My boss made us put up the wreaths & tree today at work and I lost the arguement that its too early to decorate!!! I know that it seems all the stores are decorated but what happened to after Thanksgiving. Now I love the holidays, do shopping for the holiday year round, etc. But when I walk into a store the day after Halloween and hear Frosty the Snowman it makes me roll my eyes and after a week of it at work (I work in a mall) I'm ready to scream. How early do you all decorate at home for the upcoming holidays - weather it be Christmas or another holiday?

I agree! I don't like it to early also. The radio stations are playing Christmas music already. Come on don't rush it.

We don't do any decorations until after Thanksgiving.

we use to wait untill after thanksgiving, but since this is my really first christmas with a family of my own, I couldn't wait so I put up my tree already and lights. My 2 yr old just loves it. Next year we will probably be on track again and will wait untill after thanksgiving

The stores are starting to pout up decorations...they want you to start spending money on gifts :guilty:

I am soooo just the opposite! We have had our tree up for a week already..lol I love it! I also love looking at the Christmas decorations inthe stores too. I do not feel like I am rushing it, just taking more time to enjoy my fave part of the year. The holidays come and go so fast that I like taking the extra time to really enjoy them before the rush gets here. Now the outside of my house does stay decorated for fall/Thanksgiving until after Thanksgiving but soon as you step inside it is Christmas..lol :) I will do the outside for Christmas Thanksgiving night or the day after.

I love it early!! Have my kids Christmas trees in their rooms already. Been playing the Polar Express Cd and Disney princess Christmas Cd. Kids are having their Christmas card photo taken on Tuesday and the address labels have all been printed.

I'm glad it's coming earlier these days. My family and I can't get enough. It's a lot of work putting up all the decorations for just four weeks. Every January I always claim that next year I'm going to get an earlier start and enjoy it more right from the start! I'm sticking to my plan.

It's such a magical time why not make it a little longer? We've got a long. cold winter ahead here where we live so let's do it up now and have some fun!

I love it early, too! I very much enjoy Thanksgiving, and what it represents, but I don't think it hurts to start getting into the Christmas 'spirit' before Thanksgiving. To me, it just gives me more time to celebrate and enjoy what the whole season is all about. :goodvibes

We put the tree for our kitchen yesterday. Kept my 8 year old occupied for a couple of hours. I'm loving typing by Christmas Tree lights!

Agreed-this coming weekend is family decorating weekend-usually it is the weekend after trick or treat but we decided to wait here since it has been too warm to get into the spirit.

Anything after the weekend after Thanksgiving is too late-why go through the effort of decorating if it is only going to be shown for a few weeks?

I'll be putting our tree up this weekend. I have found that I love having it up the week before Thanksgiving. It gives me more time to enjoy the Christmas holiday!

My Dh and I did get out in the yard and string the lights on our Spruce trees yesterday. We'll connect them to extension cords and start lighting them after Thanksgiving, however. I agree that it's a bit early, but depending on how much there is to do, you might start doing it gradually. I'm doing it bit by bit so that I don't get too tired out! I think once some of the stores start decorating, they all join in! :rolleyes2

I feel that the holiday season starts with Thanksgiving.

The retailers seem to think it starts with 4th of July.

"What we have here is a failure to communicate".

Not too early for us. We have the two family room trees decorated and now will work on the living room tree. We put more decoration some years and less other years. It depends on our schedules. I also like each years decorating to look different. We hope to complete our decorating this weekend both inside and out.

I could not have said it better. I agree with you 100%.

Any Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving are too early in my eyes. I usually start decorating day after Thanksgiving only because kids are begging me to start but the tree doesn’t go up till 2 weeks before Christmas and comes down the day after along with the rest of decorations.

Found these lyrics in the song "Believe" from the movie Polar Express:

"There's no time to waste,
There so much to celebrate."

I could not have said it better!!!! :goodvibes
