruben last night and his comment was "What key is he singing in?" If "pitchy" was the right word, Ruben was it last night--more so on the first performance. Predictable performances both--arm reaching to the audience and all. . . It's been fun watching this competition progress and seeing the judge's commenting for their "favorites"--Randy so obviously LOVES Ruben. His comment last night seemed rather odd--"For me, you've already won this competition".

Kimberly was better on . . .Grapevine than I think she was given credit for. Maybe because the song is so identifiable? Her performances were both solid--if not inspired.

Trenyce and Josh--interchangeable. I really didn't get that Trenyce did a better job than Josh--just different. It's comparing apples to oranges and the performances should not be compared I guess. In any event, both are out of their league. Admittedly I have never cared for Trenyce--not sure why, it's like Kimberly C--just something about her. I originally liked Josh, but I think the family separation is taking its toll on him--he's become a bit testy and I don't care for his "backtalk"--maybe he thinks it's funny, but I find it plain disrespectful and not in keeping with adult or Marine behavior. One or the other will be gone tonight and it really doesn't matter which because the other will go next week barring a "Tamyra"-like mistake by the top 3.

1. CLAY, all the way!
2. Kim
3. Ruben
4. Trenyce &/or Josh--tied.

Looking forward to tonight--I'm sure we'll be treated to some more "group" sings--not that I care much for those. Do you think they will do a bottom 3 at this stage? I just can't remember what they did last year at this juncture.

Because it kept being mentioned here, I now get very distracted whenever Ruben sings because of that hand reaching thing. Why is it they jumped all over Clay for facial expressions, not dancing, not changing his style... when Ruben does the same thing week after week. I also thought he was slightly off key ("pitchy") at some points in the first song.

I think Joshua has completely lost his confidence and that's why his face is so glum - he knows he's going soon.

I think Trenyce keeps improving and Kimberly L is still a bit inconsistent. I thought her "Grapevine" was not all that good.

Clay's "Solitaire" inspired me.

First off - I'm eating my words about the whole Neil Sedaka thing. Yesterday I predicted that this would be a fiasco. I was WRONG! I think it was a great show!

Here's my countdown (best to worst) for last night...

1. Clay did an EXCELLENT job. I often flip-flop him and Ruben around and think that they are equally talented, but Clay simply shone last night. His rendition of "Solitaire" was nothing but MOVING!!!!

2. I was VERY IMPRESSED with Trenyce last night, and that's really saying something because I have *NEVER* been impressed with her in the past! (The whole Whitney Houston/Diana Ross/DIVA thing is just lost on me.) Last night she showed she could do more!! She was having fun. She looked and sounded terrific.

3. Ruben didn't hurt himself last night, but I don't think he helped himself either. He was good, but I don't think he was outstanding.

4. Kimberley's second song was WAY better than her first one. Again, she was good - but not as outstanding as she has been in the past.

5. Poor Josh. One of my favorites from the start. I can't help but think that he's not happy being there anymore. It looks like there's something else going on(?) Tension? Discomfort? Maybe he's just ready to get back to his wife and baby? I think there's no doubt that he should be the one to go this week.:(

Clay was awesome last night! He and Ruben should definitely be the final two....for lack of a better person, I guess Kim should be 3. I didn't read all the posts here, but did Simon say Trenyce reminded him of a drag queen? So funny! She's terrible....her and Josh should tie for being the bottom two and both be gone tonite, with Kim following them out the door.

I wish that Trenyce would STOP TAPPING THE MICROPHONE. It annoys the heck out of me. I think that (what I saw of) last night's show was excellent. I think that Josh was at a disadvantage due to the style of Neil Sedaka's music.

Trenyce. A drag queen. You hit the nail on the head. :teeth:

to feeling a little misty-eyed when Clay sang "Solitaire"? I can see why they put it last, it was so moving. I agreed with Simon (scary) that Reuben is either happy or scared looking, he just seems to be a very "simple" person, whereas Clay really seems thoughtful and insightful, and that comes out in his singing. As Simon said (once again!), Clay takes the judges comments to heart and learns from them.

