I just heard that POR is completely sold out during our intended vacation there. 1/19/08-1/26/08.....eeek!

I orginally tried to book similar dates online but it kept saying there were no rooms available so I called the number. The CM discovered that just one of the days I wanted was totally booked, the 20th. So we pushed our trip from the 24th-30th and we got rooms.

How often and (when) does the boat go to Downtown Disney.

15 days out!

Go Pack!!

Well I am thrilled. We stayed at POR on our first ever trip last January. We are a family of 5 so POR was really our best option. We loved it! Absolutely loved it. However, on this trip, my mom and sis are coming with us so we need two rooms anyway. Thought I'd take this opportunity to stay at CSR since when we come again we will probably have to go back to POR. I was a little sad but thought that it was just because I didn't know how wonderful CSR would be.

Well, we got the Disney Visa package and what.... I couldn't use it at CSR!!!! But... I could switch to POR. I jumped at it! I am so excited to show my mom the boat ride to downtown disney... the beautiful grounds and the gentel way that is POR.

So... my big change is that I requested to be in the mansions instead of AB... that will feel like we got to do something different... but I still get to be HOME.

Jan. 4-12... coming so soon.

Looks like I'll have to reschedule from November to March, so I've booked a POR room with a trundle bed. I thought my kids would like it if they didn't have to share a bed. DS is 16, and DD is 8.

Most of the rave reviews I've seen have been about POFQ, not POR.

Please tell me some good things about POR.

PO Riverside is awesome. Landscaped beautifully, great pool for kids and many quiet ones for adults, table and quick service meals, carriage rides, surrey bikes, boat to downtown disney, did I mention the lush landscaping that feels like a deluxe hotel?, marina for boats)

Here is a picture of ol man island:

We've stayed at POR twice and loooove it. POR is beautiful with many amenities - in fact, it has been called the "deluxe moderate" resort. There is so much to do. :cloud9: I can't even begin to tell you everything we adore about POR. Every member of my family loves it though :)

Does anyone know how much it is to rent one of the "Water Mice" boats at
POR ?

How far can you go down the river ?

I am trying to find some music from POR to use on my slideshow. I can't find any. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you have the need for a separate bed and will not have a room in the AB area, you can get a roll-away bed for your room in the Mansions rooms. Some friends of ours did that on our first stay at POR - they have a DS and DD. So, if you are not able to get a room in the Alligator Bayous rooms, you should still be able to accomodate your kids.

As for rave reviews about POR, we absolutely love it there. I was trying to get my family to try Wilderness Lodge on our next trip and my girls (15 & 8) insisted that we stay at POR again. The grounds are so beautiful - all the bunnies hopping around are charming. I love the walks around the resort - no matter how far you might be from the main pool, etc. It is so beautiful that I like to slow down and take it all in.

We have just booked our holiday for next year at POR! Can't wait. There is one thing though, does anyone know about the fishing?? My dad (who doesn't usually come with us is actually coming this time!) loves to fish, and I noticed you can do it at POR. Do you need to bring your own rods, or can you hire them there? And did I read somewhere about some kind of fishing excursion?

Enjoying this thread--and getting excited about our upcoming trip 1/31-2/5. I showed my 10 yo the above pic of the pool--she wants to know if it we could use it during our trip. Is it heated? And do we need to bring towels?

Lately when we have gone in the cooler months, we have had to beg management every day to please turn on the heat in the pools. The CM's have told us they hold off as long as possible to save money. They usually will heat the main pool before the quiet pools. Last November they finally turned on the heat after 10 days of begging. As for towels, as long as the lifeguards are at the main pool the towel bins have been out. But at the quiet pools we bring towels from our room.

My boys love to fish at POR. You can get poles and bait at the counter and then go fish off the little dock. There is a place to wash your hands off when you are finished. Sorry, I do not have details about the fishing excursion but I'm sure someone here will.

It seems there are several:

Bay Lake & Seven Seas Lagoon Fishing Excursions
Bass Nitro Fishing Excursions
Junior Fishing Excursions (Kids' Fishing Around the World)
Cane Pole Fishing : This is what POR has
