Back from classes, caught up on posts, so now I can answer this.
So far, I'm *very* impressed. This is worlds better than what I was taking the past three semesters. I think changing degrees is going to prove to be very worthwhile.

Maybe not as much in job advancement opportunities, but very much worthwhile in personal enjoyment.
Let's see... first class was the web graphics class. Fairly basic stuff tonight, pretty much introductions and just getting everyone set up with their user accounts and that kind of stuff. Gave us the basic class plan and all that. As I expected, at least the first half of the class is going to be very basic and so -- dull isn't the right word because I enjoy graphics even though they're basic stuff, but it won't be challenging.
Ahh, but this prof won't let the three of us who are "expert" in this already get away with having a boring semester.

We're to set our *own* goals and stuff for the class, attend the discussions, but we'll be getting specialized exercises that will actually help us improve our knowledge so we aren't just repeating what we already know. First time I've been in a class where the instructor has *really* done that before. She's going to make this class worthwhile, even at our levels.
Second class, the independant study, "met" right after the first and was really just a 15 minute meeting in which the prof said *yes*, she expected me to use the web graphics class to develop the graphics for my Ind.Study project, so some of my homework assignments will overlap, which is what I was hoping she'd say.

She also gave me a few books to look through and some very basic instruction. We're basically going to meet for a few minutes every few Thursdays to see where I am, and otherwise communicate via email or meet as needed. She said she's looking forward to seeing what I come up with, and has another prof in another department who is interested as well.
There was one thing *very* odd about tonight, though. Y'all know how once a semester for the past 4 or 5 semesters I've been guest lecturing in DH's beginning web design course, doing the JavaScript lecture? (He's not teaching it this semester though, so I don't get to teach this semester, unless the lady who is teaching it instead asks me to come do it for her, too) Well, I'm now *in* a class with at least 3 students that I've taught in past semesters, and they remembered me. It was a very strange feeling and experience, but at the same time they all seemed very happy to see me in the program.
All in all, I think this is going to be a *great* semester!