He did a great job on Buttercup. He actually moved around. I liked both songs.

Ruben did a decent job too. I think they should say something about his predictability in performance though. Did anyone else notice all of the weight related comments geared toward him tonight?

Poor Josh, I've loved him from the start, but you can definately tell he's ready to leave. I think there is more going on behind the scenes than we know about. I happen to think he's done a great job biting his tongue where Colin is concerned. He's pretty much taking the heat like RJ did last year from him. I hate to admit it, but I think it's time for him to go soon.

Trenyce I used to think was ok, now I just can't tolerate her. I about fell out of my chair laughing when Colin said she gave a drag queen performance! When Ryan mentioned the Olive Oil, I swear I thought he was talking about her image. I thought she sounded gawd awful last night. She ruined one of my all time favorite songs. (Love will keep us together)

I really didn't like the way Kim sang Grapevine, but she still has a great voice. I thought she was excellent during Where the boys are though.

I agree with just about everybody. Clay was outstanding last night. I really like Ruben, but he is getting so predictable. Clay is criticized for not dancing around, yet Ruben isn't. I think Randy has made up his mind that he wants Ruben to won, and his comments won't change no matter how Ruben performs.

Kimberley Locke is ok, but I think she always starts her song out off key or something. She does eventually hit her stride, but she does have problems that the judges never address.

Josh, as much as I like him, is just not doing well. Once the judges started telling him he'll never win he seemed to lose confidence and his performance shows it.

Trenyce has never been a favorite of mine, so she can leave at any time now. :D

I got a giggle out of this. I think you're mixing up Colin Powell with Simon Cowell. One's the Secretary of Defense - the other should be named the Secretary of Offense!! :teeth: :jester:

I think Josh will be the one going tonight, I too, think he is anxios to get back to his wife and child. Its a shame, because he does have talent...and I think he knows he is going to go, so do NOT look for him to be surprised.:o Trenyce definitely will be the NEXT to go, as she does NOTHING for me! I think the final 3 will be Kimberly, Clay and Rueben.;)

HA!!!!! HA!!!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!:D

I too wondered about who "Colin" was for a minute in GoofieRuthie's post and then realized it was "Simon," but did NOT make the connection that you did, CookieGVB! Too funny!

I've loved CLAY from the beginning and last night summed it up, no matter who wins ...CLAY has the best voice.... I think whoever said about randy having his mind made up is right, he wants ruben to win....he has a good voice but he is so boring to watch, that arm bugs the heck out of me...tonights show starts at 8 not 8:30...just want to say that I'll miss josh, but after last night it is deffinetly time for him to go....i dont think they will do bottom 3 tonight, it may be just the bottom 2...cant remember from last year! my pick for bottom 2 josh:( and trnyce....

I know a lot of you didn't like Carmen, but I keep thinking of the way she handled the judges criticism compared to the way Josh is handling it. I used to like Josh but that is turning me off big time and will wave bye bye when he goes.

The View "Hot Topics" discussed AI as they do every week. The ladies who watch felt Josh was a goner too. They also felt Ruben was the best. They were a bit miffed about the comments regarding his weight. Guess they didn't pay much attention to the prior weight comments made to Vanessa and Josh. It must have been okay to bash these two about their minimally overweight conditions.

Star Jones in particular is a major Ruben fanatic while Joy says he sounds like Barry White and all Barry did was talk forever. Star's comment was "It's American Idol, not Broadway Idol"--she didn't mention any names though. To hear them talk the only contestant is Ruben. I'm sure Kim & Clay would have something to say about that. . .if you're going to discuss a show, discuss all aspects, not just one person!

Anyway, just one of those times I felt like talkin' back to the TV! Nowhere in the title does it say "POP" Idol; American or otherwise. As for Ruben being more "commercial", I don't think a 12-16 y/o will be buying his records either.

carmen was on david letterman last night...she did the top 10...:p
