It's Tough to Be a Bug: Too intense for your kids?

My almost 5-yo hated it and we left partway through (right after it sprayed water on him), but the 2-yo loved it and went twice. Not sure how that happened?

I agree with the water spraying issue..............My 5 and 2-yo's were terrified to begin with but could handle it, until they got "spit on". Then, there I was, hauling a screaming 2 year old and a freaked out 5 year old through the pitch black theater tromping on everyones feet as we went.............

My son did fine at almost 2 1/2 and then the next time at 5 no problems. I always stress going into things that it is all Disney make-believe and is not real. Haven't had a problem with any of the kids on any of the rides. Fantasmic was a bit loud for him at 2 1/2 but we just covered his ears.

If they are afraid of the poke just have them sit forward in their seat and they will hardly if even feel it.

Kids!!??!! :rotfl2: They did fine, it was ME that had to be escorted out. :rotfl2: I would not recommend it for my worst enemy. Who wants to get stung by a "fake" bee???

My son was 11 when we first saw it. He was terrified of one certain part.
He refused to go back since.

My 7 year old loved TofT and Rockin Roller coaster but Bug and HISTK were terrifying, tears and screams. I guess 3D is too intense sometimes. :3dglasses :scared1:  :scared:  :hmghost:

My fearless two year old who loved Haunted Mansion was scared out of her mind for Tough to be a bug. She was so excited going in and wearing her glasses. The first thing that was "thrown" at you, an acorn I think, just did her in. She torn off her glasses and was burried in my chest for the rest of the show. She was also freaked at Philharmagic.... She didn't like things coming right in her face.

I know what you mean!! I wouldn't sit back in my chair for the rest of the show!! :rotfl2:

I explained to my 4 year old what it was like before we got in line, and he was ok with it. He enjoyed the show, and even asked to go right back in after the first viewing....but when we went back this past weekend, he was scared to go. :confused3

I think a lot of it IS enjoyable for young kids, but I will admit parts of it made even ME jump the first time I saw it. I can understand that kids may not be able to handle all of it.

DS was 6 the first time he saw it and he hated it! It did scare him, especially the end, (which I won't describe in deference to those who haven't gone yet). We didn't get him back inside until our last trip when he was just weeks from turning 10. This time he laughed, but he still wasn't thrilled with it.

Maybe everyone else on this thread has experienced a different attraction than I have. It's Tough To Be a Bug is fun, cute, and even makes a run at being educational. The bugs are cartoonish and funny. The 3D effects are flashy, but not realistic. Fun looking buggy things drop out of the ceiling and stuff, but they are obviously "Muppet-looking" props.

Some of the pranks of the show get the predictable screams. My favorite ones are the "worms" on your seat and the stingers in the seat backs. It is a really cute show - though it is darker than Muppets 3D or Honey, I Shunk...

My DS experienced It's Tough To Be a Bug at 4 & 5 and didn't have a problem with it. DD (1.5 at the time) saw it last summer, and she liked it too. Her eyes got big at times, but she was never close to being scared.

I think most kids will like this show - unless they are terrified of bugs anyway, scared of the dark, or have a problem separating reality from a show or movie. Ultimately, you know your own children better than we do, so you can make your own choice. We will be there a week from Tuesday with DS(now 6) and DD(now 2) and this attraction is on our must do list. :)
