When picking up guests to go to the park, where does the bus stop first? I want to request my building in accordance with where the bus makes the first stop for either AB or the Mansions. Thanks!

Really, theres no set standard. Busses for FQ and R adapt based on needs. Sometimes the bus would come to the FQ and go strait to the park, other times they would stop at R and AB, sometimes they went to Riverside first and then would swing in to FQ.
You really cant go wrong with any of the bus stops at PO- they do a good job, stay based on what you want to be near- pool, river, food court. You'll go nuts trying to figure out if the bus is going to stop at what stop next. You will get to the park in a timely fashion

You absolutely can use both pools. When you receive the Sassagoula Newspaper upon check-in it lists the amenities of both resorts to use.

They are sister resorts and all amenities are available to guests staying at either one.

Excellent!! :cool1:

I thought I was remembering correctly, but couldn't find my Sassagoula Times from April anywhere, LOL!

My middle DS wants to stay at the place that has the dragon pool--well, we are....we just have to take a nice walk along to river to get there ;)

Oh dear- can someone please explain to me the difference between Port Orleans Riverside and FQ? What is the better place for a couple celebrating an anniversary? Best pool? Access to DD & parks? Nicest rooms??? Thanks!

I'd recommend checking out the WDW website (www.disneyworld.com) and researching both resorts. We're staying at POFQ on our next trip. I've never been to either one. I know that POFQ is the smaller of the two, and only has one pool and a food court. POR has a few pools (don't know the exact number), a food court and a sit-down restaurant.

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Old Man Island spa closed for refurbishment 9/6/05-9/23/05.

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Magnolia quiet pool closed for refurbishment 9/15/05-9/24/05.

Bummer :pug:

Do they have sleeping for 5 in the mansions? Or is it only in AB? Stayed at Dixie in '88 and loved AB (specifically AB18) don't have any interest in the mansions.

Hi,

I've searched this thread and found a post from 2003 that said the Mansion section had an iron/ironing board and hair dryer.

We leave in five days!!!!! Of course I've started packing so please can someone confirm that all of these items are standard in all POR rooms?

Thank you so much. I have very long hair and seriously need a hairdryer or it will take me forever to get ready in the am without one.

Also, forgive any typos. I bustefd mt thumb and have to type one-handed.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wave2:

We were there during spring break in March this year, and LOVED POR. We stayed in AB15. Extremely comfortable and freshly renovated rooms.

mickman1962 -- For sure, AB has sleeping accommodations for 5. We noticed the trundle bed in our standard room. My parents though, who stayed in the Mansions for 1 night before being moved to AB, did not have a trundle in their standard room.

Handbag Lady -- Yes, there is an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer in the POR standard rooms.

I have a question about the coffee makers. Do they charge you if you use the coffee machine or only if you use the coffee they provide? Also what type of coffee do they provide?

We will be eating breakfast in our room since we are not big breakfast eaters. A typical breakfast for my is a lowfat cereal bar and a glass of skim milk.

Thanks.

Staying at the POR in December. How is good is Disney about requests? I want to stay in the Magnolia Bend section.

Also any tips for the "best" area in Magnolia?

Thanks!

Well, first- congratulations on your trip and you have picked a wonderful place to stay!
Honestly, putting a request in doesn't mean a whole lot, it's best to call the resort directly precisely 3 days before you check in to make your request. And then check in in the morning if at all possible- let it be the first thing you do and be prepared to go visit a park or something if the room you want isn't ready yet.
Our first trip we made the mistake of giving up what we thought we wanted for something ready before standard check-in- I wish I had waited for our reserved room

As for the room itself, someone with experience staying in that area can help.

Have lots of fun!!

Can you tell me if I can call the resort directly as well, because I went thru a TA. Our requests are on our reservations, but I think only the TA can access thru them right? :confused3

For right now you will have to make requests thru your travel agent, however, once you are 3 days from your arrival date you are free to call yourself.

I used DU and unfortunately CR did not have the room requests I had placed, we still ended up loving the room we got- but I would have preferred to have 1 king instead of 2 beds.
So the 3 day this is key to getting a room you want.

Good morning, I have a question about the food court -- I was looking at the menu on Deb's site.....

Do they have fruit or bagels or cereal for a light breakfast?

Thanks!

They have fruits already packaged. It has the grapes and strawberries with diced cheese. And they sell bananas and apples. If I remember correctly, there's individual cereal boxes. I think they sell bagels too. I am sure someone will let you know on this board. We are not a morning eater

How are the buses from POR? We are going in December (4-10) and wondered how crowded the buses will be. I have requested Mangolia Terrace building#85, and I see that it is close to the east depot. What depot gets picked up first? Should we rent a car or rely on the buses to get us around (we want to check out some of the other resorts and possibly dine there)??

Thanks for any input.

i'm curious to know what the buses are like too. we will be there oct 1-5 and this is our first trip. a friend of mine stayed at por in june and said it took 1 1/2 hrs to get back from the parks and a least an hour to get to the parks. is it always like this?? any advice??
thanks

My DH and I are an older couple married 5 years. We loved POR :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc - we went first time to POFQ and the second time to POR. I love the beautiful landscaping and the quiet serene atmosphere of the place. I actually prefer POR's lush landscaping to the theming at POFQ, but next month I booked us at POFQ because the rooms have been newly refurbished. You would be closer at POR to Boatwright's for a sit down restaurant - and I like the breakfasts there - and you will be closer to the marina. In any case I intend to get into the Mardi Gras theming this time! and I do love the walk from POFQ to POR to catch the boat to DTD. When we stayed at POR we didn't take that walk and it is a lovely one. Anyway I think both are great resorts and recommend them highly! :cheer2:

Hi to all! just booked a land/sea vaca for jan.8-15 will be staying @ the POFQ and was wondering if there is a certain area that would be the best to request? Where can I find a map of the area? How is the transportation from this resort? We will be travelling with kids ages 17,16,15,13,4,1. Will they enjoy it? This will be our 3rd trip to WDW. 1st time we stayed @ AKL with savana view for 5 days;2nd visit we stayed @ allstar-movies for 1 nite post cruise. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Angel :earsgirl:
