I just moved over to POR with AP rates and here is my question:

I have a handicapped room requested and will have an ECV (she promises not to run anyone over) which would be the better request AB building 14 or Magnolia Terrace?

Subbing here.

Changed our ressie 31stOct - 4rdNov from ASMo to POR after general public codes were released. (saved 2$ by doing that :thumbsup2 )

I also hoped to have a room from Alligator Bayon buildings 27 or 38 or Magnolia mansion because I read from wdiwnfo.com that those are close to main pool.

Yes it is. We were there this June and a couple in front of us got on with a wheelchair.

Hi everyone, my DH and I just switched from the POP to POR we upgraded for only an extra 130.00 for our 8 day stay. I'm very excited. I have a question though.I was looking at all the pictures of the rooms and I was wondering if we could push the beds together or they fixed in one spot? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I loved it. I stayed there in July. If you go to the first page of my tr in my sig you will see pics of the property and the room we stayed in.

it is close to all.

Hi Scott!

I'm reading your trip report - great report!! - and I just have one question. I see on the map that there are smoking areas in front of mansions 95 & 90 - both of which I would be interested in staying in. Does the placement of these smoking areas interfere with coming or going from the building? We are not smokers and I would like to steer far from smoke if possible. I thought about maybe requesting the back of the buildings, facing the parking lot. What do you think?

Thanks for any help! :goodvibes

No, you can't push the beds together. There is a night stand in between them. The beds do move but you would have to redo the room and I don't think they would appreciate that.

We'll be at POR in October!:goodvibes

I have a question about the boat to DTD. I noticed the first boat starts at 11:10 am. We'd like to be at DQ one morning at its opening at 11:30 am. Will the boat get us there in time or should we drive/bus? It's a Monday morning late in October so maybe it won't matter too much if we're not there exactly when DQ opens. We'd like to get in the big 3 attractions before it gets crowded, but the boat ride sounds nice. Any thoughts? Thank you!!

If you are picked up at POR at 11:10, you will probably not be at DQ when it opens its doors at 11:30. When the boat leaves POR, it takes about 8 minutes to get to POFQ, where it will drop off/pick up passengers (5-10 minutes), and then continue to DTD. The trip to DTD from POFQ takes between 15-20 minutes, and when the boat arrives at DTD, it docks at the Marketplace section. DQ is located on the West Side of DTD, so it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk there from the Marketplace boat dock.

If you took the bus, after leaving POR you would probably have a straight shot to DTD (the bus might stop at TL first; I usually take the boat so I can't remember whether the water park is first or DTD). When you arrive at DTD, do not get off the bus at the Marketplace stop, but stay on for the next stop, which drops you off closer to DQ.

Driving would be quickest, if you have a car available.

Personally, I love the boat ride from POR/POFQ to DTD, but I don't usually visit DQ so that isn't an issue for me.

Thank you! We will have a rental car, but maybe we'll take the bus to DTD so we can ride the boat back. That should work. Thanks again!

We just got back the other day and when we took the bus to DTD the bus stopped at the Marketplace first then went to the Pleasure Island stop. You would get off here for DQ. I think it took around 20 min. to get there.:)

Well, it's almost here! After much consideration.....my dad and I will continue with our trip to WDW while my mother stays home to finish up with planning my sisters' wedding, etc.... We are at the Port Orleans for the third year in a row!!!!! This will be our second stay at French Quarter after a detour last summer at Riverside.

This is the first trip I didn't post a lot before going only due to being very busy with TWO jobs! I still have to book the flight down.....now that is LAST minute if you ask me.

Our dates are this Monday, August 20 until Saturday August 25th!

Thanks!:)

Does anyone know what time the DTD buses start running?

We just got back from POR and I posted a few pictures on this thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1554202

We enjoyed our stay! :goodvibes The resort was booked to capacity, but overall the buses ran OK. We ate in the food court a few times and at Boatwright's once. We also ordered a pizza and had Pina CoLavas at Muddy Rivers. The boat ride to/from Downtown Disney is nice. The only thing we didn't do at POR that we wanted to do was to catch Bob's show at the River Roost, but we didn't go to see it.

It was so hot that we ended up going through clothes like crazy and did laundry 3 times in 12 days, for a total of 5 loads of laundry. As always, the WDW dryers were weak. Otherwise, the doing laundry at POR went OK.

The quiet pool water was too warm to enjoy. It was warmer than bathwater, and wasn't refreshing at all. Old Man Island's water was a little cooler, but also on the warm side. It was HOT and humid while we were there.

Please forgive me if this a repeat. My question is; has anyone been to the Campfire on de' Bayou @ POR. If so please give me any feed back. We will be going in Feb. 2008.
