It's TINE not TIME...

How about Sectember -- my co-worker used to say that.

My mother always says Costcos instead of just Costco. Drives me nuts! A few others that bug me:

axe instead of ask
why you (instead of why do you or why are you)
happy birtday
crans instead of crayons

Yup! Also, kidnergarden, or kinnygarden. Say what???

Please...my father says "birfday" :confused3

I'm guilty of "sammich" -- but only to be goofy. It's very hard to say SANDwich.

I've read more than heard this one: saying "seems how" instead of "seeing as how," e.g. "Seeing as how we've already got 3 cars, there's no real need for another one." I've also seen "beens how" which I think is supposed to be "being as how," which I don't believe is correct anyway.

Thought of another one! My MIL uses the phrase "I goes" and it makes me cringe! As in, "She asked me what I was doing, and I goes "I'm making dinner"."

Who talks like that?????????:confused3

When I was little, I used to say kiddiegarden. It seemed to make sense back then.... now it's just a family joke but not said in public.

My biggest it supposably. My boss says it ALL the time.
I think technically, it is correct or can be correct depending on context, but still.....

:laundy:

...or "let me axe you a question..."

Oh my goodness. Has anyone has seen the commercial for the lawyer referral line, ASK Gary? The actors say: I got into a car accident! I don't know about you but I'm calling AXE Gary! Ughhhh. I can't believe they PAY people to sound so stupid.

My MIL uses that same phrase:eek: , are you sure we're not related? I'm from Mass too:)

"gone missing" grates on my nerves as well.

This phrase really get to me too. I've seen it a number of times recently in the newspaper or on the internet as a headline; "Little girl gone missing". What?:confused3

A good friend of mine works at the county jail. He has to fill out paperwork concerning the inmates. He said almost daily someone says to him "Let me axe you _______". He says to them "You'd be smart not to axe anyone around here." He said they stare at him blankly because they just don't get it. :rotfl:

"near miss"....as in "two planes had a near miss at the airport." How do you nearly miss something? "Near hit", though a grammatical nightmare, would make more sense.
