Hi. Just back from a wonderful week at WDW with Free Dining. Did the big family trip - 10 adults (4 grandparents) and 5 kids. I was in charge of all the planning and reservations. Here are some brief reviews:
Day 1 - Tony's Town Square - Food was OK, not great, but really LOVED this meal as we ate out on the porch while the parade was going through. Overall GREAT experience and great service.
Day 2 - Cape May Clam Bake - I have done this before, one of my faves and continues to be so. Loved the clams and crab legs, corn bread and the beef was excellent. I think this was one of the top 2 meals if you asked all 15 in my party to rank them. I don't think anyone was diappointed.
Day 3 - LeCllier - Lunch to keep it to 1 credit. This was the other one in the top 2 for the entire group. Can't go wrong here. I got the burger - which I didn't think I would get there ever, but I wasn't hungry for more. ANyway - possibly the BEST burger I've ever had.
Day 4 - The Plaza at MK - LOVED IT. ONe of my new faves. Only minor issue was that the group was split up and one of our servers allowed kids to get milkshakes using dining plan as their beverage - and the other server wasn't allowing it. We mentioned that others in our group were getting this and our server did allow the kids to get them - but as dessert. Which was fine in the end because no one was hungry enough for dessert. But the other 2 tables in our group WERE allowed to order dessert too. I got the chicken sandwich and it was really, REALLY good. We will go here again and also will pay for it when not on free dining.
Day 5 - For the boys it was Garden Grill at EPCOT; for Girls it was Akershus princess meal. Both were wonderful. Garden Grill was a HUGE hit with the guys and 2 of the kids deemed it their favorite restaurant in WDW. Men loved the food. Very good experience. At Akershus it was good food, great character experience - and the 'free' picture package is a bonus. My sister and mom are very picky - they ordered off the kids menu here. Keep that in mind if you want the experience but not the food.
Day 6 - Donald's Breakfast in AK - All 15 really enjoyed this meal. There was something for everyone and no one was disappointed.
Dinner was Wolfgang Puck Cafe and I have to say that I am sorry that our last meal was SO disappointing. This used to be one of my faves - but it is now off that list. First of all - they changed the menu since we were there in August (no more macademia crusted chicken along with several others) - it is much more limited. Also - likely do the size of our group - but a couple orders were messed up and several dishes were VERY cold when received. The service was great and we still tipped well - It just was not as great as I had anticipated since I used to love it there.
For CS places - the favorites are:
DHS
Fairfax Fare - HUGE raves from my group for the chicken and ribs and pulled pork.
Starring Rolls - I got a HUGE turkey sandwich and cheese danish - DELISH! Will definitely be going here for a cs again.
EPCOT:
Mexico CS (a favorite)
Sommerfest in Germany - Bratworst was a fave for my BIL
And for snacks the overwhelming favorite for everyone was Fountainview Cafe in EPCOT - the sundaes in the waffle bowls were amazing! Also Main St. Bakery for cinamon loaf.
