Ughhh, someone I know, a very educated woman calls it Valentimes Day. It drives me nuts. It's an N not an M!!! :teacher:

So does my 5 year old daughter. I think I saw it in a post title on these boards too! Hopefully just a typo.

I just have to say that improper english drives me nuts! Don't get me wrong, I am guilty of mispronouncing words on occasion, that's ok. But, I CAN"T STAND DOUBLE NEGATIVES!!! I guess it was all those years of my mother correcting my english:rotfl:

Another pet peeve (thanks to dear mom as well): People who chew with thier mouth open:scared:  :scared:

Me too, me too, me too!!!!!! People chewing with their mouths open (including all my in-laws!!!) drive me out of my mind!! Nothing ruins a good meal like the feeling your sharing it with barnyard animals!! :sad2:

And the Valentine thing...hello, people READ the word!!! That's most definitely N not M!!!

Then you won't mind having it pointed out that English is a proper noun and should be capitalized?

LOL:rotfl: My IN-LAWS too:eek: :scared: They all chew with mouths wide open and they use double negatives all the time:headache: I'm just glad DH didn't pick up those bad habits. Although he does sometimes hold his spoon/fork fisted once in a while (I think to drive me:banana: )

My old swim coach was HORRIBLE with the double-negative thing. He was screaming at my friend and I once because we'd been screwing around and not working hard, and he said something like, "Do you not think that wasn't ridiculous?!" I had no idea what answer he was looking for with that, so I guessed and said, "Um, yes?" and then he really lost it.

My chewing-related pet peeve is a variation on yours: I can't stand it when people chew gum with their mouths open or--even worse--crack their gum. Nothing sends me into a rage faster. I just generally don't feel the need to hear people chewing, regardless of what it is; I've about destroyed the mute button on the remote because of Hardee's commercials.

My mom won't listen to ANY commercials now (she's all Mute, all the time  ), because to her, things like people crunching Doritos, slurping soda, or mouth noises of any sort are verboten!!!

DH thinks she's a wing-nut! :rotfl:

Then I'm a wing-nut too! :thumbsup2

We always mute the commercials- can't stand the noise.

That's almost as bad as saying liberry instead of library.....

Or "supposably."

Or "supposably."

This is going to sound horrible but I was almost a teenager before I learned that we washed using "face" cloths. I always pronounced it "faith cloth" I don't know how I got away with that one for so long - glad I finally got it straight though:lmao:

How about people who have samwiches for lunch? What's in those, anyway? :confused3
